I loved both cakes! They were both EXTREME! But my favorite one was Mary and Courtney's cake. I thought they did a really amazing job. I wish James wouldn't of went home, I really like his work!

And I don't think they are hard on Bronwen, She has won so many challenges.

Ok - i may get cyber-killed by all the Bronwen fans, but I am actually a little sick of Bronwen. I havent watched a lot of challenges because I only got interested in caking and discovered these shows recently. SO maybe I dont have the back story to everything. But honestly, in this challenge almost EVERY SINGLE TIME Bronwen is on camera commenting she says something about Mary with a negative feel to it. I can understand she feels Mary is her biggest competition, but it gets annoying when you keep whining about it and Mary this and Mary that and keep reminding everyone all you think about is Mary. While Mary is getting on with winning this thing! She really needs to stop talking about Mary. Mary on the other hand hardly ever brings up Bronwen.

Don't worry MyDiwa, I feel exactly the same way.

I have to say I love Bronwen, I like her the best. Mary is very talented but I think they choose her to win all the time and it's really getting sickening, or maybe I'm just jelious of her talent. I also think they need different judges, James doesn't need to stop making flowers he's awsome at it. That would be like saying Nestles needs to stop making chocolate. He does need to incorporate the flower making with something else though. Mary and Courtney's cake was better and more detailed even without the glow in the dark gel, you have to give credit where credit is due regardless of who you like or who you want to win. Mary and Bronwen are both awesome at what they do as are the rest of them. It is a contest and it's up to the judges alone. I do agree it would be nice if we could vote like American Idol. LOL... that would surely change the way things have gone. The best has won each time, they have been fair and right on with the scoring and judging. JMO

I agree with the fact that James shouldn't stop making flowers just cause one judges dont like them. I love Kerry Vincent, but then again I can see that James has a flair for flowers that are not only beautiful, but difficult to make. Every artist has his thing, and that is his.

As for the cakes, I love Browen Style, is always so clean.

I think Bronwen's 1st cake should have won. It was amazing, but her wedding cake was horrible. Mary is very talented but Her competitive side comes out quickly and sometimes that can bite you in the butt, like it did with the wedding cake. She ran out of the car so fast that she had no information what so ever. James is fabulous, honestly so far they have gone home in the right order, IMO.

I do not like Courtney, her comments are always out of place and just akward. James is such a sweet young man and Bronwen is a sweetheart, and she is awesome. I do love Mary because she is self taught and very polite. I wish Bronwen and James had won, they really work as a team and create an awesome new design cake that spun and had fireworks ans such in no time.

It seams to me that the judges have always a thing against Bronwen? Am I the only one that thinks so?

Let me undrstand this... you won't eat a cake with tonic water on it, but you'll eat one that had fireworks shooting out of it?

I love Bronwen also! I have to admit, though, she seems more caddy in her comments when discussing everyone else than usual! Maybe it's just the stress of winning the title and money. I love her and my husband pointed it out and I snapped at him! Ha ha ha!

No offense..but I don't get the comparison between tonic water and fireworks. Tonic water (Canada Dry) is made for human consuption. I don't think they designed fireworks to be lit next to your food. icon_confused.gif Am I missing something? icon_confused.gif

Also, did anyone catch "The View". The last 3 bakers designed a cake for Sherry's Birthday. I missed the results..but I heard Courtney won.

Courtney's cakes are my favorite, but that is just my style too. But I cant stand the "DIVA". After what she did on a previous challenge ruining someone else's cake and playing 'innocent' was 100% wrong. But here is what I dont understand. How can Mary keep winning? On the first episode her flowers broke, and on this last one the ball broke. The judges are WAY to easy on her, I think she is the most talented of the three, but if one of James's flowers had broken, they would of beat him down.
I almost cried when he went home, he is an amazing artist, chef, and person. Always kind etc.
My two cents icon_smile.gif

I think the reason the ball did not count against Mary was because..you would not know it was missing had you not seen it on her sketch. It did not take away from the design of the cake. And yes..her flower broke on the 1st challenge..but her concept and frosting painted art is hard to match. You don't see many people that can do that with cake and icing.

