OK EVERYONE I NEED AN IDEA FOR A WEDDING CAKE. IT IS ALL UP TO ME AND IT IS A LAST MINUTE THING. WE ARE HAVING A FAMILY REUNION NEXT SATURDAY AND ONE OF MY COUSINS IS GETTING MARRIED ON MONDAY IN OHIO AND THEN COMING TO NEW JERSEY FOR THE REUNION. I LOOKED AT THE PICTURES IN THE GALLERIES AND NOTHING JUMPED OUT AND CAUGHT MY EYE. HOPEFULLY SOMEBODY WILL HAVE AN IDEA BECAUSE I AM AT A TOTAL LOSS. I CAN DO WHATEVER - I DON'T EVEN HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT COLORS TO USE. THIS IS A SURPRISE FOR THE BRIDE AND GROOM THEY DON'T KNOW THAT WE ARE GOING TO USE THE REUNION AS A RECEPTION! ALL OF US IN NY, NJ, AND PA ARE NOT GOING OUT TO THE CEREMONY. I AM RUNNING OUT OF TIME. I WILL BE IN BASIC VEHICLE RESCUE CLASS ALL DAY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY FOR THE FIRE DEPT. AND I START MY NEW JOB ON MONDAY. NOT TOO MUCH TIME. PLEASE SOMEONE OUT THERE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY AND ALL HELP. CATHY

Maybe purchase cake plates that are 3-4 different ones (seperated). That way, you don't have to worry about stacking them on top of each other.

Also, maybe place a lavender ribbon at the base of each and use silk hydrangeas with a lavender shades mixed in them.

I saw this once and thought it was beautiful and simple.

Good luck!

You can do a simple two-three cake and cover it w/either BC or fondant and then do a rose or other flower cascade. Use fresh or really nice silk flowers to save time on making flowers from fondant/gumpast. Those are usually my fav. cakes. If you know what colors she had in her wedding, pick flowers to coordinate w/that.

THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH FOR AN ANSWER. I AM THINKING OF DOING SOME SORT OF FLOWERS. I WILL HAVE TO CHECK OUT WAL-MART EITHER TODAY OR TOMORROW. I HAVE A DRILL AT THE FIREHOUSE TONIGHT SO MAYBE I WILL GET A CHANCE AFTER THAT. I AM STILL NOT SURE EVEN WHAT SIZES. WE ALL LIKE CAKE A LOT SO IF I HAVE A NUMBER I WILL STILL HAVE TO MAKE OVER THAT. I AM DRIVING MYSELF CRAZY ALREADY! I SHOULD TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND TRY THAT BUT........HOLY CRAZINESS!

I like the idea of fondant and fresh flowers. Fondant will hold up well (especially if there are little ones running around and it's hot) and the flowers can be just thrown on the cake. All you'd need is a pretty ribbon and a trip to your florist.

Hobby Lobby also has a nice selection of silk flowers. Edible pearls and silk ribbon also add a nice elegant touch. I think you should make it simple and elegant. Don't stress yourself too much. You could also decorate your tiers with simple dots of icing...that always looks pretty and is not hard to do. Have fun and create whatever you want! icon_smile.gif

how many people do you need to feed with this cake??? You could stack a 14 inch 10 inch and 6 inch square or round. Maybe you can find out the brides fav flower and color and just do that. IF you cant get that info then just about everyone loves roses. Maybe you could use tulips i ahve been wanting to use tulips on a cake for a while havnet gottent he chance though. Since you dont have alot of time i think maybe I would do bc with fresh flowers. or if you dont use flowers maybe some bows made from fondant or even fabric would work. Tied around the middle of each layer half way up. Just a few ideas hope it helps

I saw a wedding cake once that was three tiers, stacked, and covered with white fondant. At the base of each tier was a pale green ribbon attached. That was it. There was a ceramic topper on top with no other decorations. It was incredibly simple and elegant at the same time.

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUGGESTIONS. I AM STILL NOT SURE HOW MANY PEOPLE. I HAVE NARROWED SOME OF IT DOWN. I WAS IN PRICE CHOPPER SHOPPING TODAY AND LOOKED AT THEIR WEDDING CAKE SECTION. I DECIDED TO GO WITH A 14, 10, AND 6 ALL ROUNDS. THEN I CAME HOME AND LOOKED ON HERE. I WAS VERY HAPPY AFTER LOOKING AT SUSANMM23'S POST. I AM STILL NOT SURE ABOUT THE RIBBON. I WOULD LIKE TO DO FLOWERS BUT STILL NOT SURE. I WILL ALSO BE DOING A SHEET CAKE FOR ALL OF THE AUGUST BIRTHDAYS AT THE REUNION. SO I WON'T RUN OUT OF CAKE. I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT THAT. TRACI I WISHED THAT I HAD A HOBBY LOBBY IN MY AREA BUT I DON'T. AC MOORE IS ABOUT 25 MINUTES AWAY AND I AM NOT SURE IF I WILL HAVE THAT KIND OF TIME BETWEEN NOW AND THEN TO RUN OVER AND BACK. I HAVE TO GET TO WAL-MART AND SEE WHAT THEY HAVE. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!

I BOUGHT A CASCADING VINE OF WHITE AND YELLOW ROSES TODAY TO GO ON THE CAKE. I STARTED BAKING THIS MORNING AND AM ON MY WAY IN TO DO ANOTHER. I STILL HAVE THREE LEFT. I THINK I WILL BE OUT OF TIME. I DON'T HAVE TO GO TO WORK UNTIL TOMORROW NIGHT SO I HOPE I WILL HAVE EVERYTHING BAKED BY THEN. I WILL ICE ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY AND FINISH DECORATING - VERY SIMPLE. THE WHOLE CAKE IS JUST GOING TO BE WHITE ICING AND WHITE BORDER. I CAN'T MAKE MYSELF TOTALLY INSANE!

THANK YOU TO ALL FOR YOUR HELP. THE CAKES ARE DONE AND THE BRIDE WAS VERY HAPPY TO SEE THE WEDDING CAKE. I WILL POST PICTURES SOMETIME TOMORROW. I AM JUST SO TIRED TONIGHT AND AM ON MY WAY TO BED NOW. JUST WANTED TO LET YOU ALL KNOW THAT IT ALMOST TURNED OUT TO BE A DIASTER. WE GOT TO THE TOWN WHERE THE PARTY WAS AND WE STOPPED SHORT, I WAS SO AFRAID TO LOOK. EVERYTHING WAS ALRIGHT - I WENT AND BOUGHT THE NO SLIDE STUFF FOR CABINETS AND THE CAKES WERE ON THAT AND DIDN'T EVEN BUDGE. I WAS SO HAPPY. I LEARNED THAT LITTLE TIP ON HERE! I DID A YELLOW RUFFLE (SOMETHING NEW TO ME) I WASN'T SURE IF I LIKED IT OR NOT BUT I STILL HAVE TO PRACTICE SOME MORE. I LIKED IT BUT STILL NOT THRILLED WITH IT. EVERYONE ELSE LOVED IT SO YOU KNOW HOW THAT GOES.
