So, I am doing my first wedding cake this week. The couple got married at the courthouse a few months ago and are having a small reception/shower this weekend. I am told there will be about 50 people there (keep in mind this is South Georgia where we really do eat the cake, probably double portions icon_lol.gif ) My question is would you do a 12", 10", and 6" or 10", 8", and 6". The 6" will not be eaten, they will be saving it for first anniversary. Also do you think the first option will look wierd? since such a gap from 6 to 10? The design is first two tiers stacked with 6" on pillars flowers surrounding pillars. Please help me!

TIA

Based on the Wilton charts, a 10 and 8 would give you 48 party size servings (larger piece than typical wedding cut based on what you said). If you think that may be cutting it close, I would go with the 12 and 10. Or if you're worried about the look of the 6 on top of that (although I think it would look fine, especially since the 6 will be on pillars), you could go 12 and 9. This would be about 64 party size servings and you'd have a 3" difference between each tier. Hope this helps!

If "y'all" like bigger portions, I'd go with the 6, 10 &12" sizes. No, I dont think it will look weird with the size difference between the 6 and 10" . We do it all the time! If you want it to look more uniform, you could use a 14" instead of a 12", but since you are separating the 6" from the bottom 2 cakes, it will be fine! I have done a few like that, but have a hard time figuring out how to post them here in my post! sorry! Can't wait to see pictures! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks so much for your help and advice. I think I will go with the 10 and 12. We are definitely a bunch of cake eaters down here. The bigger the better.

Hope ya'll have a wonderful day!
