Hi everyone!

I was driving down the road yesterday when a car pulled up next to me with a cake sign on it .. that ALWAYS gets my attention! So I mentally wrote down her web address and as soon as I got home .. straight to the PC to check it out icon_smile.gif
On her page she was telling about all the different designs/flavors etc that she did ... and this is what really caught my attention ... She said she did FONDANT BASKETWEAVE! icon_eek.gif What the ???? (of course she said it cost more because of the time to hand make the weave of fondant - but did NOT have ANY pics of it in her gallery ... there was one basketweave, but it looked like BC, and in my opinion, was pretty bad! icon_sad.gif ..)
I have to admit .. I have NEVER seen or even heard of fondant basketweaving!!!! I searched the web and of course all I came up with was buttercream basketweave.
Has anyone ever seen this? If so, can you direct me to a pic? I'd sure love to see it!!!
Thank for your time reading icon_smile.gif
Gaye

Lemme look real quick.

ah ha!! found it
its on the wildflowers by lori site on her 'meet lori' page
she was on Sugar Rush on foodtv and it shows her weaving some baskets.

That was a good video, it looks time consuming.

I did a basketweave with fondant for the topper on one of my baby shower cakes. You can see it in my photos. It really didn't take that long once I cut out all the strips. Of course, that basket wasn't very big! icon_smile.gif

I am so happy you asked this! I have a wedding in late June that wants a basket weave on the cake. (cupcake tiers with the 6" topper being a fondant covered cake). Those impressions are going to be the golden ticket for me! thumbs_up.gif

I also have a picture of a fondant basket weave, it was easier than I thought! It is the apple basket!

I am so jealous! Those girls are so talented. Love the team work. Such a cute cake. I have been wanting to make one & they make it look so easy. I was wondering I should do it on a cake with buttercream only or cover it in fondant. Anyone have an opinion either way?
