LOL....I just don't have any recent photos that don't resemble THAT. I reckon I could've done the webcam/myspace/chatroom shot(with camera stuck in the air and me lookin' all surprised like, "oh, you caught me! what IS that camera doin' up in the air like that???? uh oh, now, ya done went and got a cleavage shot in there too!" ) but that is sooooooooo not me...lemme try it just for fun....lol I am laughin' at the thought of it even.

Serenatea and Sugarflowers, both of you have beautiful cakes, I took a look at your photo's....and I have some of your cakes in my favorites.

Sugarflowers, maybe something went wrong with the e-mail or you might hear something after the weekend. If not try sending it again, if you are allow (sp?) to. Because it can't be because you aren't good enough, they (your cakes) are beautiful...and if they don't think so, they need a good hit with a huge piping bag

I'm volunteering now....as an assistant for anyone who might would like to abuse me...I mean use me as an assistant...that is if my mug doesn't get chosen as a competitor.

I was told that they were looking to start filming sometime between the end of May and July.

sugarflowers - I really wouldn't worry about anything until at least Monday - being that its the weekend, I doubt they are going through the email. When did you send your stuff in?? I find it VERY HARD to believe that they would call ME and not YOU! seriously!

Serenatea - I'm so glad you entered!! Get ready to make a video!!

Holy cow!! Its a laundry list of stuff they are looking for - they will send you the instructions and all the forms etc - Its supposed to be 10 minutes - I have NOT made my video yet but I have stressed out about it for the last 2 days!! haha!! I just don't know what to do!

Basically they want you to talk about yourself and your cakes, they would like for you to be decorating something - piping or icing or modeling fondant, whatever. They want you to show your family and/or other interests you have. He sent me a list of suggested questions to answer. Then there were instructions on how to shoot the video, what to do and not to do etc - and you are supposed to pack all of that into 10 minutes!!! yea - right!

be creative, high energy, confident, show your house/home, show your husband, your kids, you decorating a cake, a finished cake, show you at work, and doing another hobby or interest...blah blah blah! (ok, can you tell I really don't want to make the video!) Oh well! I think I'm going to get started tomorrow - I have a cake to take to a friend and thought that might make some good "footage"! ha!

Even if I don't get called at least we will get to see a new set of decorators (I hope). And maybe the judges will be different. We can only hope on that part!

Michele - Its kinda late here and sometimes I'm slow anyway - but I have no clue what that last comment means - I feel so silly for asking but I am totally LOST! haha!

This seems like a lot of fun. I think I will try and enter. I have nothing to lose and my cakes are never ordinary. I'm the guy they call when they need a tombstone cake, not the flowery wedding cake.

My husband works in video production, so IF they contact me back, I will at least have someone who is capable to shoot and edit for me.

Saying that, I have learned a few things and would like to make some suggestions to everyone who is doing this.

1) write a script. have a plan. especially if you don't have the ability to edit. Write what you will say and practice a couple times.

2) Make sure it's well lit, but not over lit. Do not shoot yourself in the sun and squinting, unless you're on the beach and trying to get a bikini shot to woo the judges.

3) Use a tripod. Do not go hand held if you can avoid it. If you must, lean your arm (or have whoever is shooting it lean) against a wall or tree or something stable. This is not The Blair Witch Project, and nobody needs to get motion sickness from your video.

4) 10 minutes may not SEEM like a long time, but it is. In TV and Movie production, they shoot 2-6 hours to get 10 minutes of air time. This is where the script comes in handy. If you sit and talk to a camera for 10 minutes, it may be really boring. So talk for a minute, shoot yourself working on a cake for 30 seconds, show a hobby for 45 seconds, talk for another minute... ya know?
