Hi everyone, I would like to make a 11X15 double layer rectangular cake for 10-15 people, but not sure if this is the size pan, cause I would like some extra cake for people to take with them. The other question I have is that I would like to shipped the cake to up state NY on dry ice, but don't know what kind of packaging to use. It will be going federal express. The cake is made of vanilla cake with strawberry filling and buttercream icing and same icing for borders and roses. Has anyone ever shipped cakes? and what was the outcome from the receiver's end. I shipped 9 inch cakes frozen and were completely intact, but this cake was much smaller than the 11X15 inch. Should I go with the 13x9 inch double layer cake instead? All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Have a nice day. icon_smile.gif

You can ask the people at FEDEX what is the best way to ship it overnight. Beleive me, it is expensive and you have no control over what the end user is going to get. Are you going to NY as well? I would think that you should be able to pack the cakes in the pans and wrapped really tight and wrapped with the bubble wrap and then in a box and gate check them ( I saw collette peters do this0 and the cakes came out fine. She kept them in the pan so that they wouldn't get damaged and if anything went wrong she had the pans so that she could re bake them. She did all of the icing and decorating in the state that she traveled to. I hope this helps.

Good luck

Thank you for your reply. I think that I'll have to take it up there, but maybe have some dry ice put on the side of the cake box within another box. Thanks again. icon_smile.gif
