A two tier cake for £40? Sheesh, my ingredients wouldn't be far off that. Is George meant to be mildly threatening with the monobrow? :-D

ALizzy I love coffee and coffee flavoured stuff. I love the smell when I open a fresh jar of Nescafé.

Ooh some of the other threads are enormously entertaining! For the wrong reasons sometimes but still entertaining. It isn't nice the way some newbies are treated tho. I've butted in a few times, sometimes to try to stick up for them and sometimes to play devils advocate. I've seen someone ask a question and they were torn apart, told to search the threads. I searched the threads and couldn't find a thread that actually answered the question they were asking. Maybe I would've if I had a spare week or two to trawl through bit just a ten minute look I didn't find anything. There's a thread going at the moment about grammar and slang, I love seeing the Americans argue about English, so funny! I couldn't help but stick my nose into that one!

Nanny I tried to colour SP black once, never again! That was last July and I'd only been decorating about 2 months, maybe the heat had a lot to do with the sticky mess I ended up with but I didn't know enough to realise it yet. Will you see/ hear from your dartboard customer? I'd love to know what they thought of the surprise inside.

Wow Kuushi, I don't know quite what to say! It's not a great cake so wouldn't be worth decent money but at the same time £40 wouldn't even make her a profit would it? Do you know what it tasted like?

AHahah! Lizzy I know, he's looking rather off. Even she said that, my sister in law. £40 is ingredients alone for me too! Oh well good luck to her!

Maisie no idea. Will ask her to tell me when she's tried it!

lol maisie, I know what you mean, I look like a weirdo in the supermarket sniffing all the ground coffee bags :D Hubby has stopped doing it now after he squeezed it a bit hard and the bag exploded over him. I nearly wet myself laughing at him

Hehe Kuushi - was a bit catty I know, but he did look like he was plotting something!

I saw that grammar thread Maisie. I did wonder if that james bloke has any discernible sense of humour, correcting what was clearly a joke message!

£40 for the cake how does she make a profit on that? I agree it's not the best. What size was it Kuuushi and how deep?

AMaisie, hope so, she did say she would, but then they all do, I really hate when they say they will, then dont, i mean what does it take, quick text, phone call, two cups and strings, just do it!!'

ANo idea Roxy! Found out it is basic vanilla, jam and cream inside. 10" and an 8" both 3" deep. Just have difficulty thinking that just because cake boss and ace of cakes is on everyone thinks they can pick up a bag of fondant and they are a cake decorator! Promises the world and when it comes to make it they think oh crap, why am I doing this for 40 again? How can I make my monkey not look so much like a moose plotting to kill someone with the banana it's holding?

Anyway rant over! I've finally got my Facebook up! Yay! Not much in there yet but you get the jest! :D

AThe funny thing was tho Lizzy he was correcting somebody else but actually his own apostrophe was in the wrong place. And the other one who was moaning about text slang, in one of his posts on another thread said "subbed" meaning substituted! I don't mind slang and abbreviations in the right places (here being one of them) and I don't think people should be made to feel stupid if they use it or if they're not good with spelling, grammar etc. for all any of us know we could be reading a post thinking their spelling's terrible when English is not even their first language.

ABlimey nanny, you might be proving gum paste john right with your "two cups and a bit of string" comment! :-D

It didn't look that big to me Kuushi, bad photo angle maybe ? £40 wouldn't cover the ingredients surely? Unless it was value flour and eggs from poor, unhappy caged hens. Ask her if it tasted nice.

I'm not on face book but I did have a look and what it would let me see was great. :-)

I don't see why it matters on a thread if someone's spelling and grammar is wrong when the point of it is to ask for help and advice from people who share the same interests but I guess it bothers some people. My spelling and grammar are terrible but I don't expect someone on a thread to pull me about it and be made to feel stupid like I've seen happen on other threads on here.

AIt's wrong Roxy, we're not here to sit an English exam and be marked on it. I bet m4rvel would have a field day if that was the case! I did butt in on that thread but only because they were being hypocritical and it was doing my head in.

Hahah! I've just noticed another mistake! Talking about spelling and grammar too! I'll just try again shall I?

What's he standing in front of Kuushi? It looks like a fireman's helmet to me.

Yay! :-D

AWell my Disney cake went down well, I think the wee toy figures made it rather than cheapening it! Had to give each star it's own pic as I over trimmed the wires to the same length so couldn't get a good arc.... All in all I'm everyone was happy :-)

You know I'd be tempted to buy plain cakes off that lady and decorate them myself for that price!! Not really lol... I'm quite proud of tasty cakes although it's amazing how many times I hear "cake looked amazing.... But everyone was astonished that it tasted so good!' lol

Did a last minute 2 hour cake today and hate it :-( SP wouldn't behave, a fly got on my sfp cutouts so had to redo them and it looks a bit sloppy too... so you're not getting a pic of it lol

AOh erm, I see. I must be strange then cos I'd have put his hat on his head! :-D Would've hidden his monobrow too if she had. And his face, and his belly! Oh I should stop now cos I know I wouldn't be able to make a curious George. My generic monkeys were bad enough!

AI'm a proper grammar nazi in real life, but not on the internet. As you say, time and a place. No one is here professing to be a English language master - and being dyslexic, an English as a second language speaker or so on is not going to stop someone being an excellent baker. Ridiculous.

Been checking out these Facebooks - kuuushi, a great start. And wow Nanny! Intimidated! ;) Might have given you a sneaky like... ;)

Mine is Facebook.com/bakerscakes

Love the Disney cake Grey. And I love a keepsake topper - as do the children that get to keep them and play with them... =)
