And the Lego cake sort of looks okay even with the candles!

AAw Maisie she looks lovely, what a pretty dress! :)

LOL glad it's not just me that appreciated the importance of my Twitter excitement. Told hubby - Who's that? Tsk!

Aw thanks guys, so glad you liked them, they were so fun to make! All done by hand (apart from the eyes) even the letters as I downloaded a 'Wonka' font and hand cut them :)

Roxy that's a fab figure! Modelling is really tricky, but I do think it gets easier with practise though. And cheating - I can't do faces at all so I bought head moulds LOL!

Kuuushi - Love the Lego cake!! The candles do work well, and the texture on your board is fab too! So are you officially off the clock now? I hope you have a lovely sleep tonight if that's the case :)

AGreat lego cake Kuushi. I love lego cakes and never had the right person to receive one!!! Great having them as the candle holders. Tins...I love my Invicta tins....I have a few non stick, clip spring form round tins....but would love to replace them with invictas.

ASiany, stick with invincta. You won't go wrong!

I was asked specifically for a 13" cake and I didn't have it so rather than buy it I rented it for £2 and took it back the next day. The results were amazing. Clean edges, strong sides and bottom. No warping at all. I've now got the entire round and square set in my wishlist that I keep reminding hubby I have!

I can't really shell out for Invicta at the mo, oh well I suppose I could get one 10 inch (the size I was looking for) but it just seems such a good deal Hmmm Thanks though.

AMy square invicta tins were purchased off ebay. I already had the 8"...but I got the 6, 10 and 12 from someone having a clear out...which meant I paid for less postage...a bit of a bargain that I managed to slip past Hubby :) My 6" hexagonal is also Invicta...it's amazing how many cakes I do with a hexagonal top tier. I love mixing up the shapes :D

AAny way bed time...had a particularly hectic shift at work this evening so was late home; and we have to pull the cooker out tomorrow to figure out how to sort out the blown element!!

I'm now thinking of a different board game instead of monopoly for my friend's 40th; we played it nonstop in our teenage years, even more than monopoly, so is quite personal to us...I'll probably still need to do a 12" square cake though.

Thanks Mel, I have one of the plastic moulds like the pme ones but its a child one so the head was to small plus I'm not really keen on the face. Like you said I will get better with practice and I will probably end up getting a mould head mould later on as I spend more time squishing bits than actually making it lol.

Siany I've not use those tins before but I got my sets of ebay and they look similar and I've not had any problems with them, I am tempted to get the hexagon set it's only £20 for a set of four just wondering how much I would use them.

Urgh! It's 1.30am and I'm calling it a night.

Today's creepie crawlie pool party cake was collected.  Customer - and more importantly - the birthday boy seemed very happy.  I realised just before they collected it that I forgot to do the ladder into the pool.  And I wish I'd done a beach ball in the water and/or life ring at the side.  However, from initially collecting on Saturday it changed to 6pm on Friday.  And then she called to say could it be ready for 4pm?  So in my rush to get it done, I forgot the little details that help give it a bit more presence.  Oh well....

Here's the link - NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE WITH A SPIDER OR SNAKE PHOBIA!!!!

http://www.cakecentral.com/g/a/3511332/swimming-pool-critters/

I've done the freebie cake for my friend.  He'll be thrilled with it, I'm sure, but it's SOOOOO plain.  I'm not happy.  I'll take a photo in the morning and if anyone has an idea how to make it look a bit bitter (but, like, taking 5 minutes, LOL!) I'd appreciate it.

Sunday's Christening cake is two thirds baked (I bake each tier in its individual layers.  I just get a better bake that way!)  and the drum is covered.

First thing in the morning I'll get the final tier in the oven and whilst it's baking and cooling I can do things like make the blossoms I need for it; make the quilled cross; make the buttercream, etc....

Right.  Night folks!

ps: sorry - SOOOO tired, I will comment on posts tomorrow. x x

AMorning all. :-)

Aw thankyou Siany, Lizzy, roxy, mel and newstreet. :-) I know what you mean Siany, we don't really "know" each other on here but I was more excited about telling you all on here than some members of my family.

