Hi, I'm making a Backyardigans cake for my grandaughters 1st birthday and I was going to use the 3 hole tip to make grass which looks like grass but I thought there may be a way to paint or transfer it on so it's smooth looking. It will be iced in Buttercream. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thank you and love this site. It's awesome

if its iced b/c you could scrunch up some kitchen paper and sort of dab the bc once its crusted a little to give it more texture. my mum used to push bc through a metal sieze for grass, could take you a while to cover a full cake and you wouldnt get that smooth look your after.

Wouldn't you just use the same method that you're using for the rest of the cake? Just use green?

I woiuld say pipe on the green, and then with a wet brush, use delicate brush strokes to paint from the bottom of the cake on up the side and flair away from the cake...Ive done something like that before, so you paint on the b/c but first you put it where you want it by piping it.

Could you just ice the top green and put little tufts of grass here and there? Kinda like this .... http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1314939

Here is a Backyardigans cupcake cake that i just did last week. I smoothed everything out, then used the grass tip #233 for accent spots. Hope this helps.
