Ladies I really, really need some help.I have wasted 16 sheets of the 2.5 round circles trying to get them to print with-in the round.I have tried everything I know to do.
I am using a IP3500 canon printer..and print shop software.I have never had so much trouble doing anything .I just can't get them to line up.I purchased the templet cd and it still will not work.So far I have shot a lot of money.
So if anyone can shed some light on this ..I would realy appreciate it.
Thanks

I would call the company for advice. Also use regular paper with circle in the same locations to practice with the software. Good luck. I don't have edible image printing things I been thinking of it, sounds like they may be more trouble then their worth.Hum.....................Again, sorry not to be of real help.

i've never done edible images before, but i thought perhaps you could print onto the plain icing sheets that don't already have rounds cut into them. then you could just print whatever you want without worrying about lining them up within the round. at the end you just cut out each image with a round cookie cutter (or any other shape you want). not sure if that would work since i've never used this kinda stuff before, but it was just an idea. good luck...

This is how I do edible image circles. I buy my icing sheets from Icing Images. I buy only the full sheets as tujy suggested. I use my own software which happens to be PrintShop 23, but you can use any software that you are familiar with.

It took a little playing around, but I made a template for 2 1/2 in cookies and 3 in cookies. You do this by using the circle shape and sizing and placing them the way you want on the sheet. The images end up being smaller because I use fondant and emboss the outer edge of the cookie. At this point, you can make any image you would like.

In order to cut them out, I went to Michaels (with a 40% coupon, of course
thumbs_up.gif ) and purchased a Darice medium circle punch. I also went back and purchased a large one for the larger cookies. I use these punches only for edible images. The downside is you have to take the image off the backing to cut it, the punch is not strong enough to cut both. I do not find this is a problem, as icing images are a bit stronger than they seem to be. I cut out the images, then if I am not using them right away, I cut out the backing, then layer them back together. Hope this makes sense and helps you out.

Here is an example:

In my experience, it's not your software that's screwing up... it's the sheets themselves. The circles are not in the exact same place on every sheet. So, you get it lined up perfectly for one sheet, then on the next sheet, the circles are off by half an inch! Grrrr!

As the others have suggested, cutting your own circles from a full sheet is the best way to assure success every time.

I LOVE linedancer's method. I do it the primitive way - trace around a cookie cutter with an Xacto knife. icon_smile.gif

Great looking cookies, linedancer!

I have the same printer as you, and wonder sometimes if it's the printer. I've had NOTHING but problems with it lately, and will probably purchase a different one.

Oh yeah... I just remembered something else...

Sometimes the inside of your printer can get gunked up with a build up from the icing sheets. That could cause the sheets to feed through unevenly. Running a cleaning program may help.

(PS - I have 2 RagDoll mix littermates - one is a chocolate point and the other is a tri-colored snowshoe!)

I have same printer, and had and have the same problems with it. One thing that helped me was I buy my paper from KopyKake, when you buy their paper they allow you to down load their KopyKake software for free. Since Ive done that Ive had no problems, it lets you move the design scanned to the right position. The only problem Im still having is that the ink gets clogged all the time. Only way I get it to work is I have to rinse the cartridge under very hot water then it gets unclogged.
I will be buying a new printer also very unhappy with it.

Good Luck, Hope this helps

Thanks, DianeLM . The next time you get an extra dollar or two and a Michaels coupon, go get one of the punches, I guarantee you will not regret it. IMHO, it makes the difference between good icing image cookies and great ones! Of course, you are probably much better with an exacto knife, I am a real bust with one icon_biggrin.gif

I too use KopyKake paper and never had a problem with the small circles being centered because I use their software. I also have a cannon printer which I love. I don't know how KopyKake paper compares with the others out there, but I love it and never have had a problem.

I use edible artist software and don't have any problems with my circles ( I have an epson printer). Here's a link to download the software for free http://www.deco.uk.com/content/view/101/137/ You don't need any credits to use it.

Your post is older but I'm wondering if you can help me.  I bought the Lucks edible paper sheets intending to do what you do but I think their sheets are somewhat thinner than others and seem to be brittle and they crack and break when I try to cut them with scissors.  I can't find a large enough punch anywhere - the cookies are 3" and I need the circles to be around 2.75".  I bought 4 boxes of the paper because I have to make 300 cookies and am not sure what to do - the paper is so expensive I'd hate to have to get another order.  I'm in Canada and it costs a fortune for Icing Images to ship here so wondering if you've any words of wisdom that might help.  I'd love your input as you seem to be really expert in the cookie department!  Thanks so much

Thanks a lot Leah - I think maybe I'll have to go down a 1/4" in size - it's going to take way too long to cut them all out with scissors!  Also, I just discovered that the bottom of the package of Lucks icing sheets wasn't sealed properly, it was mostly open - I'm sure that's why they were so brittle.  I opened another pack and they are much more flexible so I think I just got a dud pack.  I'll get the punch you suggested - it's certainly worth a try...