But it was a big part of her design, it was supposed to be the fireflys weapon against the hippo. So her super power was glowing? How is that going to defeat the hippo? I wasn't really impressed by the glowing, I guess that would be cool if I was having a party in the dark icon_lol.gif I could see using it for Halloween, but on that cake, not so sure!

So what your saying is that before she can fight any villains she needs to first undergo medical treatment? Wouldn't that drain her? icon_lol.gif

Hey Xstitcher, she didn't ask to have a thyroid problem. It's not her fault. She's just trying to rid the world of all the evil hippopotamuses-hippo-hippopotami...what the heck is the plural of the doggone word!?!?!?

Can I just ask all you Bronwen fanatics, what the heck the puny super-hero's power was? I mean, it obviously wasn't strength because my four year-old daughter has bigger guns than that guy. So, he defeated the villanous landfill by flying around it? Hmmm, yeah...that was a good idea...

I was very disappointed in the judges on this last challenge.

Bronwen and James came up with an entirely new design (one that was not practiced ahead of time). Mary made the comment that the last time she made Firefly the globe stayed fine. So for Mary and Courtney to make something they had already practiced ahead of time and still win, really upset me. I thought the entire point of the challenge was to ditch the old designs and create something new.

Then Mary and Courtney did nothing to help one another. Mary could see that Courtney was having trouble with her hippo, but did not offer to help. In Bronwen and James kitchen they traded off and helped each other.

Now I will say that I really did like Mary and Courtney's cake, but thought it was unfair for them to win.

They were poor sports (crying; laughing at the other kitchen), no teamwork and they used practiced designs.

I really want Bronwen to win. She has done the best work consistently.

I actually want to send a letter to Food Network over this last challenge because it really upset me. I told DH that I really don't want to watch the last show or any other challenges, but since Bronwen is still in it, I will.

James worked on the heroes physique and I think he used himself as the model.....I thought it cute...I thought the face Bronwin put on it was amazing. She is so skilled its mind blowing. I love her and I hope she wins it all! icon_wink.gif Thats not saying anything negative about the others they are all talented, but I think Bronwen is consistenly great....Mary made a cake of eggs for Petes sake LOL for that young couple...the episode prior, so I can't say she is consistent. Bronwin has win in her name! Hope that works for her teehee

Keegan (host) said the point was to combine both decorators original designs and come up with a new superhero cake.

Courtney didn't ask for help, Bronwen did. Mary was smart not to help, because Courtney probably knew what she wanted to do with the hippo whereas Mary would've been asking every five minutes, "Like this?"
It doesn't take any discussion to roll out a circle of fondant.

Bronwen cried in the last challenge when she realized she wasn't going to be able to finish wire thingy she had for a topper. Bronwen snickered when she said Mary's cake was suitable for a grandma.

I say all of that to say, if you like Bronwen more than the other competitors, great- just say that. But I think it's reaching to come up with all these reasons that the other challengers should be "dinged" when Bronwen's just as guilty of doing some of the things you accuse the other decorators of doing. She's good, people, but she's not God.

Actually, the superhero guy was James' idea. Bronwen's superhero was originally a monkey, which she gave when trying to combine their ideas. James indicated that he wasn't adept at figure modeling and even admitted that the superhero was a little scrawny. And nope, I have no idea what his super-power was supposed to be. On the other hand, not sure what any of them were supposed to be! icon_confused.gif

BTW - I think it's awfully hard to judge comments made by the contestants during the "interview" portion of the show. We don't know what questions are being asked, we don't know the conversations that led up to some of the comments... I know that I would hate certain things that I've said to be taken out of context. I think all the parties said things that they're regretting after watching what was actually aired!
