My favorite unnoticed cake would have to be the sushi cake that I just finished. I am SO proud of this cake. I took it to work w/me & really had a hard time cutting into it b/c I liked it so much. I definitely have a long way to go to be where a lot of other CC'ers are, but this cake came out almost exactly like I had pictured in my mind & I think it's darned good!! icon_biggrin.gif Check it out!

icon_confused.gificon_confused.gif that depends on everyone's own definition of "unnoticed"
less views? less comments? less favorites?

For me unnoticed is less views, because when I am doing searches all you see is little thumbnails so your pictures has to pop to grab one's attention, because of this some cakes go unnoticed.

I post pictures to give back, I have stolen so many ideas from CC I hope that one of my cakes inspire someone.

I like getting comments but that is not the reason why I post them.

Music Notes Here's one cake that didn't have as many views simple and adorable!

Hello Kitty Not many views and posted this one a long time ago....loved how smooth it looks that buttercream didn't have a single air bubble!!!

Well, I'd have to pick this cake for my favorite under noticed cake to date. The flowers are silk but I just loved how the piped leaves on the sides add to the design. So much of my inspiration comes from all the lovely cakes on CC. It's too bad that cake photos fly off the front page faster than the speed of sound because A LOT of really cool cakes go unnoticed and feelings get hurt. I try not to take it personally!

Okay, here are a few that I had hoped would be noticed a bit more than they actually were:

okay, I realized this was practice and it's not perfect, but I was happy with what I did (for only a 2nd time tying these technique) http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1326648

Thanks for looking, if you can.

Here's mine! It's actually the only cake I have posted right now icon_redface.gif , only because I feel that my other cakes are unworthy to be among all of yours! icon_smile.gif I was sooo proud of this one though, because it's only my second tiered cake, and my first time with calla lilies!

Here's mine. While it was simple, I loved it. The carnations were very, very thin which helped with the ruffling.

thank you for starting this thread.

As a Gallery Supporter, as I go thru the uncommented pics each day, it is always amazing how many really beautiful cakes (and cup cakes and cookies icon_lol.gif ) get missed. We do try to keep up but there is never enough hours in the day icon_cry.gif

Ok...now I have a new one...

http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1338238

I was proud of this one because in life, the 3 shades of plummy pink I used offset each other but in the pic, it comes across a bit murky and the central flower ended up looking purply so didn't seem to "go" with the rest of the colours.

But I liked it a lot and it was my first time making this type of bow which was harder to get realistic looking than I thought lol.

I completely agree with Niliquely. The recipient (my son) LOVED it, and that's really all I cared about. It was for his First Communion; he decided on his colors, designed his own cake, and was pretty adamant that the border symbolize water. I was kinda blown away by his creativity and attention to detail!

Want2bcupcakequeen, ceshell, bakery_chick, and Islandgirl thank you all so much for your kind comments. I was really happy with those cakes and was hoping they would have received a few more views/comments. I feel that I have reached a new decorating plateau (not that I don't need more practice). So thank you.

I think because so many people upload their cakes all at the same time, the cakes just passes by the front page so quickly that no one has a chance to notice them. All of the cakes you guys did are wonderful, and as long as you are happy and the person that recieved it was happy thats what really counts anyway right.

From what I have noticed here also is that most members notice cake more for neatness, originalty, color coordiantiona and execution, if it is gorgeous and flawless and the picture is professional looking with a backdrop with no mess distracting from the cake, those are the ones that gets saved as a favorite most of the time.

Also cakes that are more "girlie" get more attention, LOL, my favorite cakes are my more masculine types and I hardly get any notice from CCers, but I do get lots of attention from other website specific to the character I did in cake.

I love that everyone is posting their favorites. It's such fun to look through them.

Here are mine:

This was my all time favorite because it was my first time using fondant and first time making a shoe. My best friend loved it.

This is also one of my favorites because it was my cleanest looking work yet.

I agree there are SO many pics posted each day, that unless yo really browse through the galleries, you miss them! I always found it strange that the cakes I was MOST proud of and SURE everybody would comment on, went relatively unnoticed. But the cakes I thought weren't a big deal GOT lots of favorites. Go figure.

I have to say that I am the most proud of this original design:

And of course, my job nailing the corners on my first square cake, thanks to Sugarshack!

I gotta ask, were you both already interested in cake deco before you met or did one influence the other?

and who's doing the wedding cake or will it be your first collaboration icon_razz.gif

Congratulations to you both thumbs_up.gif

I became interested first and he would help me with some of the aspects of decorating like sculping or making figures. After my first competition he decided he wanted to try and came up with the idea and executed it himself. It was alot of fun to go to the comptetiion with both our cakes!

As for the wedding Im doing the wedding cake and the grooms cake is all up to him.

Can't believe I didnt know about this site till recently. I'm like a kid on here. I want to try and make sooo many cakes I've seen here! I thought 'unnoticed' would be the kind of cakes I would make; unprofessional. But obviously I was wrong and I can't get enough of looking at everyone's creations!!
