Wow, Is Air Cake Impossible

I have had a requst to ship a cake from Ohio to Chicago is this possible?? How the heck do I go about doing that without a diaster!!!!!!!! Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! icon_redface.gif

I'm not sure, but I shipped cookies to my sister in Vegas, and USPS charged me $36! I'm sure it would have to be overnighted, and that would be crazy expensive. Probably use pieces of foam around it to keep it from sliding. How big is the cake and how would it be decorated? I think fondant would be easier to ship than buttercream, but I probably wouldn't do it at all.

I thought that I had read on here a couple of times that there were a few people who did this. I have no idea how I would go about it. We haven't even designed the cake yet she wanted to know first if shipping was possible.
