I Want My Lollipops To Stand !!!??!

My daughter's birthday party is on Saturday and for the last three months I have been asking her what kind of cake she wanted and every response is the same. She wants an all chocolate cake with chocolate icing with gummy bears. That's It!! Nothing else!! I keep asking her if she wants a charachter or a certain design, but she just says no chocolate and gummy bears. Well I intend to grant her wish but I would like to jazz it up a bit, maybe add some other colorful candies and maybe some lollipops. But I always seem to have problems with adding anything on a stick to my cake. The stick always slices through the cake and causes a mess.
Does anyone have any secrets on keeping my lollipops from slipping off my cake? Also, if anyone has any ideas or pics of a candy cake so that I can make it a little bit more special I would appreciate your help.
Thanks, Jasmine
How dense are your cakes? I stick things on wires and sticks into my cakes a lot, and have never had anything slice through. Maybe your cakes are really fluffy. I make mine denser when I know I'm going to be stabbing them with stuff
how about one of those candy barrel cakes with the kitkats around the sides, gummies bears poured into the middle instead of m&ms and some bring candies and streamers laying on the board.
I have done this many times. What I do is stick straws in the cake, same as dowelling, and use the straws for support.
Cut staws to length you want (length of cookie stick plus depth of cake)
and insert cookie stick into straw
have a good day, Sue
