New Cake Tv Show Casting For Un-Discovered Talent!

I applied for this one and I am gulping as I sent the email out
I need to lose some weight for that video because the camera makes you look 10 lbs. bigger !!! I don't need that type of additional weight on my shoulders! I'm already a stressed boricua!!!
Hey, Todolomio, I am WAY (WEIGH) LOL! overweight and I sent it in anyway! Just think of it this way, you will feel better standing next to me! Bwaaaaaaaahahahaaaaaa!!!! Come on.....give it a shot! Besides, who trusts a skinny baker!?!!?!?!?! LOL!!!
I got the email a response and a call, but I been a bit sick and I think I need to not get too stress with a competition right now.. I will watch for now see what happens with you guys...There are a lot of good competitors around here.

I am incredibly saddened by, not only the fact that you've been ill (that sucks!), but that you would stress over a competition that you would be perfect for. You are gorgeous beyond belief, insanely artistic and creative and your personality shines, you would be perfect on tv. I really hope you change your mind. You are awesome and the world needs to see this fact!

Excusas, excusas, excusas!!!! Get up, put a little make up to cover the dark circles, have a tissue to clean up any nose drips and turn on that camera girl!!! Your awesome and you have nothing to worry about! Besides your already a star hit on youtube what you worry about?

I talked to him for a while last night. He was really nice and helpful with video suggestions...actually said I was in the top tier of cake artists that they were looking at!!! He said to tell my CC buddies that everyone would get a response but that it might take a while since he's swamped.
I sent my video in on Friday....I hate video of myself! haha. I didn't have a super exciting cake to do, just a treasure chest I was doing for a customer. It was hard to fit everything in in 10 minutes...I ended up having to edit half of it out to fit the guidelines. I had my hubby take the first shot but I set up the camera myself to do the rest, I had enough trouble talking to the camera without a real person being behind it!
I wouldn't even watch my video after my husband filmed it - I thought I looked so FAT and just sounded TERRIBLE!! oh well - nothing I can do about it now. I sent mine off on Friday too.
you DO have to be a US citizen or have a US work release of some kind - Heath addressed this earlier in the thread if you want to go back and see if you can find it- sorry I couldn't help more!!

You girls are so sweet..lol Thanks so much for believing in me.. I am worried about the stress part..I got lupus and stress is the worst thing for it..I had a few weeks of 10 to 13 weddings wich gave me plenty of stress and made me sick. So even though I am not in bed, Im taking it a bit easier. I still dont know if I want to push myself into something extreme yet!..lol I guess I still have a few days to decide...But Im still not sure..

What's the worse that could happen? Seriously....you wouldn't win? That is the worse that could happen, right? That ain't nothin' to stress over. Winning would be awesome but chosen to compete would be just as awesome if you ask me. I'd be goin' just to have a fine ol' time with cake and icing and people who love messin' with it too.
Not like you could do any worse than anyone else! Daaaaaaaaayum...just get in there and do your thang!

all4cake - seriously Edna stressing? She does something wrong or not looking like her perfect work, all she has to do in that exotic intoxicating voice of hers say something like, I made a mistake and this is how I will fix it to make it perrrfect! If the cake doesn't get you, her gorgeous self will and then that voice? Ya, no stress there Edna, you are too good to stress!

I got my call last night! I've had to change my panties about 5 times since then - oop's, thinnk I just pee'd a little again, lol.
The application took me 4 hours to fill out!!
The instructions say that the app and video must be recieved by April 17th, via mail. And it states "the earlier, the better."
I won't be able to get mine in the mail until til Monday - the casting agent advised me to overnight it as he has to have it his hands in front of the production company Friday morning.
He said NOT to stress over the video - It won't be televised and they want RAW footage. They want to see you, your kids, your hubby, your friends... He said do NOT edit it - just shoot and send. It's for the sole purpose of selecting contestants.
I don't have an assistant! It's just little ol' me. So I called my friend with the greatest personality and attitude and willingness to try anything (no cake experience whatsoever) and she said yes!
Therefore, if I were to actually make it on TV, it would be a hysterical mess of, "Hey Jess, could you turn the mixer on?", "Yo Jess, can you knead fondant?" "Uh, Jess... HELP ME! The cake is FALLING!!!"
And then "Edna, wanna have drinks after the taping?"
I haven't been on in a while, and most of you on here probably don't really know me. But...I decided last minute yesterday to send in my info. I got an e-mail back this morning that he wanted to talk to me. This is totally awesome. I'm so glad I decided to join CC. I've wanted to do something like this for a couple years now, and wouldn't have gotten the opportunity without you all.
We'll see what happens. He hasn't returned my call yet, and after reading this whole thread I'm very nervous about the video thing. My daughter's quite a comedian, maybe I should have her narrate it for me.
Does anyone know if they are going to get back to everyone one way or another? Just curious 
Nashville, good question! I still have not heard anything back. Another poster sent a email yesterday and has been contacted. I just quess that I was not what they are looking for. 
I mean, just look at some of the pics and websites of CCers. I did not have a chance, but I will be a cheerleader for them. I can't wait for the show and more info about it!

Unfortunately, I think the answer is no, they won't. The agent who called me said that he doesn't call everyone, but he isn't the only agent.
I keep wondering if Buddy Valestro had any influence on this... 
The thread's he has posted in previously seem to always bring up the question of how to get on a Challenge and he gives us fabulous insight as to what it's really like to be in front of the cameras with so much stress in an environment that isn't your own kitchen.
I'm taking this in stride, but wow, it would be pretty awesome to have to deal with that kind of pressure.

Im just not sure about the stress...my body can't handle that much stress. The part were they supply all the materials is not something that helps.
I dont want to work with materials I never worked before.

You HAVE to!!! You are exactly what they are looking for! It's just for fun, really - he said there may not even be prize money, it might just be name recognition. But you'll be challenged to make cakes for big media events, like a movie premiere, and I think he said there won't be a panel of judges but I could be wrong. The client picks the winner (?). He said that this will open so many more doors...
I just finished an hour long application for Extreme Cake Challenge for the Los Angeles area. They want a video too! The deadline says April 17th.

Okay so I was going to apply but then I saw Edna's stuff. Go for it girl. I just have a very small operation out of my basement. I have only been decorating for 1 year. All self taught. 
I am a cook who is switching over to a baker because I lost my job and need to supliment my income. Good luck Edna!

Your turtle cake in your photos is adorable! You should upload more! Can't believe you've only been doing it one year...you should have seen mine when I only had done it for 1 year!!!!
Don't let anyone intimidate you from applying...if everybody thought that way, Edna would be the only contestant. haha.

Everyone WILL get a response either by email or phone. There are very few people going through all of the hundreds (maybe even thousands) of responses. Please be patient! They will get back to you!
