awesome!! i made the wedding cake of a catering associate of his here in australia (he married and aussie gal) lucky enough he didn;t tell me he was friends with him till they picked the cake up or i would have been to scared to actually make it!! it was an all purple 3 tier madhatter. and the only reason i found out is that when they picked it up he said oh pity duff isn't gonna make it he would love it. this twigged my attention and i said duff? he said oh do you get ace of cakes here in australia? and i said its on pay tv which i don't have but i don't think you would find a decorator who doesn't know him!!! he says real cas 'yeah he's a friend, he makes cakes for the weddings i cater (he happens to cater for very wealthy people i found out) i was in shock for about a week!

I'm trying to figure out how to get pictures of the cake but not make it look like that is the reason I am there. I am only there for her and her husband (dysfunctional family).
But I must say it sure helped my decision on going! Doesn't that sound horrible!!!! I do love my neice and her husband very much!!!!!! But when he said he was picking up the cake and I asked him where and he said that he was on the plane to Maryland I about fell out of my chair!!!!!!! So this is what I am trying to find out without being tacky!

1) The looks of the cake
2) The cost of the cake
3) The taste of the cake
4) Why in the H@#$@#@ he didn't order from me!!!! Lol.
(Not really, they didn't know that I did cakes)
5) Also, how long ago it was baked if he was picking it up
today for Saturday.
6) What he had to do to travel with it. Packaging etc.

Let me know if there are any other questions--OK!
I wanted to call him back and see if he would get me an autograph, but I still want them to think I might have a little class!!!!!! lol.

I'll let you know!!!!

Well his cakes start very high, no matter what size it is. So he definetly put a big chunk of change on the cake, never mind the flight to go get it. And not that Im not a huge fan of the show or him, because I am, but I dont understand why people feel the need to travel halfway across the country for a cake? Isnt The Cake Girls closer? Their just as famous if that is what he was looking for. I just dont get it.

I looked up on the Web site that (if I am understanding it right) the order starts at least $1000.00 and then it depends on how many and how detailed.

I know that my nephew-in-law travels alot. So I am thinking he used frequent flyer miles. But this other thing, I just don't get either. But it isn't any of my business. I just want to see and taste and I am glad that it is at someone else's exspense.

The only think I am worried about is, Saturday is also my son's prom. I am afraid I will have to leave before they cut the cake. The party starts at 2p.m. I have to be home at 5.

Who are the Cake Girls? I don't have cable. I only get to see cake shows when I am at my son's house.

Ooh...nice...find out if they were filming when the cake was picked up...maybe because he flew in to get it the producers might consider that worthy of some air time...you know, it'll show how far their appeal reaches, LOL.

We get ace of cakes over here on sky tv... on the food network. I love the show but as much as i love the cakes i do think it is a shame how alot of them have alot of non cake involved like the flamingos etc... i know you cant make the legs of cake would be impossible hehe. but their detail in their work is amazing.

I wish we could get that moulding choc over here that they use looks good and hmmm yummmm..

You can make modeling chocolate quite easily Ariginal... it's just chocolate and glucose (or corn syrup). icon_smile.gif
