ABe careful with those tins, they give you the amounts, but they are for two tins, if you look at the amount or the 8" it says 6 egg mix, its way too much for just one tin honestly girls, and boys. I have them all.

Night Nanny going to do the same myself, my little Yorkshire terrier (sasha) has me up most of the night because she keeps getting up and down and I don't think she can see in the dark so cries at the side of the bed because she can't get up but then jumps back down 5 minutes later, she does this over and over all night she's driving me nuts Not her fault though bless her she's getting old.

Night all

I went with the Lakeland hemisphere in the end by the way (thanks for the recommendation) - in 8" and 6". Going with 8" for my minion - with a dummy tier too, otherwise he'll feed about 800. Any tips on how to use the hemisphere? I'm going to use a vanilla sponge in it and would love to get it right first time if anyone can help.

On the edge of my seat waiting to hear the next part of the Bridezilla saga Gray!

Anywho, I'd better get off to bedfordshire. Taking 29 little darlings swimming in the morning...

AJo I love your cake! No need for a fish tho, he got away, you shoulda seen the size of him!

I agree with newstreet, dr drake has a ring to it, dare you to change your user name Gray! :-D

Nanny, beautiful daughter, beautiful cake! She looks delighted. Did she know you were taking that photo to put it on the World Wide Web?

M4rvel, good luck with the 29 kids, I'm dreading having 2 kids at the seaside tomorrow, worried I might lose one!

Evening Kathy, glad you can come here and take your mind off stuff, however briefly. Did (and still does) me the world of good. :-)

Nice to see you too mel. Impossible to keep up unless you're on here every day isn't it!

I think I'm ahead of schedule with my cake, first time ever! I filled the sponge with jam and buttercream, crumbcoat end it with buttercream and I'm gona use a very thin layer of ganache to stick the cigarello's on. Doctors orders! (Geddit!) :-D Ok maybe it's time for me to go to bed! G'nite everybody.

AEvening all, or should I say morning again lol. Not so late tonight, managed to finish by 12:00. I'm actually pretty pleased with how it's turned out. I can't see how bad the board is at night so I'm thinking I'll just turn the lights off and shut the curtains and no one will notice :D. I like the idea of piping some scrolls though Kathy, if it's not totally hidden with the flowers I might do that. Still got a couple if strategic board flowers to place but it's basically done now

Jo, loving the fisherman cake. It turned out really well :)

Marvel it late and I'm tired and you comment about going to bedfordshire confused me. Sat here thinking why are you coming to bedfordshire lol

Looks great Siany!

Nanny the problems ive had! not with the cake itself, that went like a dream but the blinking clubs have been a nightmare! The putters I did in FP and they were sat for days drying...gave them a lick of paint and was very happy. Decided to pop them in yesterday and went for a coffee break, when i came back in one had fallen and one had split :-o I had no more FP or time to make another two so out came the royal .

The actual clubs I ended up doing in RKT due to the weight and theyve been just as bad :(

Im so annoyed because yes it was a challenge and very ambitious given the angle/structure/stacking etc but the cake looks so good and these last little bits have been horrible to do.......but hindsights a wonderful thing and I should have done these way before the cake doh!

I have though just discovered that the cake is for sunday not saturday so im hoping that extra day will dry the royal like cement

AI can't believe the site was down for maintenance at 6am!!! I have had to wait until I get to work before I can reply. So much to catch up on!

Barbara - that is a beautiful picture of your daughter and the cake - you must be so proud of both your creations! ;)

Jo - I love that boat and fisherman - when you first wrote about it I thought to myself what would I do if I was given that brief and I can honestly say nothing as good as that!

Sian - that cake is beautiful - you are such a crafts(wo)man. It is really stunning. (Re the Bedfordshire "thing" - had to laugh. When our kids were little we used to say they were going up the wooden hill - that led to all sorts of misunderstandings as they grew up!).

Tiddy - this is an order....go and watch Despicable Me and then Despicable Me 2. Honestly, I loved them. I hadn't watched the film before I made my Minion trio last year and so wished I had. When we went to Florida last year for my and my daughter's birthdays, I absolutely loved the Despicable Me ride in Universal Studios - so funny. Good luck with the delivery by the way.

