AOk, if I ever get someone enquiring for a last minute handbag cake again, tell me not to LOL! Got a cricked neck and achy eyes from painting this one, am knackered! Pleased with how it came out, although if I had more time I'd look into a proper stencil for the pattern as I'm not too happy with the neatness, and I will make sure I get white petal dust! Used White gel mixed with coloured gel in the end which worked ok. Thanks for the rolling pin link, looks good but I couldn't use that unfortunately as I changed the patterning to avoid the copyright police :)

Will catch up with everyone else in the morning, I need a cuppa and then bed! :) night all!

AOoh, I like that Mel, well done :-)

I've just gone to find hubby as he disappeared about 2 hours ago. I found him completely sparko, fully dressed on the bed. I've come down for a sustaining cup of tea before I attempt to remove jeans and shoes from the dead weight that is currently sprawled on my flipping side of the bed!

Fabbo cake!!!!!

So, the 60th bday cake for tomorrow is weird! Customer asked for an 8"round cake with a photo of his mum on it, and a cat and cupcakes and the QPR logo. OK, that's fine. I've made a wee edible photo frame and an edible photo of his mum which will stand on top. It's a REALLY old photo - when she was in her 20s I'd say - so I can't help but keep thinking it looks like when they put a photo up at a funeral or something. I KNOW it's just me and there's nothing really wrong. However,  earlier, I phoned him to ask what colour cat he wants and he said white with black and brown on it... and he said it's a cat his mum had that died a few years ago. Oh great! So now with the photo that's creeping me out, I have to model a dead cat!!!!!! And we all know how much I love modelling!  I've done the cat...  well, half cat / half dog / half WTF??? (yeah, maths was never my strong point!)  It's RIDICULOUS ...  and I did tell him it would be 'cartoony' (which he didn't sound over the moon about).  It does ruin the cake, I think.  I REALLY wish I'd bought this mould...

I was going to, but then time ran away with me and I forgot!

I'm thinking about not sticking it to the cake and asking him if he wants me to take it off....???

Why does Cake Central do that with some links?  You can't type the word s-u-g-a-r-c-r-a-f-t for some reason.

ASugarluva I love Christmas too, never too early to start as far as I'm concerned. You can do your Christmas shopping in New York, you have no idea how jealous I am!

Fabulous cake Mel, really fabulous. :-)

Good luck with sleeping beauty Lizzy!

Suzanne I was laughing reading your post, sorry! I tried not to but I just couldn't help it! I wish I could show you the picture my brain has conjured up! :-D

I think it won't let you say sugar craft because if some old dispute between CC and a sponsor or advertiser or something. I seem to remember reading it on another thread ages ago.

I'm off to bed now. Night all. :-)

AHi guys, anyone near Bexleyheath? Kathy or Suzanne? One of the ladies here in the hotel was looking at my cake pics and says her brother in law is coming up 60 and she wanted a cake. I'm too far away. No idea what she is after other than he supports Spurs and likes to fish.:(

Got three cakes next week.

The three tier VW crazy woman cake, a single tier cake for my grampas 70th and two rugby balls on one board.

It's about half an hour away (depending on traffic).  As long as they don't want a dead half-cat / half-dog / half WTF looking thing on it, happy to give them a quote, LOL!!!

If you don't mind passing on my details, that'd be fab, thank you.

So I've just looked at the cake. I was HATING it last night, so I thought step away and look with fresh eyes in the morning.

Still looks like a half cat / half dog / half WTF dead thing splattered on the cake that's covered in mud and then been shoved up a chimney! (he wanted the cat white with brown and black)

A million, wow, restores your faith in human nature doesn't it?

Suzanne I've just had a look at your website and I am officially in awe of you. Your cakes are amazing. I love the feather wedding cakes, the plug, the tin of peas, I love the bridge between the pooh cakes, they're all gorgeous. My favourite is the costa coffee cake, I love costa coffee. I love coffee full stop but my favourite is costa closely followed by McDonald's. It's a standing joke in my family that when I'm shopping or picking prescriptions up or collecting pensions or anything I'll raid anyone's purse/ pension money bag for coffee! I don't know if a half cat/half dog/half WTF dead thing is going to fit in in there mind. Is that going to be the cakes official title btw? :-D

I'm really hoping to do some Xmas shopping in new York I'm just worried about suitcase space haha. You really should plan a trip there one day maisie, if you organise it early enough you can get some amazing deals on flights etc. Especially if you look at random airlines, for example we are flying to New York with a Norwegian airline just because they had a great price at the time.

