I really like these "love bird" cupcakes that I made for a bridal shower using their wedding invitation as inspiration. I was surprised that it received much less attention than some of the other pictures I have uploaded. But hey, it's all in the eye of the beholder, right? icon_smile.gif

Your cupcakes are absolutely precious. And spot on for those invitations. I'd be proud to have them.

I think there are many, many reasons why some really wonderful cakes are missed or less than noticed. Sometimes, it's just timing of when we put them up. Other times I think there is a stand out cake that catches peoples attention and they may not look further at other cakes. And sometimes I think if a cake is a very specialized type design for something specific, not a general type idea, people don't go to it, unless they also need that specific design. Two examples I have in our cakes are the Operation Game. I was really proud of the results of this one.

The other is the Texas Hold'Em card table. There is another on here that would put all others to shame, and hers was unnoticed but I did make sure to write her a pm and let her know how in awe of hers I am. She was the one who really pointed out to me about very specific type designs. Anyway, here are those two cakes:

I liked this graduation cake and worked hard on the gumpaste roses. My son said I should have just posted a close up of them. I guess it's just an ordinary cake to most people but I was hoping for a least a few encouraging comments from the 622 views. You can see it at http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2036704. Thanks for the post

Maybe add a few more "key words", so people will find your cakes more often.

All the cakes being posted on here are great! Shocked more haven't taken notice.

Here is my cake...http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2019455

I really thought this would get more attention. It was all my idea from beginning to end and I spent soo much time making it exactly what I wanted! The piping detail is a little hard to see with our birthday girls name in front so i regret that. Oh and pictures from my phone probably aren't the greatest haha!

Thanks for checkin it out!

Here's mine.

This took me 3 days. I was SO proud of this cake. It was for my daughter's 4th birthday. The top and bottom are cake covered in BC and the tree was made out of fondant.

TFL!

Here's one that I made for an elementary teacher's retirement party. I can understand why people didn't put it in their favorites because it is very personalized. But I worked so hard on it and it was probably my MOST PHOTOGRAPHED CAKE. I almost felt like Buddy or Duff when I saw people holding up their cell phones to take pictures of MY CAKE. Hope you all like it; it has lots of details.

Here is a cake I just made. I think it was up on the main page for five seconds. The newest posts don't seem to stay up as long as they used to.

This cake was fun and I feel it looked as close to pizza as a cake can look- right down to the grease ring in the box(yes I did that too- silly I know).

thanks for looking:

Well it seems I have another under-noticed cake. Oh well. I know it was a good cake, but the feedback i get from family is always gushing(even on cakes I hate). I like getting feedback from other cake artists because I know they understand the time, artistry and effort these things take.

Hopefully someone will see this post, I watched the website, my cake was on the new cakes for a total of 2 minutes. By the time I refreshed it was gone. I don't think weekends are a good time to post cakes.

I was looking up "cake designing" since I'm challenged with creating one cohesive cake out of 3 totally different themes!  Anyhow, this is thread is very old but I thought "what the heck".

Here is mine that didn't generate a single comment:  http://www.cakecentral.com/gallery/i/3397757/harry-potter-cake  I work full time so I chipped away at this over 2.5 weeks.  I learned many new techniques and how to brainstorm design challenges!  The second tier in particular had me stumped (dragon coming out of "book pages").

Wow that is so striking!  Such brave ladies, making cakes for weddings.  I just make special occasion cakes for my work place.  I don't think I could handle the pressure of creating something that is such an integral part of someone's wedding!

Fun thread.  Thanks for bringing it back to life @LynneCakes ‍ .  Your Harry Potter cake was crazy good by the way!

Not sure that this is necessarily my favorite cake with no comments but it kinda blows my mind that it had 1381 views and not one comment :-(

Thank you kstevens!  I'm really new here but understand that tons of pictures get posted and the veterans probably focus on their friends' cakes.  I too didn't understand how so many views could generate zero comments.  I was looking at another similar thread and someone mentioned that when she sees a cake picture that appeals to her, she expects details on the process and moves on if the post is too general.  For my cake pictures, I just said why I made the cakes, figuring if someone wanted my input, they would comment.  I didn't want to assume people here needed input from little old me!  Guess that backfired.

Oh well, ultimately I do it for the love of baking and cake decorating, not for external praise.  But I'd be lying if I said it doesn't feel good to have people who KNOW cakes say "hey newbie....good job!"  ;)

At one time there was a group of volenteers who would go through all the newly posted pixand be sure there was some comment made but for some reason this idea was ditched.   I seldom comment any more on pix.....
