AI must've been half asleep reading on here this morning cos I missed bits. I never see anything wrong with your SP Lizzy and I'm sorry but knowing you still have so much trouble with it makes me feel a tiny better, gives me hope!

Thanks catsmum. :-) yes I did do it but it was hard and I don't want to do it again!

Thankyou Roxy. :-) the pig is my favourite too. My mother said exactly the same about the squares, she didn't realise they'd be so small, it did take ages! Yes delighted he was so pleased.

Thanks everyone for your help, there are mistakes on it but overall I'm pleased and relieved and I don't think I could've done it without you all. X

Oooh lovely cake Suzanne, really neat! I like simpler bold designs as they have a really good impact! Look forward to seeing the cookies :-) I haven't done those for ages, I really must! Hmm my new Lakeland flavours do need a test run.....

Ah yes, I used cocktail stick method for the rose on top of my cage too, much easier! Then I added extra loose petals around it to fill the gap in and soften it a bit :-) The SP on the birdcage was really tricky! Used the panel method which I haven't done much, and it took about 3 goes (& a lot of binned SP as it was dark choc ganache underneath!) to get it right, and even then it still wasn't perfect, but was disguisable with the details thankfully!

Aw poor you Siany! Make sure you keep the smaller hearts though, am sure they will come in handy for something else in the future

Actually the were still soft enough to squish together and reuse. I'm not sure if the are going to be too soft actually. I added tylo to sugarpaste as I want them to hold shape but not be so hard as to not really be edible, I did think of using flower paste to start but they wouldn't be nice to eat so opted for this but not 100% sure it was the right call. Maybe 50/50 sugarpaste/flower paste combo would of been better.

Maisie awesome cake. It came out really well. You should be really pleased with it.

Lizzy, bit dozey from being up till stupid o'clock but do you mean you made the roses on cocktail sticks so you could put them directly in the cake or were you talking about the figures that the bride had made?

AI have a busy day today - should be on holiday but our outgoing chairman just flew in and it's all hands on deck! However, I needed a cake fix to set me up and what a fix! Mel: That birdcage cake is beautiful. I absolutely love the colours and the finish is fab.

Maisie - I still don't know what Minecraft is but the cake does look brill! I know you had a mare with it too but you wouldn't know. I got chocolate over my white SP on my cake - that's why it looked like a tart's boudoir! Haha.

Suzanne - I think that the cake looks good - even though it's not feminine. I do like a cake to represent what people like doing. I know my own cake (a bit of a car crash but thank you all for your positive comments even though I only decided to do it the night before!) was based on what they liked to do.

AThanks Siany and Kathy. :-) Kathy you really don't love that cake do you? I thought it was inspired tbh. And you couldn't see any marks on the SP.

Hi chezzabelle, hope your mam's better now. Look forward to seeing your cupcakes.

AHaha Maisie - you know me so well! ;) No - I didn't love it if I'm honest. In my head it looked a whole lot better but that was before I smeared it with chocolate ganache :( It was my daughter who actually got me out of the hole and started cutting out neon coloured shapes - note to self - don't mess with dark ganache on a white cake when you only have an hour to get it done as something is bound to go wrong.

Hi Chezzabelle - looking forward to seeing those cupcakes - I recently bought Peek a boo cakes off Amazon - did anybody else get it? I don't like it at all. There's a pic on the front of a large cake with M&Ms which looks good. In fact, I think it's the only one that does. I didn't like the way it just wrote everything out without any photos on how to get to that point.

Oh - went to Makro yesterday and they have a fine foods section now with Belgian chocolate and also cigarillos in there. I think it's £5.95 for 100 cigarillos in white chocolate. I have no idea if that's a good price but if anybody needs some urgently, maybe quicker to go there than to wait for the post.

Maisie, what on earth were you worried about? That is a dead cool Minecraft cake! And I'm glad my cr***y covering makes someone feel better

Thanks Catsmum :-) They are a labour of love aren't they? I always think I'll do the quicker version as that's what the quote covers, but I never do. I am so never ever going to get rich doing this job :-?

Yep Siany, made them on the sticks instead of on a wire. It makes it a bit tricky to hang them upside down to dry... :-)

Right, off to cook a roast chicken for dinner with plenty of veg. We've had a dreadful week for eating - at one point I counted apple crumble as fruit as we've had so little this week!

Lizzy apple crumble should always be counted as fruit

Hi Chezzabelle, hope you mum is better. Looking forward to seeing your cupcakes.

Kathy I've never hear of the book you mentioned but saw a rainbow cake filled with sweets in the last asda magazine, it just looked like they had cut a circle out of each layer then stacked them and filled it with sweets before covering. Not sure I fancy sweets inside a cake myself but my daughter would love it.

Speaking of my daughter she wanted to make and decorate a cake together, we were originally doing a birdhouse with tweety pie, then she didn't want tweety pie just a nice birdhouse and a bird at the front, then she ended up changing her mind again and we have ended up with a dog kennel. We have covered it in SP and she has decorated the board, we still need to airbrush it and make the dog and some bits. Will post pics tomorrow when we've finished, she has had enough for one day she didn't believe me when I told her how long cakes take, then again does anyone :D

Mr Roxy is on the couch in pain someone at work stood on his broken toe :ouch:

AYes Kathy that's a really good price, I paid a lot more than that for mine. No makro's near me tho I don't think. :-(

Thankyou Lizzy. :-) And of course the apple in Apple crumble counts! I was going to cook today cos I've got a leg of lamb I didn't use Sunday ( why I bought it for the day before I had a cake due I'll never know! Like I'd have time to cook it!) but I couldn't be bothered so we've just ordered pizza. I shall be counting the tomato sauce, mushrooms, pineapple and onions. Blimey, we've got four of our five a day already. :-D

