AThat's good, I just remember my tutor talking about it last year.

Can you not get it down there for the Friday? It would be a shame as it deserves to be entered.

Just had a query on a three tier butterfly cake. But is only has to feed 50 people, on the smallest it would be 4,6,8 and that's 70 portions. I also think this is a case of ideas above what the budget can stretch to. Part of me doesn't want to send the quote as I know it's going to be too much :(

You'd have to go down on the Thursday night really and if you have a cake entered you really need to be there on the Sunday when they do the presentations if you win.

Can I pick your brains on a price I don't know if I am over charging (quoting) for this but everywhere I have looked is around the same ballpark.

What would your charge be for this, one choc, on vanilla one marble. 4,6,8

Thanks for the nice comments - it means a lot to me that you think it's a good cake. I am so proud - when I think back to all those times when she sat so still and glued to my side but not touching anything....I could almost shed a tear!  (Well - who am I kidding....I did do that).  I know it's not perfect but it just doesn't matter somehow!

Sian - I love your cake - have no idea about pricing really but if I can kick off by saying what I would look to pay, then it would be in the £220 ballpark.

Tiddy - The nice thing about doing cakes like this, at your own pace with dummies, is that you get an idea of just how much labour is involved and so you know how much you'd have to charge to make it for a paying customer.

Tiddy your cake is gorgeous, such a shame you can't get it there for the competition. I have seen those floral balls before, I can't remember where but they were on the top of cupcakes and looked lovely.

I'm very bad at grammar, which is why I think marvel doesn't speak to me as much, think he's tryin very hard to decode my posts, ha ha.

Maisie your hubby is a mirror image of gumpaste John, he checks doors, mainly handles, lights, Windows, puts his glasses cases in a line, does everything the same on a daily basis, it has to be a man thing, yes?

I was wondering that. Hopefully all went well and a lovely day was had.

So today I shall be mostly sat twitching at windows waiting for the delivery man to being my agbay. I may also have to bake a cake to test it on :)

Kelsey, how'd the cake journey go?

It. Was. A. Disaster!

Oh my god seriously, 4 hours in the back of a car with a cake on my lap.

Okay so originally it slid and I had to royal it back in place. That worked awesome, so I thought that the journey would be easier. I was so wrong. Up until about 2.5 hours in to the journey it was all good. Then the traffic started. Stop, start, stop, start. The sun was beaming down on it and it just broke. The royal broke off and created a crevice all the way around and it was shaking constantly! Finally got to BIL house and was so glad I anticipated an accident as I had a pot of royal and piping bags with me. I watered it down to piping consistency and pipped in the crevice. Was gutted but no one noticed! As you can see she now has a white belt lol!

Then they go ruin it with candles... :@

M4rvel I've read you don't have to have every trait to have ocpd, my husband isn't a hoarder (but that's cos "stuff" interferes with his clean, tidy, orderly obsession, and actually he does hoard some things come to think about it). He's not a list writer but I think he has a list in his mind that's he's constantly aware of. Apart from that it's him to a tee. We rib him about his "OCD" all the time but it is only ribbing cos he doesn't do strange things like locking doors 17 times or switching lights on and off. He always says he hasn't got OCD he just likes things done properly. Blimey I could write pages here now, It was like reading a description of my husband, I couldn't believe it!

Yeah, I don't have every trait either - I'm not a hoarder either, everything has to be neat, tidy and have its own place. Both at home and at school. My classroom is like a showroom. I couldn't work in a mess.
