Hmmmm... that is an intriguing idea. I will have to give that some serious consideration. Thank you!

Hahahaha! If I use the idea, I'm going to take total credit for it. I'll have this thread removed so there is no proof. I'll also threaten your neighbors to keep you under control! Hahahahahahaha!!! Now you may not sleep so well. icon_lol.gificon_cry.gif

If anyone can do this it will be Mel. I liked the idea about the small ones on the top tier.

It would have been cute to do the cupcakes in tea cups since it's an Alice in Wonderland theme, or maybe incorporate the Queen of Hearts (or red hearts/black clubs, etc. on one of the tiers), but I think it will look good anyway you do it.

I'm anxious to see the finished product as well! HURRY UP!!

The cake won't be fully complete until tomorrow when I put all the cake jewelry on it. I don't want to put that on until after it's driven 80 miles!

I have been reading all this since the first thread because I swear it could be me writing the same thing! I'm dying to see what method she used because as I write this from work, I have 3 cakes (each are 6 1/2" tall) sitting on my table at home ready to be turned into a topsy turvy cake...which I've never done. I'm planning on doing the hole carving thing... So Melvira, I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! I have to drive this from Santa Fe to Las Cruces ( 3 1/2 hr) tomorrow - YIKES! I can't wait to see your pic! It's snowing like crazy here in SF and I commute to SF, so I'm leaving early and I'll check this tonight!!

Good luck, I'm in your shoes!!!

As for everyone else - you guys crack me up! Thanks for the laughs!! icon_smile.gif[/b]

sorry Mel, Edna is my new goddess. 10 WEDDINGS, in one weekend? I am in awe. I might do 10 in a month if I had a shop and that would be pushing it.

Mel, how are things going? Get plenty of rest!

Oh... that is SO wrong!! How DARE You turn on me at this point? I am DEVASTATED!! *gasp* did you hear that? I think my cake just crashed to the floor! waaaah!

But seriously, I have always loved the LOOK of TT cakes, but I've been scared of MAKING them. This one totally changed me. I am no longer scared of them one bit. Now, I am a little disappointed about some fondant trouble I had. I finally tried Michelle F's fondant and have some trouble with it. I don't think the problem was with the recipe, I think I just didn't knead it enough before covering the cake, and ended up with some wrinkles and tears in a few places. I was able to hide most of it with decorations, but I know if it weren't for that the cake would be really good! I think my customer is going to be super pleased though.

I promise you I will post a pic tomorrow after I get back, but I have to do some shopping while I'm in the big city, so it won't be until later in the day!

Ok you guys! Your wait is over.

I don't remember how much background I have given, so let me go over it again. This is an open house for an eclectic little shop and art studio combo. The place is AWESOME!! I ended up buying a bunch of cupcake/cake related stuff! Her shop ROCKS!

Anyway, the theme for the party was Alice in Wonderland, they were kind of reflecting the tea party. Her fave part of that movie was the 'painting the roses red' part, so I did some of the ribbon roses on the cake white, but most red. Then reflected that on the cupcakes as well. It turned out really cute. She was thrilled, and I'm proud of it. The best part was when I pulled up in front of the shop I could see all the stuff inside and the cake was the perfect colors!! It was like the cake was a perfect match! That made me happy since she left it all up to me!

She had 2 doen cupcakes, 5 doz. brownie bites, 5 doz fruit tarts, and 5 doz mini cheesecakes as well! Lots of food, but it all looked so great! Wish I could've just hung out there all day but I'd have left owing HER money! Too much cool stuff.