Mel - I really love the handbag cake.  It looks fab.

Suzanne - I saw the mould and it looks really good.  The frame and the "dead" cat would freak me out.  Anxiously awaiting photos!

Nicola - are you going to the outlets in NY?  Woodberry Common I think?  Meant to go when we went a few years ago but were so caught up with sightseeing and only had four nights.  We flew to Florida afterwards and did all our shopping there but have been told that NY outlets are cheaper.  There was a great shop that I think was called Armani exchange between China town and Little Italy - however, there was nothing in my size!  Lol.

AI'm hoping to go there Kathy but we have such a packed itinerary it's finding the time! We're there for 7 nights but my boyfriend loves to plan and he's crammed so much in for us to do I'll need a holiday by the time we come back haha. I'm definitely hoping to fit in some shopping time though so he's going to have to work that into his plan somehow!

Saint that's lovely, the 'explosions' for the middle of the 8 work really well and I love Olaf.

AAh saint Siany, now I get it! :-D looks really effective, I love it.

I see what you're saying about children sugarluva and Kuuushi but on the other hand we can't all help everybody. I think people usually donate to causes that are close to their hearts, for some it's animals, some it's children, some cancer etc, etc. for example I donate to UNICEF monthly and the DEC whenever there's an appeal. My mother donates to the Bridgend dogs trust cos she likes dogs more than humans! I dont usually donate to animal charities but the fire moved me so much I felt compelled to help. Obviously a lot of people have felt the same. I do feel a special kind of sad when I read about cruelty to animals. They're defenceless aren't they, nobody ever accidentally ends up with a dog so for somebody to get a dog (or any animal) then abuse it or neglect it makes me sick to my stomach. :-(

AHaha saint siany silly auto correct!

That's very true maisie. I usually donate to animal charities because they're close to my heart, and I do tend to like animals more than humans haha, so I wasn't saying that it was bad that everyone helped. Just it's a shame we don't always feel the same compassion to humans as well. How someone can abuse an animal or abandon it is tragic. I understand sometimes circumstances change and you might need to rehome a pet but I could never just leave it at a shelter, I'd have to personally find and approve a new home myself.

2 more hours of work and counting...

Started to hum "Halo" by Beyonce - St Sian of Cakes - this is your anthem methinks!  I think autocorrect is one of the funniest things around.

I'm pleased that the terrible story about the dogs home has reaped some benefits.  Such a tragedy and it just goes to show that the good people outweigh the bad.  I read somewhere that people who abuse animals are well known to go on and do terrible things to humans - so if this young chap has already started doing this sort of thing, then somebody needs to jump in quick.  That's me off my soapbox now.

Just got a box from Squires delivered!  Excited.  St Sian - I've started collecting all the bits for the flower project.  I have to say - it comes to more than £50 - so am getting it in dribs and drabs.  I think I should have the bauhinia cutters.....what are bauhinias btw??  I need to look at some photos on google I think.

AYeah I got what you meant sugarluva. I maybe didn't phrase it very well. :-) it's good so many people have wanted to help, even people like me who don't usually donate to animal charities. I'd donate to every charity in the world if I could afford to but nobody can do that can they. I think we just have to choose our charities, hope we're doing the best we can, hope other people are supporting other charities and try not to worry ourselves into an early grave about the ones we can't help. Just occasionally something so big and so awful happens it moves people to help, to make a stand, to restore our faith in humanity. Not only to help but to show sick, twisted people that they really are sick and twisted and they're the minority. That's what's happened with the dogs home fire I think, it's warmed my heart to see the response tbh. :-)

You must find time to do some shopping in New York! If I ever get there I want to go in November/December, to see the lights and decorations, do some shopping, go to Central Park in the snow. My son asked us all what our dream holiday would be if money was no object and I said New York, he was quite horrified, he said its not, it can't be, there are so many better places to choose. Erm excuse me son, it's MY dream holiday, you can't tell me what my dream holiday is! He thinks I'm a philistine. :-D
