I've seen that before and yes it is gorgeous! I'm sure your friend will love it.

Maisie, where do I start! There are so many designs I want to try too. How about this:

I did the ruffles for my pink handbag topper. It's fiddly but it's probably easier on a cake rather than a small handbag. I think those flowers are just beautiful and the pearl tier really complements the look. Have I sold it yet?

Otherwise on my to do list that you might be interested in: cake lace, stencil, painting, handbag cake (?), most of the cakes made by Maggie Austin (especially her flowers), flower spray (I have got to start doing this!), and so on and so forth!!!

Roxylee, have you tried 'patting' the cutters into some cornstarch, roll the fondant as thin as possible, then let the fondant sit for a few minutes before you use the cutters. HTH.

AThey're cute Siany, I've seen some like that in pinterest. Jean that's gorgeous, I'd love to be able to make something like that! Does it look quilted to you? I'm on my phone, I can't tell. That's something else I'd like to try actually! Yep, you might be selling it to me! :-)

Thanks petitecat I'll try leaving the fondant for a few minutes like you suggested, maybe I'm rolling my icing a bit to thick will give them another try. That ruffle cake is beautiful how would you make the ruffles. I would love to be able to do that.

AJust to clarfy I didn't make that cake. Its in my cakespiration folder- full of gorgeous cakes I hope to recreate some day.

Roxylee, you cut long strips of fondant about 1" wide and roll one edge with the ball tool. Brush the opposite edge with water or edible glue. I prefer to work from inside out- start right at the centre and glue the edges of the strips and keep going until you've formed a spiral. I'm terrible at instructions- lots of tutorials online though that will show and explain much clearer than I just did!

ARoxylee, When it come to letters, I use flower paste. You have to roll it quite thinly but not too much. With these cutters, you need a pin to take them out. The other cutter like script cutters, I flick them on to the board. But make sure you don't break them. :)

Thanks bashini I think I was typing the same time as you. I have tried the flicking them onto the board but part comes out and part stays in I will give the pin a try. I haven't used flower paste yet is it different to gumpaste?

AOh I love love it, lovely colour too, would love to learn how to do this.

Roxylee, they're a pain til you get the knack, keep trying you will get it.

Maisie, how is your daughter today?

No problem roxylee. flower paste is the UK version of gum paste which is used in USA. :) So it is basically the same.

Maisie, hope your little one is lot  better?

Hi everyone - not been able to catch up with it all.  Shall do that tomorrow now.  Nanny - I love the car!

Thanks for all your kind wishes - problems still continue - stuff happens sometimes.  Mum needs constant care and my sister broke her wrist last night and she is her main carer.  Hoping that Macmillan can sort out some extra help tomorrow.  Keep caking everyone!

Kathy

AI survived camping... Just. I actually had a really nice time and the weather wasn't too bad, well except for the Friday evening. Enjoyed a lovely farmers market I Bakewell on Saturday that had the most amazing cupcakes! I also came home bankrupt!

Anyway I think I have brought a cold back with me so I'm feeling sorry for myself and I'm heading to bed for any early night. I've just been catching up in everyone's cakes and they are all amazing! You've all done such a good job. I love the cakespiration pica too - I have lots of those! Those mini pig cakes are adorable!

Will catch up properly with everyone's happenings tomorrow...

AAw Kathy, I hoped it wasn't your mam, I remember you saying she was in a hospice mothers day. I hope you get some care sorted quickly and your sister gets well soon. X

Thanks everyone who asked after my daughter, she's still poorly, won't be going back to school tomorrow. The gp wants me to collect a sputum sample, you should see me grab the pot and dance around her hoping to catch something every time she coughs!

I'm off to bed now, g'nite all.

AAfternoon. :-) Sugarluva I missed your post last night, glad you enjoyed your camping trip (even though enjoying camping is incomprehensible to me!) Sorry you're feling poorly, hope you get well soon.

Haha! You made me laugh natt! Good luck with your interview and good luck driving round cardiff!

I know it's on this thread somewhere but we're so chatty it'll take a while to find! Did somebody say they''ve ordered chocolate cigarrellos from the chocolate trading co? I need tgem for a cake in June and I'm determined to be organised and not leave everything til the last minute as usual! It's for a party too, with people I don't know seeing the cake, Yikes!

AHi everyone...

Natt, good luck with your interview. ;-D

Barbara, can't wait to see your trainers cake!!! I am sure you are just guessing the size of the trainers?

So, here is the wedding cupcake set up at the venue...

Bashini, that is lovely. It's quite unusual to have a giant cupcake for the main cake isn't it (unless I'm just behind with the times!).

Just have a question about wedding cake delivery for my info- who 'receives' the cake at the venue? The bride and groom aren't there so does anyone sign for the cake? Or do you just go to a venue and just set up the cake and no paperwork needed/wanted?

AThanks Maisie and Jean. :-)

Jean, I have a form which I have to write details of the cake such dowels, non edible stuff. I give it to whoever in charge or the person you contact. And I straight away set it at the table.

Your car is fab nannycook, I wouldn't be disgruntled with that!

Pffff I seem to be turning so many orders away at the moment but they just keep coming so last minute it's infuriating! Do the think I have a magic cake wand?! Oh if only I had.... I'd use it to turn THEM into the cake! Ha ha ha ha......

Thanks for the info bashini!

I have family coming over this wednesday. We just arranged it over the phone today so I quickly went into cake action and made a coffee cake. Its just a small cake (6") but it will give me an opportunity to try something new. Hopefully it goes well.

Goodnight folks, chat soon!

AWow that looks lovely bashini. I love the bright colours.

I finally managed to catch up on what everyone has been up to. I hope your mum and sister are doing OK Kathy and hope your daughter is feeling better too maisie.

Nannycook your car cake turned our really well and I can't wait to see these tiny shoes!

I'm sure I've missed people out but I'm blaming this cold.

I have no more cake plans until 9th may when I need to make my mum a birthday cake - I can't for the life of me decide what to do though. I want to try something new that I haven't tried before. Anyone have any ideas (I know that's a pretty open ended question!)?
