I looooved the show, and people who are nor used to italian people are gonna get offended but, I love it.
When you are the boss if you don't take charge of your bussiness, they run you over.

Did anybody else thought that Buddy was hot? I did.

I loved the show, they make "real" cakes, not show pieces. I love the fact that it's a real bakery, they make cakes, breads, pastries, everything you can expect from an italian bakery. He's a real baker, kuddos Buddy!!

Awesome show, Buddy. Loved it all...seeing your family, behind the scenes at the bakery, and mostly your incredible decorating! Plus I learned some new techniques, which was great - thanks! Your three b&w cakes rocked - it's amazing that you guys do such a high volume and still make such beautiful cakes! Can't wait for the next episode...my tivo is already set!

Congrats on a fantastic show!

Sugared -
I feel the same. I am so in love with Buddy lol. I wonder if I divorce my DH I can get Buddy to marry me? icon_lol.gif ITA 100% THIS is what a bakery is. His whole staff is great, the desserts all look dee-lish... I have found my new fav show. My only complaint is the show is not long enough.

I love the bickering, too, btw. Very NY/NJ Italian. Which I love also.

Definitely hands down the best cake show out there. Aside from the challenges, which I also love. I loved everything about it. The white and purple cake in the very beginning was gorgeous, too. Did you guys see that one?

Buddy - your show gave me serious motivation and a renewed hope about my own situation. It was good to see a success story especially in this economy! Soooo many bakeries around here are closed down. It's awesome seeing yours thrive.

I hope one day my son (he's only 3 - LOL) will love what I do and work with me like you did with your dad. Even for 3, he is really into cake! He actually popped in Sharon's DVD on stacking and sat and watched it and was asking questions! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just watched it for the first time tonight on TLC. What a show? the cakes are lovely and his staff are very talented. But I dont like the beckering and carrrying on from his family members..

Could do without the family tension, how much of it is hyped up for the show, I found it a bit tiring. Would have liked to see more techniques

I did not like it. I loved it. It is such a family. It kind of reminds me of the West Coast Choppers in cake form. Awesome job Buddy! By the way, I had mentioned if you needed me give me a holler. icon_smile.gif I take that back, call someone else. You guys would be way too busy for me. icon_smile.gif

I was also disappointed that the show was only a 1/2 hour! It said in my TV Guide that it would be an hour! icon_cry.gif

Buddy,
The show was awesome! And your cakes were beautiful! My favorite thing though is your commitment to your customers! I think your customer service rocks! Espec. in a day and age where most places I go, noone seems to give a damn!

I really enjoyed the show as well. I know there was more drama than many expected or wanted but keep in mind, this is reality TV! Nearly every long running reality TV show is full of drama, and that is why people watch. If this was a show about cake decorating, sure the cake decorators would watch... and the show would run for 5 whole epsiodes and be dumped for poor ratings. I know... you watched Rock of Love because you wanted Bret Michaels to find that special someone... not to make fun of those crazy bitches. icon_wink.gif Even the Biggest Loser is more about drama this season... it gets viewers and makes things more interesting. Obviously the producers decided that was the way they wanted to go with the show... since we only saw 22 minutes out of a 70+ hour work week, I am guessing that they could have easily edited it in a way that would have made the viewers think that Carlo's is the "happiest bakery on earth" but they decided to go where the viewers are... drama!

As a cake shop owner, I don't need to see the drama but I am all for whatever angle they need to take to keep the show on the air. Shows like Cake Boss & Ace of Cakes increase the awareness and demand for custom cakes and our business benefits! With the dozens of "wedding cake alternative" articles in bridal mags, it's always nice to have one more show reminding brides that cakes are where it's at! So, I'm cool if Buddy wants to bodyslam his brother-in-law and then climb onto the work table and deliver the "finishing elbow" if that is what people need to see to make Cake Boss a long running show. icon_biggrin.gif

OMG!!! *snort* But I really want to see him happy... (I have never seen an episode... the previews were enough). That line had me rolling on the floor.

I haven't seen it yet (it's on my DVR) but I must say... without a lil'drama no one would keep watching. Drama tis the spice of life no? I try to steer clear, but it's one of those necessary evils.

I LOVE THE SHOW!!! Buddy is amazing!! Those wedding cakes were stunning. The volume of cakes and different sweets they make in a week is crazy, I give him so much credit, him and his team are incredible.

As for the drama, I think it was a great idea for the show, its a REAL bakery, its not made up just for tv like some other shows. They're a true italian family and I love every bit of it icon_biggrin.gif

Loved the show! Most families that work together there is bound to be some drama. You can tell that this is a close knit family that is there for one another through thick and thin. Amazing how Buddy kept his cool with all the pressure. Beautiful cakes!!

I was also going to say that the tension that's gone on just between my hubby and I the couple times he's helped me with a cake is nothing compared to what they showed on Buddy's show last night. I agree that when you work with family, things just get a little heated sometimes. I didn't mind the drama......I guess because I completely understand it! icon_wink.gif

DH and I laughed at the drama and said that my family would be exactly the same way if we worked together every day- lots of drama queens in my family. Loved the gorgeous cakes. The parts where he talked about his dad made me tear up. It was so obvious the love and respect he has for his dad.

I only caught the last 10 minutes of the show, (DH was watching basketball). I was impress with them pulling off two more cakes without any notice. They were beautiful cakes even if they were dummies. I will watching the listings to see when it comes on again. Any show about making cakes is good TV watching to me!!!!

I loved the show, but then I am Italian and can relate. The fighting was a little dramatic right out the gate for the first show, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. It sucked that they decorate UPSTAIRS have to carry all their cakes down stairs!!! Geesh! I also am an Ace of Cakes show, but I am hoping this show has more piping and buttercream than fondant.

I have to clarify one thing here...Those weren't just crazy bitches, they were crazy SKANKY bitches. Just to get the right terminology...

And Buddy's show was more interesting because it showed a real full-service bakery, not just the cake part of it. His family reminded me of my friend's Brooklyn Italian family, and even though I wouldn't want to be in the middle of all that tension every day (I'm totally WASPy, we don't interact like that!) I thought it was nice that they showed the real deal of what goes on. I'm sure that it was a little hyped up for tv some, though.
