AThanks nanny and Mel. :-)

How come you can all make MMF and I can't?! I've tried twice and all I ended up with was a big sticky mess and a bogging kitchen! Have you covered cake with it yet Roxy?

Maisie I've never even tried LOL! I'm sure I'd end up in a big sticky sugar cloud though........ :)

Tiddy I was wondering if a trade account would be worth it with Culpitt, but couldn't see any prices to compare, I don't have loads of storage space so cant buy too much in bulk, but if they are way cheaper then it might be worth me looking into again?

No Maisie I've not covered a cake with it yet thought it best to let it rest as was getting a bit sticky with the heat, plus hubby person has used all but one of my eggs so can't bake a cake until I do my shopping tomorrow.Typical everytime the sun is out I don't have any cakes to bake.I should probably explain that I got free solar panels last october and when it is really sunny like this I can have my oven on all day and it doesn't cost me until the sun starts to die down, as soon as I have a bit of sun everything in my house goes in the washer

Of course you can have the recipe Petitecat, it is on my craftsy class so I don't think it will let me attach a link I will see if it lets me send it if I download it but if not I will print them out and the scan for you. It was really easy to make actually, cleaning the mess up I made when I knocked the icing sugar all over was more hassle

It's a vegan cake, and it's loooovely. Found it when my husband used all the eggs for eggy bread!

It is quite soft though so may not stand up to sugarpaste!

AHi all, thanks for your comments about my Alice display.

All of your Lakeland shopping is going to get me in trouble :D I'm going shoppig with my friend Friday and there happens to be a Lakeland there :). I see more cake pans in my future.

I bought a 10 inch pan a few weeks back for my boys cake and was going to just use the one and cook in two batches. I was in tk maxx today I thought I'd pick up another 10 inch (as you do ) got it home and put it with my first 10 inch which is smaller than the new one. Get the tape measure out and the original one is only 9.5 inches grrr not happy. So back to one tin again :(

Help please ladies. Ive had an enquiry for a baileys flavour cake! Yum!

Now I do offer loads of flavours anyway but baileys isnt one of them. Do you think a cappucino mixed with whiskey would work?

Thanks Tiddy! :)

Not sure I can help with a Baileys cake though as I've never tried to make one (no idea why come to think of it....I really should...!) My instinct though would be to make a chocolate cake, add a slug of Baileys to both the batter and the buttercream and see what happened......

Oh that's a shame Siany, I like to have two of the same size tins.my partner bought me these last year and I have since bought another set. It works out a lot cheaper than buying them all separate. The seller has loads of different sets.

Sorry Tiddy can't help with Baileys cake.

Lizzy thanks for the link the recipe looks good, I will try that my family love chocolate cake.

Grey I forgot to ask earlier do you make your own MMF then, what is the best way to cover a cake with it. I usually cover my cake straight from the fridge but have read that MMF does not like temperature changes, any tips

Actually I've never tried, I tend to have to spend money on ready made to save time, I do plan to try if for some family cakes though, that and Michelle fosters fondant (mff) which I hear is even better!

That's the one I'm planning to try next, probably in a couple of weeks when I've used today's MMF. Which brand do you use?

AI have tried three supermarket ones and I hate them all, too soft and sticky. Only good for cake boards.

Tried regalice and it's good, especially as you can get bulk colours like black and ivory easily round us but I don't like the taste.

Tried covapaste as it was on offer once way cheaper than regal, I like it's workability but I do find it gets really soft with kneading so has to be put aside for a few hours after colouring. Not fond of the taste either.

Currently using 'sugarpaste direct' sometimes I love it, really really love it... But then sometimes it's no better than all the others and it drives me nuts...

Still not found a perfect one! Doubt I ever will! Lol

I've been using Asda's and not really had any problems with it until recently when it has started tearing very easily. I don't like the taste of SP at all or buttercream really, strange I know for someone who makes cakes. My family seem to like the Asda one so have just stuck to that but with the tearing problem I thought I'd try the MMF and see how that goes. I tried navy blue Renshaws once and my family said it was disgusting.

AThat's lovely it's Like a little fluffy pillow!! How does it taste?

Ooh it's so perfect you have to Poke it ha ha it's crying out for a good poke :-D

You could Knead in some corn flour and fridge it for an hour before using it, that might stop it tearing so easily but I find it too soft for me.

I never eat SP anyway I just peel it off and the only bc I like is the flour and milk base one with really good quality butter :-)

Haha i'll give it good poke tomorrow. I only tasted a little and it is quite sweet but it could taste a bit different after being rested, my daughter loved it she's the SP fan in our house.I can PM you the recipe if you want it Grey I think it only took about half an hour to make and obviously will be quicker the more you do it.
