Holy Cow!! 5 days/ week!! That's insane! I wish I could get my a$$ to the gym that often!! LOL!

LOL! I have to make it a priority, and it helps that I have my own mini gym at home. All I have to do is walk downstairs to it. I usually work out a little when the kids are taking a nap in the afternoon and then again in the evening. Last spring and summer there was a point that I was working out 4+ hour a day. icon_confused.gif I was getting a little carried away with it...but I have set my limits now...

karizkakes here's that recipe:

Light Whole Wheat Bread

1 ½ cups very warm water
1 T. Fleishmans instant yeast
2 t. salt (I use lite salt)
¼ cup sugar
¾ cup graham flour
3 ¼ cups bread flour

In large bowl, sprinkle yeast over water and stir. Add salt and sugar and stir again. Add graham flour and about half the bread flour and beat until smooth. Add remaining flour and stir. Using hands, knead dough in bowl; add a little flour to keep hands from sticking.

When smooth and well blended, turn into another large bowl lightly greased with oil. Turn over. Cover with plastic wrap and let set for about 1 ½ hours. Divide dough in half and place into lightly sprayed loaf pans. Let rise for about 1 ½ hour.

Bake in 350-degree oven for about 16 minutes or until the top in light golden brown. Turn out of pans onto wire rack and cool. Store in airtight container. Will last about 4 days if not eaten sooner.

Makes 2 loaves, 12 slices each. Each slice =1 point.

I also use the same recipe for dinner rolls. Divide into 24 balls and bake in greased 10x15 pan.

Thank for asking...I really feel like a member of "Humpers Anonymous" now!

I am also at ww, and yes if I am doing a cake or two it is a killer for my diet. I work out loads, but I also eat loads...for a small person it is quite frightening how much I can eat! I only have 14 llbs left to get to goal but I know it will be a struggle as I just can't resist my own baking so there is really no solution!

You know, if we could combine this into a Weight Watchers AND Cake Decorating Forum, I would never have to leave this site. Of course, tearing myself away to exercise would present a real problem, and I don't know when the cakes would actually get made, but it sure would make for delightful internet time icon_lol.gif

You can lose weight and cake too! I am a Type 2 diabetic so eating much cake at all can be very bad for my health. I allow myself ONE taste of each flavor I am baking, NO icing. Cake scraps go straight from the cake into the big baggie for making cake balls for the grand kids!

I recently rejoined WW and I feel your pain!
From my past experience getting started is the hardest part- establishing new, better habits. Write down everything you eat- even the scraps, because seeing in print that you ate 14 bites of cake hump TOTALLY motivates you to stop.

If I have a meeting with a decent weight loss (more than 1 lb), I'll allow myself a splurge but only on the day of the meeting so I have the whole following week to make up for it! icon_wink.gif

If you have people around you who also do WW, it will be significantly easier because you will have people to commiserate with, encourage, motivate, etc... and while they may not make cakes, they will have their own weaknesses.

Good luck!

Am I making any sense??

ok like....now 25 jumping jacks....

I just started a diet yesterday and a friend of mine shared a trick she used when she was making cakes. She said she wore a surgical mask. Kept all those pesky little bites from finding their way mindlessly to her mouth. Probably helps to not smell it as much too. Said the surgical masks started to itch some, so she made a homemade one out of a soft hanky and ribbon. I think I will try this. I am a mindless eater and just stick it in my mouth without thinking, so I think if I actually have to move the mask to eat it, maybe I won't eat it. That's a big MAYBE. icon_lol.gif

Mint gum works great! Also, work with the trash can right next to you. Cake humps go IMMEDIATELY into the trash. Hubby whines about this, but that's just the way it is. I make him a cupcake of the flavor combination I'm doing so he can flavor test it for me.

Ok, my newest, most favorite thread ever. This is soooo helpful.
I've never joined WW or done a set diet such as South Beach or Atkins, but I am a serial dieter. I'll loose 5lbs one month, then go back to eating like a pigg and need to loose 7lbs the next month icon_sad.gif
My biggest problem is that I am a sugarholic. Even if I do fat-free desserts, I eat a ton and that is a ton of sugar. How do I satisfy the sweet tooth without so much sugar?

I am doing ww too. I started back in August and had a relapse in December and gained half of my weight back. As of last week I'm down 20lbs with WW and 26 overall. I still have a very long ways to go. I try not to eat the hump when I torte my cakes, but when I do I just calculate the points and add it to etools. I really try to stay away from the icing. I'm using Sam's right now so there really there is no reason for me to "taste" any since I know what it tastes like icon_smile.gif. I've had 10 -12 pts for cake on a couple of occasions.......

karizkakes,
Hodgson Mills Whole Wheat Graham Flour at Kroger. Have tried the same recipe switching around it for Whole wheat and it worked also. The Graham gives it a more nutty flavor.

I am also SO a sugarholic... I've started using Stevia in a lot of my foods since it's a more natural no-cal sweetener than so many others... It's marketed under names like Truvia, and even Stevia in the raw, you can find it at most grocery stores, even in podunk Iowa... icon_wink.gif

I find that the low SUGAR rather than the low FAT works better for me. You feel fuller (really!) and there's more TASTE when you leave some of the fat in. The first two weeks of South Beach is HARD, because they cut out the sugar, but after those two weeks, it's MUCH easier! There are so many options, especially if you can get creative with your food... Just the other night, I made Chicken Fajitas and a homemade low-carb cheesecake, and they were pretty darn tasty... I modified some regular recipes, and the WHOLE FAMILY ate everything (and liked it!), not just me on the diet! You can make GOOD food with just a few ingredients... Carb count for the whole meal? 2 grams of carbs. Boo-yah...

Also, has anyone else tried the lowcarb/sugar free Chocolate mints from Russell Stover?!?!? DANG those are good! I'd eat them even if I WEREN'T on a diet! Gotta ration them out so you don't overeat, of course, but that little bit of sweetness at the end of the day kept me going...

At ICE school most of the cake decoratoring and pastry students were skinny. I notice went they tried a piece of cake or candy they would just lick in or taste it and spit it out.

Portion control and eat in moderation. I use to weigh 215 pounds after the birth of my twins and now weigh 106. I thank weight watchers flex points.

Most of the skinny cake decorators chew gum, eat a low carb diet. One of my friends is a skinny cake decorating in NY. Before she starts working on gumpaste she make sure eats a hi protein meal.

Also, exercise excercise- in NY we walk everywhere. When I visited California I saw most people going through drive through an eating crap junk food. Try eating a home cook meal for a change.

I have used one 12oz can of diet orange soda to 1 box of DH Orange Dream cake mix and make 24 cupcakes out of this. I top it with Cool Whip Free topping. They are only 2 pts for a cupcake and very yummy. You can use any type of carbonated beverage with any cake mix. I have used diet Cream Soda with a vanilla cake mix and diet cherry cola with chocolate cake mix.

Of course, you have to stop yourself at one or it doesn't help!!!! icon_biggrin.gif
