WOW!!! Your cake is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!! I think you should reply to her email again....complete with picture of the cake she was crazy to stop payment on! Rub her nose in it just like you would a dog that pooed on the floor!!!!

My husband HATES that I'm constantly talking cake...but he loved hearing this story. And he's a cheapskate but he thought your cake looked like it was worth well more than $1100.00!

Congratulations on a truly gorgeous cake!

No, they would still take it out of her account. They bank at the same bank. It's the same if you cash or deposit it if you are doing so at your own bank.

dsevans, all I can say is that I admire you very much for staying strong through all this. Keep it up because it sounds like it's going to keep going for a while.

She missed out on a gorgeous cake and she'll be kicking herself forever for being so stupid.

It seems weird that only the cake would be cancelled. Definitely something a jealous, crazed ex-girlfriend of the groom might do! detective.gif

The person who called the bank gave the check number and amount so I would say it was definitely the bride. Or at the very least someone close to her on her behalf.

I totally agree with you.
You know, that got me thinking.....do you think the Groom even has an idea of what his bride did? icon_eek.gif OMG could you imagine his reaction first, when there's not wedding cake, and secondly when they are summonded to court?

OMG, what a great reality show this would be for VH1! Anyone have a video camera? I'm moving and changing careers! LOL! dunce.gif

This kind of reminded me of the FreeCreditReport. Com Dream Girl Commercial. Wonder if the groom knows what he's in for (besides having a thief and a possible jailbird for a wife ). icon_lol.gif

OMG - the cake is STUNNING! Idiot bride really missed out on this.

I, too, hope you pursue legal action. I know it's a pain in the butt, but this gal needs to be taught that you don't treat people in this manner. God forbid she should raise a litter of offspring who are taught this is acceptable behavior.

I was glued to this all day long at work, rushed to the computer as soon as I could. What a _ _ _ _ _. That cake was well worth that money. She is a ungrateful, undeserving, piece of crap, nasty lady. I really hope that MOG tells her son and he is so upset that he walks out of the church or the police come and get her while saying her vows. She and her mother deserve that. (pictures running thru my mind) I hope he ducks out before he goes thru that. It is what she deserves. I can't even imagine the man hours on that cake. Justice will be served!!!

Ok over $500 is a Felony and fraud on top of that. I would so make sure there are criminal charges and let the bank do thier stuff but I think you should file charges start with PD and don't stop until the DA hears you and does something. She is a criminal and hould be treated as such.

I would also go the civil route as well make her think twice about trying to screw over a cake lady. I am just bad but I would have been contacting the media maybe they would do a story on wedding scams.

MAKE HER PAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh my i think this is the longest post i've ever read-thank you op for your guts and standing up for what is right, what is clearly stated in your contract and for being so gracious about it. thought i'm sure the bridezilla and her mom will be trash talking you you did give them ample time to come up with cash in order to save the day (so to speak) so they'd still have cake but knowing with drive time that you couldn't deliever in time when the mog called-that would have crushed me (i'm so glad to hear that she was understanding at least) i know that us and can laws are different but i would think that you could still go to court with this yourself (let the bank do their thing too it will only help to back you up) she'll have to pay ALL the court fee, the banks and yours and probably something in there for your time, banks time, fees incurred as well as the remainder fee and still have no cake to show for it (except the crummy walmart cake-did you know machines crank those out just like car robots?) they're (bride and mom) just pissed cuz they got caught!! enjoy the honeymoon (if there is one-and if i was his mother there wouldn't be!!) gotta go to bed now

Wow, I finally got to the end. I am completely floored at the audacity of some people. Kudos to OP for keeping a level head and sticking to your guns. Your cake is beautifully done, despite the color choice of the bride's. I hope she's sweating bullets and gets what is coming to her. And even though her mother won't be involved in being prosecuted, I hope karma bites her in the ass for being a witch and raising an ungrateful, selfish, brat.

I'm sure the people at the venue and your church will love getting that yummy looking cake!

You can go to small claims and win, but good luck on getting them to pay up. Unless they have something you can put a lien on, and they try to sell it, it is nearly impossible to collect. I'm still trying to get satisfaction from a crooked contractor from 6 years ago.

Kudos to the bank, though. That may just be the driving force for this thing to work out for the OP. Their lawyers will know how to handle it all.

OP, you behaved like the class act you are. Good luck and God Bless!!!

I am so sorry to hear this happened. What a horrible thing and to have the MOB cuss you over somethng that wastheir fault. Bet they thought they were going to shame ou into bending to their will. I'd like to congratulate you for sticking up to the bride & her mother and not giving in. Alosto the venue for not using you Dummy Cake as a replacement. LMAO when I heard they were keeping the sheet cakes i the Walmart boxes. A great big Thank You to your bank for going after her for Fraud. I feel bad for the MOG who was embaressedby her new DIL wth her callous handling of things. Hopefully when se hears people bad mouthing you for not deliveing the cake she will straighten them out. Hopefully this will not harm your business. Hearing this I will be sure to recieve all moneies for large cake orders at least 2 weeks in advance.
God Bless You for your strength to stand up to them.
In the end they will have to answer to a much higher power. What goes around comes around.
Good Luc in the Future.

There is one thing that I would have had the vendor do different. Take the 250 and go by pink and purple peeps and hand them out to her guest as their wedding cake substitute.

You could have also faxed a copy of the cake to the vendor and had them display the picture where the cake should have been displayed with the peeps all around the picture.

You should also press charges along with the bank. If you would not have been so stressed from this, you might not have had trouble with your next cake. judge.gif

It's also to teach her a lesson she didn't ever learn from her mother. As crappy as the two of them treated you, I really feel sorry for the bride, too. She probably has a lot of hard lessons coming in this life that she could have learned the easy way had she had a responsible parent.
