This may be a dumb question... I haven't made a lot of cakes. Can you bake two cakes (same shape and size) in the oven at the same time? Thanks!

I believe this will work so long as they are not two enormous cakes (then there would not be enough room for the hot air to circulate.)

Whenever I bake two layers I try to space the racks evenly, put one in the top right, the other in the bottom left and then rotate 1/2 way thru to ensure they are baked evenly. HTH

Be sure that your pans do not touch each other or the sides of the oven if you are putting them on the same rack. Also, if you are baking different sizes, be sure that the rack is even in weight or you could end up with uneven cakes.

I bake two pans all the time... no bigger than 2 12 inch ones though.. I put them both on the same rack.. and I don't let them touch each other... seems to have worked fine for me so far!!

I've bake with two cakes at the same time.

I bake all kinds of sizes together at times.

The simple command for this is "Know thy oven"