Roxy that figure is amazing, I can't believe it's your first one! I don't think there's anything wrong with her face, it's really, really good.

Suzanne those creepy crawlies are so realistic! I don't think it needs anything else, I couldn't stop looking at snake, it's so good.

I was up til 2 am last night doing the raffle winners cake. It's only a pigs in mud cake but I'm really not happy with it. The mud is lumpy, the pigs look like they're sitting in top of it, not submerged. I'm so disappointed. I've got a bit of room between the ganache and the top of the kitkats so I don't know if I should melt some more ganache and pour it on around the pigs. I'm worried about spoiling it tho. Or I should say make it worse than it already is. Trouble is I don't know what time I need to deliver it. I emailed her yesterday but she hasn't replied yet.

I love everyone's claims to fame, you worked on corrie sugarluva? What did you do?

I have been an animal handler on several TV shows including Corrie, Blue Peter and some kids TV shows. Blue Peter was probably the biggest, I had to look after Barney the dog whilst they were filming on set but he's left the show now (he was Helen Skelton dog and she no longer presents BP). Corrie was a lot of fun though seeing all of the set and actors. Do you remember when little Simon Barlow had a pet rabbit? That was my rabbit! Hehe. The lady who owns the Corrie dogs usually contacts me when they want a small animal as she only really has dogs and cats.

Oh and I was listening to the radio earlier maisie and they were talking about Obama visiting south Wales and I couldn't help but think of Leah. She looks gorgeous in her dress.

Stunning cupcakes... Erm... Sorry I gave already forgot who it was!

Lovely lego cake too Kelsey you did amazingly well if it only took you 2 hours!

And I also love your Malificent (sp?) Roxy I think you did really well with that.

Hope everyone else is well? I can't remember if I welcomed the newbies or not but if not then welcome!

Miserable day here in Manchester think I'm going to hibernate for the rest of the day once I've finished with work.

Cake baked and cooling.

Elder son decides he wants to make pancakes for breakfast....  so naturally I ended up doing it!

Here's my friend's cake that I hate!  It is what it is, though.  A cake with an edible image of a bus - that I superimposed his daughters onto!!!  LOL!  I didn't have time to ice the board, even.  That's a cardinal sin as far as I'm concerned!!!!

Suzanne your snake and spider look so lifelike. What do you not like about the cake with the bus image on? It looks very clean a and smooth I wish I could get mine like that.

Thanks Maisie I think I might make a simple cake through the week to put her on. I still think the face is rubbish though I didn't have green dust for her face so had to make do with blue.

Thanks Sugarluva, yes it is SP with tylose added and some skewers inside for support.

Thank you, Roxy.  The bus cake is just SOOO plain.  I even though about cutting out some hearts and sticking them on or something.  But that won't go.  Maybe I'm so used to spending untold hours of my life on a cake, that a quick edible image cake that didn't take long doesn't feel right?  I just feel it's lacking something, but I can't think what!!!

What about doing some strips in the colours of the british flag so it look like the image is on the flag or something like that. I think it looks good though I would only do something else on it if it's really bothering you.

AIgnoring the fact that the mum wanted plastic toppers (I had found an amazing tutorial - in Spanish, but google translate FTW), I'm really pleased with this one. Went way overboard for the budget, but hey ho. Another learning curve, eh?!

AAwesome m4rvel! Love the rainbow.

I like the bus relznik. I think it looks good as is.

Well I've just driven for and hour and twenty mins (there and back, I'm not that mad lol) to go to my nearest home bargains and it was crap. Only decorating stuff was a couple of cake liners :/. So to make myself feel better I drive home to my local cake shop and paid over the odds for a 10inch invicta pan :D it was only about £3 over the top if found inline and I could go get it and not have to pay postage so I bought it. Oh I did get skewers in HB so I spent £5 in diesel to but some 69p skewers lmao
