How heart breaking after all the hard work that went into your cake. I have shipped two 4" cakes from MD to FL using USPS. The cakes made it there in good shape, however I tried shipping Mr and Mrs Potato fondant figures to FL for my Grandson's birthday and they had pieces break off. Luckily my daughter was able to "glue" them back together with a little water. I'm going to try shipping figures again but package a little differently.

I'm sure your hard work was appreciated. I hope they still ate the cake.

Actually ! I mailed a cake from HI to PA...arrived in 3 days in perfect condition

I dont think I will ever dare try to ship a cake now I have seen these pictures! I am so sorry to you and your poor sister!

Thank you for your kind words. This happened 2 1/2 years ago, and I am happy to say that my sister and I are 100% recovered. icon_biggrin.gif

But I am glad that this thread can help others by seeing what is possible if you ship a cake.
