Okay so I am leaving work in about an hour and I am planning on making a coconut cake this weekend for my nephew, but I want to put a chocolate ganache filling with slivered almonds and I have never made one before so this may sound ridiculous, but does the ganache get hard? will it 'smoosh' out of the sides when i put the other layers on top? should I let it sit and harden then add the layer on top? Is there a different chocolate filling that would work better?

I am planning on covering the cake in Buttercream and airbrushing it to look like some of the fishing cakes I have seen on here, then putting green fondant/gp rocks and blades of grass so it looks like a lake, so I cant make a chocolate BC for the outside. ANY advice is greatly appreciated!!!! thumbs_up.gif

Hi, my recipe is 1:2 ratio of cream to chocolate. Once I've made it, I let it cool and when it comes to a spreadable consistancy, use it as the filling. You also can whip it too!

14 oz dark cocoa candy melts
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

heat the cream just to boiling, remove from heat and add chocolate. Stir till melted and is smooth.
