Here's what I do (downloaded Gimp which is like a free version of Adobe)..especially since most of the time I'm taking photos once I'm at the venue....here's an example of before and after.......takes me about 2 min. to get rid of the background! lol
Although, it would be nice to set up some type of back drop.....my luck I'd be too tired at 4 am to pull the thing out LOL
I found this home-made photo tent: http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-make-a-inexpensive-light-tent
I wonder if it works well with cakes.
WOW!!!!! I can't thank you enough for sharing this DIY project article with us! I'm sure cakes, candies, cookies, etc in this box will create excellent pictures -cheaper than getting an expensive new camera, too! I'm going to google Bristol Board right now
I have been searching this site for photo booth for the last two days and when I saw it on the homepage I was like WTH someone must have ESP to comment on it so I could find it. I will be going to get this tonight as I am doin a cake this week. Thanks so much

I had a hard time finding it too. I had to make quite a few search queries before it came up. Very Weird.
This is so cool!!! I love it! DH will love the idea of not holding up tablecloths while I take "just one more pic, hon....really!" and his arms are about to fall off! LOL!
I think my son feels the same way. There is ALWAYS one more picture....lol
I found one trick to get good lightening without actually having real photography equipment: those 'sunlight' lamps. I randomly happened to use it once because I couldn't get enough light, and the type of light it gives off makes the pic look great with little to no talent on my part!

Sorry! I don't know what a 'sunglight' lamp is. But I would really love to!!

It's a lamp that 'mimics' natural daylight, it's used as a kind of therapy for Seasonal Affective Disorder. I use to live in the Northwest Territories of Canada, and when your looking at summers with 24 hour daylight and winters with 24 hour darkness you get all kinds of messed up lol.
Here's a link to the one I have: http://www.esplighting.com/1127.html bought it a few years ago, and it works great, havn't had to change the bulb till the bf knocked it over two weeks ago and smashed it haha.
If anyone is looking for editing programs here's two that are based online, no downloading needed:
http://www.pixlr.com/
http://www.picnik.com/
Picnik will even link to facebook, photobucket, flickr etc so that you can grab your pictures from there to edit.
I use the trifold board too, with fabrics, or drapes, anything that I can use to give a nice back ground. Folds up easy and stores nicely, plus you can take it with you.
Thanks for sharing!!
If you do the tri fold, put something on the top of the trifold, Maybe foam board. That reduces the shadow. Mirrors also help with shadowing.
Did I miss something -- can the trifold board be purchased or do you have to make it? If you can buy it, where can you get it from? If you have to make it, where are the directions?
a triflod board you can get about anywhere...wally world has them by the school stuff...i know the local hobby stores carry them too..it is just a big piece of card board that folds in 2 places to stand up...alot of students use them to display thier projects on for science fairs and such...hope this helps ya...
I too had to search multiple times before I found this thread. Thanks for all of the great info!
Off to Hobby Lobby on my lunch break to find a tri-fold board...
These science fair folding boards also work nicely when airbrushing to help keep down on the overspray that goes everywhere!
