I emailed a photo of the red bandana bird to the craft magazine that gave me my inspiration for the cookie, as the author of the article requested people do so. (Though I'm guessing they didn't think they'd be getting cookie photos when the article was about hand-made cards and stamping techniques!) Imagine my surprise when I got a response to my email, saying she really liked what I had done, and that the photo would be published in an upcoming issue of their magazine. I even get a free copy when it does! Woo hoo! Had to share...

Thank you! I was very surprised they would print the picture, but very excited.

I see you're from Omaha, too, globalgatherings. What part of town? I'm in the Loveland area, not too far from Mangelsen's.

It's called "Crafts 'N Things", and I have no idea what issue the cookie will be in. I discovered the magazine at the library, and found it to be very interesting. It gave me a number of cookie ideas, as well as some cookie bouquet container options. I was impressed by the shear number of projects each issue had. (The bandana idea came from the December issue.)

I own a catering company on 121st and Center. I really don't do cakes or decorated cookies. I just admire you bakers from afar. I cater breakfast lunch dinner, weddings etc.. Always looking for someone to send my customers to for cakes and very pretty items such as you do. I'm a pretty good cook but not a decorator. We should get together.

Alas, I am not licensed. Though to be honest, I've been giving it some thought lately. The engineering company I work for is struggling, and I may find myself unemployed. There isn't much out there for jobs in my field, so it would be a good time to seriously consider getting into decorating. It's a bit scary, though! I would be interested in seeing what you do.

I've sent you a PM, so we'll see if it goes thru. Sometimes they stay in the out-box for quite a while before being sent. I have no clue why that is!

Not much! At least to the naked eye I couldn't see the difference. But when piping, there was just a teeny bit finer line with the #1s.

Kelly, you must be cakesbyjam's sister. We're good friends and she talks about her sister being a caterer.

I got an email from the author of the magazine article that showed the bandana stamping technique. Her editor had sent the photo of my bird cookies to her, and she wanted to include them in her blog. She emailed me today with the link...woo hoo! I was even able to plug CC! This probably won't work, because I'm a computer idiot, but here's the link: http://www.fiskateers.com/blog/2009/04/22/cookies-cards-they-really-do-go-together/