M4velgeek - good luck with the swimming lessons - my son is a swimming teacher (he did it while at university). He made us laugh when he was given the ducklings class as his first ever teaching job. He sent them to swim widths (because he doesn't know anything about babies). He said the kids were really up for it and loving the freedom but suddenly he was besieged with parents telling him to stop as their kiddies had never done it before and they were too little! He argued that they were doing it and loving it but the manager told him to stop! Lol. Parents, eh? Anyway, I mentioned above that I did a trio of Minions last year for my daughter and niece who were 21 at the same time. I hadn't found this website then and baked them in large empty (obviously) fruit cans. Gave them all different personalities but so wished I had seen the film because I love Dave.

Hi Maisie - yes, it's helping a bit to take mind off things with my mum. She isn't going to get better but it helps a bit to come on here and have a chuckle. I have a cake to do in a couple of weeks' time - not sure I am in the right frame of mind but I have to do it as it's for my friend. Have a lovely day at the seaside and keep counting those kids! :)

Hope I haven't missed anyone out and sorry if I have - have a lovely day cakey people.

Kathy

AAt last! I was like a junkie without my fix when I couldn't get on here this morning! Morning all. :-)

Beautiful cake Siany! I love the rosary beads, they're so good.

We used to say wooden hill Kathy, well my grandparents did and I practically lived there when I was little so reading that evoked very fond memories. :-) You'll be fine when it actually comes to making your cake, you know you will.

Rain is forecast for porthcawl this afternoon. :-( I'm hoping they've got it wrong or it'll brighten up a bit by the time we get there.

I've put a dowel all the way through both layers of my cake (very worried about it travelling), it was so hard! I thought I was gona wreck the whole thing! It looks ok so far but the clock's ticking so I Gota go!

AI sing "you are my sunshine" to my daughter when I put her to bed, I replace "dear" with "Leah" and she genuinely thinks the song is about her and Leah is supposed to be in the song. :-)

ALovely cake Siany, I love billowing on cakes (ha ha sounds a bit wrong!) it's such a lovely effect! Very tactile, one of my wedding fair dummies has it on and loads of people want to poke at it!!

First cake of the day is in the oven, one more to bake and then it's on to making buttercream, ganache and the chain links for the handbag strap! Oh and icing the board and making it a wood effect!

Still really warm here which is not ideal at the moment, but can't complain! Think it's going to get very soggy tomorrow...!

AMorning all :-)

Well you're all much nicer than me at bedtime. Ours is more along the lines of 'bedtime, don't forget to brush your teeth'. Two minutes later 'It's bedtime, stop playing the drums!' Two minutes later 'I mean it, stop playing! What do you mean you've got a dress rehearsal tomorrow and you need a full gladiator outfit?' Two minutes later 'STOP. PLAYING. THE. DRUMS'. Two minutes later 'why are you down here? Well you weren't thirsty ten minutes ago. No you can't have a snack!' Both of you upstairs and into bed'. Ten minutes later, after answering all the questions that are suddenly burning issues for them 'night night lovelies'. Two kisses and sniffs later 'for goodness sake, will you brush your teeth!'

And then I look at them when they're asleep and think how gorgeous they actually are. This is slightly ruined by one snoring his head off and the other blowing off in his sleep I admit, but apart from that they're lovely :-)

Good morning!  I've been very busy the last couple of days doing the piping on my latest cake (just got to take pictures today ) and I come back to find I've missed out on cats 8O!  Hope the poorly cat is getting better (so sorry but I can't remember whose it is after all these pages...).  How many of us on here have got cats?!  There seems to be some sort of correlation between cats and cake decorating :D.  My moggy is called Tabitha.

Congratulations on your distinction, Siany!  Very well deserved .

I don't think it's possible for me to catch up! But here goes:

Siany - your communion cake came out fab! I read about your board trouble, I do that ALL the time too!!

Jo - I love your little fisherman, I think he has tonnes of character, the cake looks great!

Nanny - The cake you did for your daughter is stunning, I love the lace on it!

Maisie - contrary to everyone else I do fudge cake all the time, but I just bake really low, no dome even on 14" rounds, works every time. I hope you manage to get yours to do what you want it to though!

Tiddy - I'm looking forward to seeing your finished gold bag, gutted you've had golf club issues though!

I know I've missed stuff, but I'm hoping I might be able to keep up better now that my training has finished! I am back to caking next week because I have a birthday cake and a wedding cake to do.
