AWow it has been a quiet day!

Hope your BBQ and chequerboard cake went ok Kathy! I've only done a chequerboard once, it looked fab but kept falling apart LOL! Luckily it was just a 'play' cake so we didn't care

Siany I charge £20 for a dozen simple cupcakes (sprinkles only) and £25 for detailed toppers, so £1.75 per cake sounds good to me, loads of luck with that order! I hope you have lots of storage space and cooling racks LOL! Hope you had fun at Legoland today!

Aw sounds like you've had a lovely day Kuuushi! I might see if hubby wants to go and see 'Lucy' if it's that good! Have fun picking your holiday :)

Hi everyone else, hope you're all having a good weekend!

Well, I'm all ready for the wedding tomorrow! All cakes are done and boxed up ready to go on their 3.5hour drive tomorrow - eeeek! Wish me luck, I'm terrified the birdcage is going to fall over on the way. Can't decide to carry it or put it in the boot....

Slightly nervous as this is the first wedding I've done a cake for that we are going to, that's not family! No place to hide if anything goes wrong. Not that it will. Must think positive

Right better get to bed, very early start tomorrow!

Hank you so much for everyone for your lovely comments. Yes, the map is printed on an edible image. Couldn't think of any other way to do it and very easy!!! :-D

Kuuushi, that another gorgeous cake!!! :-)

Siany, well done not the cupcake order! :-)

Here is yesterday's wedding cake. The mother of the bride picked it up and had a bit of trouble getting it into the car...

AYes Roxy, the 1st.

If I get there that is, the volcano had blown so who knows!

4 yrs ago when we went it happened then, right up til 4 hrs we weren't sure if we could fly we had to ring the airline to check, thankfully it was ok. It can only only happen to us honestly.

AMorning everyone - Bashini your cake is wonderful! We cut it very fine with the cake yesterday. Didn't even get proper pics. Had a bit of a mare when I got dark chocolate ganache on the white sp! So had to stick shapes all over it. I don't have any pics at the moment but my daughter put some on our FB page. It's not the best cake in the world but it's definitely different! The checkerboard sort of worked and stuck together. I got the idea from cake boss!! I think my daughter took a photo and if I can get a chance ill try to put it on. Kathy

AMorning all. :-)

Lots to catch up on but not as much as I thought there would be. We must've been busy little bees yesterday.

Roxy I got your checkerboard description, it rang a bell actually, I've seen a tutorial somewhere I think.

How was legoland siany? I've been thinking about taking Leah there or maybe paultons park (peppa pig world) but she doesn't like big, busy theme parks so it'll probably be a waste if money. I'm better off taking her to porthcawl and letting her go on the teacups all day, she loves them and by the time I've paid for 4or 5 goes in a row without taking her off the man lets her stay on for free for a while!

Gorgeous cake bashini, love the bikes, love the sunflowers, gorgeous!

Good luck with the drive mel and enjoy the wedding.

Nanny you must be so excited. :-)

I spent last night making more minecraft figures and cutting squares. I cut loads and I still don't think I've got enough. I am going to attempt a square cake. I'm nervous but I've got a plan b and a plan c so if I can't do it it's not the end of the world. Quick question, do I cover the cake with SP then stick the squares on or stick the squares straight onto the ganache?

Morning all

I'm sure it will be ok by the 1st Nanny and you will be able to get away and enjoy your holiday, how's the knee now?

Siany how was Legoland?

Maisie I haven't done a minecraft cake but I would cover the cake in SP first so there's no chance of ganache going on all your squares.

I'm sure it will be fine Nanny it's only 24th so hopefully by the time you go it will be ok, I wouldn't like to not know though and not be able to get sorted. Try to rest your knee a bit more before you go, I know it's easier said than done but try anyway.

AHi cakeypeeps. Just had about 20 pages to catch up on. Phew!

Took my 90th birthday cake to the party yesterday. Fruit cake bottom and lemon cake top tier. I seemed to have been making flowers for ages and then didn't have much space to use them once I stacked the cake. I made carnations 3 weeks ago then decided the yellow wasn't the right shade as I wanted a more lemony shade so last weekend made another batch which I was happier with. However when trying to make a spray just couldn't seem to get the combination of roses and carnations right so ended up just using the lemon roses. I can make flowers but really struggle arranging them. Maybe I should do a flower arranging course. Anyway pleased with the end result and I have some flowers in store for another occasion.

I tried the Squires Kitchen coloured SP for the first time and I have to say it was the easiest covering ever.

Very coincidentally sat with some people at the party and a man next to me said he had been off work since Jan suffering from cluster headaches!! I'd never heard of them before Tiddy and now him. Hope you had a better night Tiddy.

Great cakes everyone. Dying to see your pics Mel.

Lynne that is a beautiful cake - I love that shape on the top (I have the same tin!).

My cake yesterday is not really one for the record books - a bit embarrassed to post it really but do you know after the week we've had, I'm just pleased I got something done:

It's a bit of a mess of a cake really - all those different things going on!  But what do you do when everyone is going away and we can't get stuck with tons of cake (there was soooo much food at the BBQ too - I am completely not eating meat today!).  I think Roxy was asking about the checkerboard - I still haven't got a pic but it was easy to do.  I did a red velvet and a vanilla - sliced them in half and then cut circles out and stuck them back in the other flavour cake and then stacked them. I'm rubbish at explaining! Lol

Kathy I really like your cake, I like the way it has a different side for each person with different things one, the baking stuff is so cute. Love the board shape to. It was Maisie asking about the checker board cake I was trying to explain to her how you make one, I would love to see the picture though.

ABeautiful cake catsmum, I love your flowers, they look very well arranged to me. A flower arranging course would be a good idea if that's what you struggle with, I think it would be interesting and fun too. Or maybe a flower arranging magazine, there's bound to be one, there are magazines for everything these days.

Kathy it's brilliant, what are you on about? I love the different sides for different people too.

It was me asking about the checkerboard. I had the mental idea of doing it for the minecraft cake so when it's cut the pixels will be inside too. I watched a YouTube tutorial and decided against it. I've got enough to do already with all these blooming squares!

My sister in law has just announced she and my brother are renewing their vows and she wants me to make the cake. I don't know. I want to say yes, I won't be as worried about a cake for my brothers vow renewal as my stepdaughters actual wedding but I still don't know.......

Oh Roxy that's so sweet of you.  I think the only thing I am happy with actually is the stuff around the side!  I think the thing I am most pleased with are the eggs!  Came to me in an inspired moment!  I love the fiddly things if I'm honest.  I loved the mixing bowl and the cake mix and the raw eggs.  My aim was to put something on there which represented what they loved to do.  They loved it and I was touched - even though I only finished icing the darn thing while we were loading up the car getting ready to go to the BBQ!

Aww Maisie - you are so sweet too.  Thank you.   Yes the checkerboard cake....well I didn't know there was a tutorial!  I had watched it on Cake Boss!!  Anyway - it really worked well and all stuck together - despite my worries.

Oh - and edited because I just "lost" my screen - I cannot wait to see the cake you are going to do for the wedding vow renewal.

Well I think it's lovely and you've done a great job especially on the fiddly stuff, it takes me ages to do fiddly stuff I tend to squish more than I make lol. I'm not surprised they loved it you can see a lot of thought has gone into making it personal for each of them which isn't easy on one cake for three people.

AKathy, a very clever concept to combine all those ideas. Well done. You must have the patience of a saint.:)

Maisie - of course you must say yes. They will have seen what you are capable of and would not have asked you if you weren't good enough. You'll get loads of help from here if you need it. Which would be first, the vow renewal or the wedding? You just need careful planning and time.
