I am attempting to make my niece a tinkerbell themed cake for her birthday. An I was wanting to have like a stream running thru like a grass area with tinks treehouse off to the side. An I want to have the water look really blue an like pop, what would be best? Not like icing blue but clear, does that make sense.

I use piping gel for water.
Color it blue.
Air brush different shades of blue where you want the water to flow then cover with the piping gel.

Does piping gel have flavor? If not, can you add flavor without compromising the texture? There's just something about the idea of blue tasteless jelly that doesn't sound very appealing! I need to make water also and I'd love to use gel instead of straight buttercream, but I'm leary of a tasteless goo...

I also say piping Gel ..and you can put edible glitter on the top to give the effect of sparkling water .

Piping gel has a sweet taste to it, it's not bad at all. I don't see a reason you couldn't add a flavor to it, for as much as you would need, it shouldn't change the consistency.

I made my own piping gel with a recipe I found on the net and then tinted it blue. It was really easy to do and keeps in the fridge for the next time I might need it. It is the water around my princess castle cake in my photos.