Poor mr roxy, always the way tho, once you injure something you catch it and bang it on everything. Can't wait to see your daughters cake, I love seeing the kids cakes. :-)

ALol, well I feel much better about my crumble now  And you're practically a health guru with that dinner maisie :-D

Looking forward to seeing you and your daughter's kennel roxy :-)

Poor Mr roxy, I hope it's not too bad. My sister had wires in both her little toes after a hammer toe operation. She stubbed one several times which was bad enough, but then she was using a sledge hammer to whack an axe into wood she was chopping... I'm guessing you're already there with mouth open and a funny argh noise escaping you, I know I did when she told me. Long story short, she now has four toes on each foot, one because of the hammer and one because of repeated stubbing :-o

Yeah, it wasn't very nice, and she did get sympathy for it, particularly the hammered one.

Of course the sympathy didn't last that long. When she had them amputated I sent her a couple of pairs of those socks with toes - one pair had the little toes cut off and sewn up, the other pair (my favourite) had stuffing sewn in both the little toes so she could pretend she had all 10 :-D She still wears those ones, makes me laugh every time as where the stuffed toes are it makes them stick out at right angles

Nanny, got to love the 'you couldn't just add this...' message haven't you :-) You'll do a bang up job, even if you are up all night! I can never believe how long it takes to do small amounts of cupcakes (as in lots of different types), it's so deceiving.

Going to try making SMBC tomorrow for my strawberry and lemon buttercreams. The two ingredient choc buttercream is blooming awesome!!

This is my nights works. Got another 240 letters to cut out tomorrow. Gonna be seeing them in my sleep.

Was in work yesterday and abit of a stressful day so was knackered last night only managed to make toppers or one set of girlie cupcakes, made 2 Mini bags, shoe, a cameo and 2 hearts with 21 on.

AMorning all. :-)

Lmao at your sisters socks Lizzy, you're wicked! :-D cupcakes are ridiculous aren't they? Is it just me or does it seem like a lot of work and a lot of mess with not much at the end if it, I much rather making big cakes.

Aw poor Siany, I'm still dreaming in minecraft squares so I know how you feel, those letters look tiny!

Considering you were knackered nanny you got a lot done. Are you in work today? I was reading reading your post yesterday and I wondered how you'd have time to get the order done, it sounds like a lot to fit in around work.

I was coerced into donating a cake voucher for Leah's school fete raffle in June. The winner phoned me last night, she wants it for the 6th. Yikes, I'm terrified. I couldn't do this for a living, I'd crumble under the pressure! I feel like she's a customer, I was sending her emails about designs and flavours etc, felt very grown up!

ALizzy those socks are gonna tickle me all day! that's the kind of silly stuff that goes on in our house!! though you did remind me of a moment blanked from my brain of when our neighbour had an incident involving long grass, sandles, a flymo and a helicopter ambulance...... cringe......

Well done Maisie! I always worry that voucher winners will phone me the day before feeling entitled the a cake when they dictate the need it! far more stressful than an actual order in my opinion! ....I've turned a lot of people down recently, probably about 2 calls a week as I want sept free to do my Granda's submarine and I really want to get away in Oct....

OMG has anyone ever done a shirt collar before??? it drove me mad last night to the point of an actual childish foot-stomping tantrum! took me sooooo many attempts and I'm still not happy with it but it has to stay now it's glued on and due tomorrow! sheesh

Hope you're all well, sorry I'm so quiet these days.... work is nuts and home life is doing all that DIY that normally can be done over years but now needs done in a few weeks to get the place ready to sell...... I bet after all this rushing it'll sit on the market for 6 months though.......... pffff

Morning

Siany I don't envy you that's a lot of letters, they look good though.Sounding stupid now but what is two ingredient chocolate buttercream?

Nanny that's typical isn't it, no cakes for weeks then a last minute change to the order. You seem to have got quite a bit done considering you were knackered, I work really slow when I'm tired. Looking forward to seeing your cupcakes.

Maisie you'll be fine, I know how you feel though I was a nervous wreck making that pillow cake a while ago.

Hi Gray looking forward to seeing the submarine for you grandad. I am planning on doing some did myself soon need to redecorate my hall stairs and landing, there are so many doors and woodwork I keep putting it off. I have seen some paper I like so I need to get that and get my butt into gear when my daughter goes back to school. I was laying patio flags in my garden but it keep rainings so I haven't got to finish it yet.

If I was to set a tier towards the back of another tier would I end up having a collapse even if it's dowelled?

No problem at all just move your dowls so they are directly below and evenly supporting the tier (which means they will be off centre in the tier below)

the only thing is it makes it a PITA to carry cos the weight is more on one side.

google 'stepped wedding cake' you should see a few examples :)

AI do it all the time Kelsey, it's fine, just do what Gray said :-)

Ahhhhhhh! Flymo and sandels Gray? Why would they do that??

Maisie, it did make me chuckle all the way to the post office :-D Much like when I sent my b-i-l and my brother two plums in the post after a certain op :-D My brothers was the best though, as my sil intercepted the parcel thinking it was a birthday present. He opened it on his birthday, about a week after they'd been sent and had gone a bit of a funny colour. Apparently they were quite a good representation at that point  It's not all one way though, they have done their fair share of pratting about to me :-)

I hope your house doesn't take you too long to do Gray. If your diy is as precise as your cakes I reckon you'll have sold in a week!

How's your daughter's kennel coming on roxy? And your cuppies nanny?
