You are right Lizzy - I don't really like chocolatey cakes (although I think I would make an exception for Nanny's - sounds rather lush) and I have had some lovely comments which made me blush a bit.  I bought a lemon drizzle that one of the guys made - it was really lemony....yum.

Kelsey - that looks amazing!  I hope you have a lovely time in Rome....didn't M4rvel go there recently?

Oh, I'm sorry, you DIDN'T want the 'my kid will need therapy after this' package? Sorry. My mistake. It was cheaper than the other lady quoted though so that's good. Right?

Phew!  74 posts since I last looked.

I just popped in for a minute - taking a break from the wedding cake.

It's all going horribly, horribly wrong.

It's easy on a covered dummy because the sides are perfectly, perfectly vertical.  But on a real cake - and I got the sides as straight as I could - a slight taper means the stencil doesn't sit perfectly flush against the cake and hence you get a @£$^%&* mess!

Close to tears and panicking.

Suzanne, take a deep breath (or a couple). Hope you find a way to sort it out. *Big Hug*

Lizzy, you too- hope you manage to make your figures.

Find your inner ninja tiddy, ladies! Speaking of whom, has anyone heard from Tiddy lately? She's not been on here for ages.

Yikes, Is batman blind? Where did his eyes go?

Jean - I don't think it's Batman whose blind here.......

Oh Suzanne - I'm sure it will be totally fine - you are getting yourself in a tizz because you are a perfectionist.  I know it will be all right.

Sorry to hear about the windsurfing problems Lizzy.  Didn't Roxy or Mel do some cupcakes recently along the same theme?  I might have dreamt it tho'

AOh crikey, you too Suzanne?

I'm really crossing fingers for you. Honestly, I think stenciling is fecking hard. You'll get it, just take a decent break from it or you'll get too bogged down.

I've *finally* managed to partially make one surfer. I hate it when I'm not into a cake, everything takes longer and is harder to do. Bums. If it wasn't for friends being shown all day I'd be very glum.

AI think Roxy did some surfboard cupcakes? Glad your cakes all went down well Kathy!

Oh dear Lizzy, hope it's going ok. I always struggle with a cake that I'm not too keen on design wise, is there anything we can help with?

Hugs Suzanne, maybe step away and have a cuppa for a moment? Sometimes a break is just what you need to reset your mind and keep the panic at bay. We've all been there with things not going to plan, you will be fine honestly x

ALol Mel, I watched the brad Pitt episode twice in two days :-D They still makes me laugh every time I watch them.

Jeez, I need to get a life!

I don't think there's anything I can be helped with, thanks. I know what I need to do, I just need to get it done but nothing's going to plan. They're meant to be diddy but they're not exactly turning out that way :/

AEvening all. :-)

Poor Suzanne and Lizzy, how are your cakes going now? Poor, poor Lizzy actually, I was sure your work would be finished by now, they need a luck up the backside I think, if you can't bring yourself to administer it how about Mr Lizzy? Lmao at your technological socks btw! :-D

Pretty necklace Kuuushi but I'm like mel, stuff like that doesn't suit me. I don't get on with accessories in general actually.

Really glad you raised so much for a cause so close to your heart Kathy. :-) I'm a happy bunny today, I went to a coffee morning to raise money for a defibrillator for a little boy with heart defects. They raised £1245, well on the way to the £2000 they need. :-) And I heard three people ask my friend (who organised it) which were my cakes and two people asked me. They were first to go and I so can't help being chuffed about it. They had cakes there from a proper cake maker too, I bought one but the icing was really sickly and synthetic tasting and the sponge was dry. She sells them for £2 each, plain sponge and a swirl of icing. I probably shouldn't say it cos self praise is no praise but mine were better, I'm so pleased. :-)

Ahem.....Maisie - you ARE a proper baker!  Stop saying things like that!

It was a very nice feeling that people paid for my cakes today and I got lots of compliments - which shocked me tbh.  I always thought that I could only bake a madeira or a fruit cake!  Still - I did win the best flavour cupcake in the work comp last Christmas.....blimey - I'm almost worthy of GBBO (not!  haha).  It's given me a little boost.  Not sure how much was raised yet but I did see a couple of tenners going in the box for my cupcakes!

Well I just watched Bake off on iPlayer - it's my guilty pleasure as hubby hates Mary if you recall.  I must say I liked the idea of injecting Baileys into a cake (not keen on doughnuts) and drinking it through a straw!  Lol (makes it look less desperate than having the straw in the bottle imo).  DD will be doing some hen cakes soon - I think this idea has legs methinks!

Well no filler flowers done today, but I could open a rose shop LOL! I am in looooove with the David Austin one though, it's soo easy and such a pretty girly flower! I have a feeling this is going to become my new favourite - no need for centre buds either, so cheaper to make too! Excuse the kitchen roll bits, it's still drying, but here's one of them!

Edited:  I'm back!  Those roses are beautiful and I think you've got the colour spot on Mel - can't wait to see the finished products.

AJust in time for my mental weekend, have been struck down with a horrible colds-fluey thing. Naturally cake clients wait for nobody, so the show has had to go on - and because I can hardly be seen to be caking if not at work, I have had to drag myself into school for the past two days too. Feel absolutely terrible and the cakes know it. They're not behaving at all...

Finished the first one. It looks ok from a distance, but a lot of imperfections. Might set up a cordon around it so nobody can get too close at tomorrow's party...!

Still can't post images, so you'll have to use your imaginations...
