Siany, I make my cake in 2 stages, time consuming I know but I always get good results, do you want fairly deep layers?

I want it to have quite a good height to it nanny yes.

Sorry for the tardy replies, pulling up the old carpet to make way for my new floor tomorrow and going out tonight and babysitter cancelled last min do all manic here. :/

Hi everyone,

Jo, if you want to know how to make figures Lorraine McKay from extra icing. She is on FB too. And I use to add tylo to sp but it didn't work for me. It started cracking. So now I use 50/50 flower paste and sugar paste.:-)

thanks Bashini ;-)

ANo Siany, never ever used anything apart from greasproof paper on the bottom, never had probs with anything and I used to bake for a local cafe, not even sure why they are used.

AOk so just all in one method beat for two mins and then did you say to bake the mix in two halves? As in put half in then bake then put the other half in? Or make two lots of mix. I know stupid questions but you know what it's like when you start to overthink things. I confused myself hahahaha

ASiany, a 10inch round cake in this book I always use says a 6 egg mix mix with 350 grms of everything but I've gone to the next size with is 8 egg mix and 450grms, but I do two lots of 225grms for each tins or if you havn't got 2 tins , bake one then the other mix. Does that make sense?,

AYay yes it does. That's what I originally thought and then i should of just stopped thinking, unfortunately I didn't and thought myself round corners and got lost. :)

ASiany, I find when I make 2lots of mix like this it cooks so much better, lighter, its abit of a faff, but I much prefer to do it like this, it works for me.

AI don't mind faff if it works. Looking forward to trying it. I've been sat here browsing cake bits on eBay. Need to step away from eBay now lol.

AWell I've been doing it this way and method for over a yr, never failed me yet, I used to make for large cakes all the mixture in one tin only to to finding front of my eyes it would sink, so with wedding cake coming up I needed another recipe.

AMorning all. Had a bit of a late night last night so just trying to wake myself up and catch up on cc.

Sorry I missed you maisie but Hi!

I don't have any cakes planned for quite a while now and I've got so much work on I don't know if I'll have time to squeeze in any practising. It's my birthday at beginning of June though so if I'm making anything I could make myself a birthday cake haha. Would be a fun chance to make whatever I wanted!

AGod morning all!

Yes Jo, 3 tiers in the December wedding cake, bottom is lemon, middle is choc with 1 layer nuttella type ganache, 2 layer white ganache, then top tier is jam and cream, why do you ask?

Then next Oct I have a 4 tier, colleague in work, she's having lemon, choc, jam and cream, and red velvet cake, scary!

Ha ha , no idea Roxylee, thats whats she asked for so assuming its mixing a jar of nuttella into your ganache, hope it is that simple?

I warn her of possible nut allergies too, cos you never know, good job I have insurance!!

ANanny how funny it's Sunday morning and your being suggestive - proper lol :-)

The book looks good, does it have animal figures too ?

I only asked about tiers to see if you were still going to use your basic sponge for the wedding cake. The wedding cake I have been asked to do she wants sponge !

Sugarluva I thought I could do my own birthday cake too for end of may but got too many other cakes to do :-(
