AHi guys. :-)

I've got a new iPhone, yay! My rubbish tablet is going back tomorrow and I can't wait to see the back of it.

Loads to catch up on, too much to remember I think but I'll try.

Gorgeous rosary beads, really lovely, can't remember who made them tho, sorry.

Nanny both cakes are fab, I especially like the boxing one, nothing wrong with it either, if you think there is you're being too hard on yourself, it's fab,I knew you'd do it. Great photo too btw, I love putting faces to names.

Chasingmytail, fab cake, love the purple and congratulations on being in favourites!

Cute booties, much nicer on a cake than sleeping babies I think!

I know I've probably forgotten people but there really is loads to catch up on!

Gray I did chuckle, I was reading through about a thousand pages, no sign of you..... Til you popped up to point out the double entendre! :-D

Yet another giant cupcake! It was for one of my daughters classmates, she's autistic, I'm friends with her mother (they live next door actually) and she cried when I took it round!

Oh and btw, I'm embarrassed to say I'm making a cake similar to the chocolate Jane Asher one next week, it's for my sister in law, I hope it turns out well now you've all said how easy it is! And I hope I've ordered enough cigarrello's!

AMorning

Here is a clearer picture of booties, can't believe I woke up at 4 am to have to urge to run downstairs and check that the bow hadn't my fallen off!

Didn't help that hubby and eldest daughter were out camping last night so not the best nights sleep. Anyway at least I'm ahead on this cake now. Will colour the corally pink tonight, people really have no idea the work that's involved do they ?!

Morning!

Jo yours booties are gorgeous the bows really finish them off you've done a great job on them ;-DAnd your right people have no idea of the work involved.

Can I ask everyone how do you stop getting bits of dust and stuff in your icing when making stuff I've tried everything and still get it especially in white Sp and if I use trex.It looks like little tiny hairs and no matter what I do I still get them. It's driving me mad.

Jo, I wipe the counter with SP. Get a small amount of SP, roll it into a ball so it's smooth and gently run it over the area where you want to work on, then throw it away. Doesn't always work but at worst you get less of the fluff.

Fluff is a PITA. The only other thing I do to take out fluff when I see them as I'm kneading/rolling.

Yer I do that to, do everything I've read about to try and stop it but just can't get rid of it, it's a hugh PITA.

Jo - those booties are really cute - I think they will look so sweet on the cake.  I often wondered how fiddly they were to make - now I know!

Maisie - love the giant cupcake - such a pretty colour too.  It is lovely when people are pleased with their cake.  When I got in from work yesterday, DD was watching Cake Boss on TLC and there was this awful girl (bridezilla) who deliberately squirted icing over her wedding cake because she didn't like it.  I am assuming that this was not all totally real - but she seemed to play the part so well that I was convinced at least.

You know I thought I was just a messy baker since I've never seen anyone else ask this before!

There's a couple of things I find really help;

I get boxs of blue vynyl gloves from ebay at about £20 a box or if you can buy wholesale they're way cheaper - they are reusable and after a few times are good for colouring SP so you don't get colourful hands!

Always dry your hands after washing using kitchen paper (same if you wash the gloves), the cheapest you can find it doesnt matter; don't use a towl I think that's where most of the fluff comes from

I also overspray the detol clear foodsafe worktop cleaner so it's quite wet dry off with kitchen paper

I would say I'm about 99% fluff-free that way :)

I were the gloves for colouring but not for everything else will try that, I already clean the worktop and dry both that and my hands when I wash them with kitchen roll.

ABianx, if its any help, when I made sugar blocks I used 2 smoothers, and get a ball of icing and use the smoothers to pat them into shape, like a butter pat, or you can buy block molds I believe.
