That was really cool of her! thumbs_up.gif

I did not like Bronwen's and James' cake at all. Courtney's and Mary's was very cool. That hippo was awesome. Courtney did such a great job with all the details on him. It was a pretty cake too. The other one not so much, athough I did like the water effect on the globe.

Everything on Bronwen's and James cake was cool..except that bottom-tier. It was like...oh we have this cake with flowers on it..let's use that for the base. It just didn't go with the super-hero theme.

ok, something was wrong with my tv. I did see that James was sent off, the next thing I know Iron Chef was on. Did I miss something?

Yes Bronwen and James did not win the challenge and had to do a 30 minute cake off with the supplies give to them. They had a cake, buttercream, fondant, and some tips and they just had to do something on a whim. Bronwen said she was not doing anything with fondant since she had to roll all that out. She just did buttercream flowers and she wrote pick me on it and had some ruffles on the side. James rolled some fondant and put circles with dots on it....very plain!! So he was voted off!!

I have to say, I liked both cakes. They were great!! But, in my opinion, I thought that Bronwen and James would have won. I think their cake was the most extreme. It was 7 ft tall for goodness sakes! Bronwen did all those continents freehand, it spun around, they worked as a team, and I really liked the way that they came up with a new design for their cake by putting both of their ideas together.

Great Job to both teams!!

Exactly, Bronwen and James worked together to create a cool piece. Mary all she did was whine and cry, and act as if she was handicapped with her partner, who happened to win last week by the way. I think they cater to Mary way roo much, it irked me this evening. Bronwen and James really worked together well and created a totally cool and very extreme cake! Seriously they never make anything bad when you get right down to it, but I thoufht Bronwen should have won. They are never fair to her it seems to me.

missed the part with the glow, what did they use to make it glow? I heard Kerry talk about how they would be given credit and it was the first and all but how did they do it?

I liked Courtney's hippo too,but I loved Bronwen and James's creation the best ! I just love Bronwen's work...she always suprises me ! I really hated to see James go...he is so talented. I know people say that he does too many flowers, but he is so damn good at them...he rocks flowers!
They are all very talented artists and since many of us cannot see them in person, we are lucky to get a glimpse of the action of TV.

(but I really hated the end of the first episode when they had to say who should leave...so uncomfortable....I hate cake drama LOL)

I think both cakes were great, but I thing Bronwen and James should hve been given the win because they came up with something new and didn't use what they had already planned. The glow in the dark was cool, but I don't think it was that great.

I was going to ask the same. Mary said something on the first challenge about Bronwen not thinking that Mary should have won the Simpson challenge over her, but I don't know if that's the story behind or if FN is just making the "story" bigger than what it is. Bronwen seems to always have something to say about Mary.

I like Mary's cake. Bronwen always does cakes that spin, so that wasn't really all that extreme. But 7 feet high was pretty extreme. The glow in the dark feature wasn't that cool, LOL, I thought the cake would actually glow, not glow in the dark. Don't ask what I was thinking.

I'm dying to know who the mystery client will be next week.

I thought they should have won too (Bronwen and James that is)!

Was it my imagination or did I see Mary kinda laughing when she thought Bronwen & James had put their superhero on backwards? I can't be 100% sure because I was missing some of what was being said because my kids kept running in and out of the room. I wish I could get a babysitter for every Sun btwn 8-9pm lol.

BTW, did any of you watch CakeBoss tonight?

At this point I would love to see Courtney take it, I personally am just getting tired of the bickering between Bronwen and Mary. They're all talented artists, and should all be proud of everything they've accomplished and will accomplish in their futures. I don't know if it's mostly the editing by Food Network to make it more dramatic or what but the snarkiness between the two with their comments is a little unnecessary. More talent, less drama I say.

She didn't INVENT anything. She mixed piping gel with tonic water. Tonic water contains some amount of quinine which will "glow" under UV light. Check out this wikipedia definition and scroll down to see a picture of Canada dry tonic water in regular light and under UV light.

Ok well Mary was laughing at Bronwen and James when she heard they thought they had it flying backwards (which they were worng and it was right)haha....I know one week I heard Bronwen sayiing something about how they are always picking Mary for challenges...it was some time back....and Mary is snarky too,, more so I think...which makes the show entertaining I suppose...They had fireworks and a flying hero, and I forget the other thing...but it was way cooler than the winner, so whats up with that? Well I am rooting for Bronwin because she is consistently the best. thumbs_up.gif

There does seem to be a lot of snarkiness between Mary and Bronwen. Too bad, too, because it really seems beneath both of them.

Bronwen just looks SO tired on all of these episodes. She looks like she has the weight of the world on her shoulders. She's my favorite!

did anyone else notice the shadow of next weeks mystery client? Did it not look a lot like Michelle B who was knocked off the show? The look of surprise and knowing makes me wonder. Her ponytail and the way she stands with her arms crossed? Look familiar? Just checking.

I am rooting for Bronwen in the showdown. I think Courtney and Mary are both great cake artists but I'm pulling for Bronwen because I think she is "Best All Round." She is a proven competitor and decorator and I think she rolls with the punches and curve balls better than any other competitors on the FN.

I cant believe they didn't call Mary out for poor sportsmanship when she laughed because James had thought he made a mistake on the super hero. I am glad it turned out that he didn't and his super hero flew in the correct direction. I don't like Mary I think she is a bad sport. You didn't see Bronwen laughing when Mary was crying because she forgot her stand for her dragonfly aka cricket.

The competition must be rough. Do they do it all in one or in segments. Bronwen does not look like she is feeling well, kinda pale and real tired looking. No bashing her, they all look like they have been run thru the mill.
