Totally off topic, but GREAT tip! I just did this. Sooo nice. Although if I shop at G. S. A. I do like to click thru from CC so that they know that CC drove the business...but for those times I can just disable it temporarily. Yay!



I have ABP on my machine, and I still see the ads on the sides of the screen here. Is it supposed to block those?

It blocked the ads for me. Are you using Firefox, and did you actually activate ABP? Maybe it's "off" for some reason...? LOL I forgot all about the ads til you just mentioned them. Ahhhh...so peaceful...

I live in western pennsylvania. We do not make whoopie pies we make gobs. Gobs were originally made for the coal miners to carry in their lunch pails. They were always covered with wax paper, etc so a miner could keep his dirty hands on the paper and eat the gob. A gob (I think) is not as sticky as a whoopie pie. The name "gob" came from the scrap pile in the coal mines known as "gob piles." Enough history stuff.
I bake these for my hubby and his friends to take fishing with them. They love them. Here in western Pa we also have a cookie table at weddings and usually mini gobs are included with all the other cookies. They would dry out if not covered. I attached a photo of my gobs. The traditional gob filling is cooked on the stove first and then then powdered sugar, etc is added. You could cover them individually and then form a large stacked arrangement for a wedding. Ask anyone in western PA what a gob is and they will tell you. Ask them what a whoopie pie is and they won't know. Whoopie pies I think have marshmallow in the filling. I think it is so interesting to hear what special treats are popular in different areas. Long live the gob!! icon_biggrin.gif

I would update your firefox and then reinstall the adblock. See if that helps.

I'm glad most of you are finding ABP to work well! I'm sorry, but I don't know how to make it work if it isn't. icon_wink.gif

I wanted to add that if you are on a website that ABP is interfering with in some way, you can right click the ABP icon to disable it for that particular website. I know this because after months of using ABP, we suddenly couldn't watch youtube. Every video said something like, Sorry, this video is no longer available. I finally right clicked the ABP icon, disabled it for youtube, and no more problems. My son wasn't having issues with youtube and ABP, so we don't really understand what that's all about, but I wanted to share that little tip.

The gobs sound yummy, cakequeen! I don't use marshmallow fluff in my whoopie pies, but I know some people do. God, these things are addicting!

these might be a cute idea for a bridal shower I am giving. I could roll each one in colored sugar to match the wedding and then put them in cookie bags and tie them with colored ribbon. Might be cute.

what about the chocolate with oreo filling?

Okay... I just made some chocolate ones from the recipe listed earlier from epicurious. It is wonderful but how the heck do you get them to stay together and not slide off of each other!!!! I can't get them to stay together..
