I've got to try that sprinking trick. Thanks! icon_smile.gif

Is that a real song? It reminds me of the one that was incessantly playing in my head the day my daughter was born (on TV constantly). Daisy sourcream 2005... allow me: (ahem)

"You can brighten the day with a dollop, with a dollop, with a dollop.
You can brighten the day with a dollop....a dollop of DAISY!"

It was such an earworm that my husband (while in the hospital) started singing a song he made up to my daughter in that very tune... it's stuck ever since. icon_lol.gif Classic case of hate/annoyance turned into nostalgia.

I have never thought of putting nutella in my cake as a filling.. so do you just slap it on like it is, right out of the jar? or do you mix it with something? This is something I would love to try.
What flavour of cake would you use to compliment the flavour of the nutella?
I would love to know how you guys use it with your cakes..

Really it's good just about any old which way. I have used it in hazelnut cake but I mixed it with chocolate bettercreme to increase the volume. The time I made hazelnut IMBC I actually used praline paste rather than nutella, because I wanted a more pure nutty flavor rather than that slightly "processed" taste you get from Nutella (don't get me wrong, I love the stuff).

Last time I used it straight on the cake as a filling in Rebecca Rather's white-on-white cake, and then used plain IMBC (or was it chocolate imbc? or chocolate buttercream?) and WOW that's some good stuff. I just bought a jar to do the same with a little cake this weekend. I hope I can manage to leave enough to use for the cake cuz I can't stop eating it out of the jar!

I have realized in this one, single thread I have found my home, my sisters in food!!

OMG I LOVE Nutella

And just to make y'all a little jelly - I used to live in Italy. Where Nutella, Ferraro Rocher and Bacis were born

ETA: I forgot until this thread I was a fan of this on facebook!

icon_biggrin.gificon_lol.gif OMG i thought we were the only ones who had that commericals song stuck in our heads. It would come on in the morning before school when my son was small and he would instantly start dancing..and sing, "a dollop of daisy!". icon_smile.gificon_lol.gif We would blare the tv..omg that's too funny. But since then we have seen the commercial again and they changed the song! thumbsdown.gif It isn't as catchy as the old one. Disappointing..my son is ten and to this day we laugh when we talk about that commercial, too bad they changed it.

BJNZ..it's basically hazelnuts and chocolate blended together to make a yummy, super creamy, sweet, rich spread. You can eat it on toast, in cake, by the spoon..my favorite.;0) Nutella is just the name brand.

OMG! Hazelnuts are one of my absolutely favorite nuts - I always buy some at Christmas time and open them and stuff my face with them. Hazelnuts & chocolate - wow - I am going to find this Nutella and I am sure I will be singing too.

Hopefully the recipe for making it yourself gets posted.

Thanks for the info!!!!

i love nutella! great as a filling on it's own or added to BC or SMBC--mmm so delicious. it is expensive tho. i only buy it if i need it for a cake as the jar would only last a couple days because of this evil spoon that seems to always be in it scooping away ; )

They have changed the song approx. 4 times in 4 yrs! I know this because I went looking online for a copy of the song for her keepsake box (never thougt I'd want a copy icon_eek.gif ), but no go....couldn't find it. icon_sad.gif

His song went like this (although there are many versions)..
to the tune of the "daisy" song 2005...

"I'm changing my Tiny's diaper...my Tiny's diaper, my Tiny's diaper.
I'm changing my Tiny's diaper... my Tiny... my Tine." icon_lol.gif

(Her nickname, not her real name icon_rolleyes.gif )

I'm totally salivating right now, dreaming of Nutella! I let my Costco membership laps a few months ago since I rarely used it. I'm reinstating it today just so I can get in on the Nutella deal.

My favorite Nutella dessert:

Two slices of pound cake, spread both with Nutella and fill with sliced strawberries (like a sandwich), lightly butter the outside of the "sandwich" and put it in the panini maker. It is to die for!

Further to that, if you are looking for it in the supermarket, it is found near the peanut butter. They also carry it at Cost+ World Market (store brand, but it's pretty much just as good), Smart+Final, etc. Even Wal-Mart, someone said, right?? I know I have seen the teeny jar at Target.

Stacybugg75, you had better check to make sure your Costco carries Nutella if that's the only reason to reinstate your membership; I haven't found one in LA that carries it. thumbsdown.gif If you find one in the OC that does please clue me in, I might have to make a field trip! icon_cool.gif

Nutella Cupcakes - for my husband who is addicted to Nutella!

10 tbsp butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
3 large eggs, at room temperature
1/2 tsp vanilla essense
1 3/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
Nutella, 12 teaspoons. (1 teaspoon for each cupcakes)

Preheat oven to 325F. Line 12 muffin tins with paper liners.

Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add in eggs one at a time, until fully incorporated. Dont worry if the batter doesnt look smooth. Add vanilla. Stir in flour, salt and baking powder until batter is uniform and no flour remains.

Using an ice cream scoop or spoon , fill each muffin liner with batter. They should be 3/4 full, if youre not using a scoop. Top each cake with 1 heaping teaspoon of Nutella. Swirl Nutella in with a toothpick, making sure to fold a bit of batter up over the nutella.

Bake for 20 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.

Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

Makes 12 delicious cupcakes.

I'm a Nutella Newbie icon_lol.gif - I've had it with pound cake (o.k. Ill admit with just a spoon, too!) I LOVE the idea of adding it to chocolate icing.

Does anyone have any cookie recipes that use Nutella? I've only seen plain cookies that use it as a filling.

Hi, another nutella fan here. My little girl likes it on bread, I generally just use a spoon. Not tried it yet, but have heard that its nice with breadsticks

I will definately be trying the nutella cupcakes.
