Ladies please help me. I bake the NFSC tonight and iced in RI. They were horrible. Any Suggestion? Can some one help me what can I try next time or does anyone have a cookie recipe and icing recipe that taste good?

How were they awful? Taste, looks ???
NFSC are delicious. Shouldn't have been a problem. Did you use the recipe on CC? Get back to us with details so we can help.

I love NFSC! Could you have left something out?

Yes I followed the cc recipe, they were great raw, but cooked were very bland and did not taste well at all. I think I need to work on the consistency of my icing as well first too thick then too runny.

What did you use for flavoring?

Do you add any additional flavoring to the dough?

I always add an extra teaspoon of whatever flavor I'm using... but I like a stronger flavor in my cookies...

Oh ok next time I will add more and maybe that will help, we ended up throwing the whole batch of decorated cookies away, even the kids said they were nasty.

I don't even use vanilla anymore. I use strictly almond flavoring. Approx. 1 tbsp and 2 tsp. I don't use RI either. I happen to like Michele Fosters fondant. But alot use RI. And that shouldn't be a problem.

I can't believe they tasted that bad that you threw them away. Are you sure you didn't forget something or added too much of something? At least the kids should have like them. icon_smile.gif

THere is an amazing recipe on here for Dark CHocolate Rolled Cookies... Those are my very favorite, and they don't spread at all.

Thanks for the tip I will try almond. I went back over the list and I am pretty sure I remembered everything. They liked the icing just not the cookie. I think maybe it was just too bland and needs more flavor.

Just remember if you sell your cookies - almond can be bad as far as nut allergies.

I can't imagine not liking NFSC! I, too, usually add more vanilla for added flavoring. Also, this is the glaze I've used and it's very good on the cookies... adds that touch of extra sweetnes. http://cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-3763-0-Trishas-Sugar-Cookie-Glaze.html Give NFSC another try! thumbs_up.gif
