Hi Kuuushi, yes, I don't like them either. And those two people from Merci Beaucoup cakes use to work at Cake Diva's. Their work is not neat at all. But I love Chrisopher Garren...

I noticed that! I don't like those either bashini!

I am also glad that Laurie from Cake Alchemy got away from that woman she was originally with from Cake Altier. Very very closed minded person and treated customers with a vision different than her like lesser beings! Laurie is doings so much better now on her own!

My favourite is cake girls I looooove Brenda she is amazing! Christopher garren is hit and miss for me. I think sometimes he does absolutely stunning out of this world cakes but sometimes he misses the mark!

I don't like that Italian boy from the new series the cake artist I think he's called.

From the new series I like the white flower and the bother woman. It not sure what's shes called. Both do gorgeous work!

AYes, I like cake girls too. Did you see the one that made a sweet box opened and sweets coming out? OMG!!! I will be a nervous wreck if I get something like that to do. Also in the same one Christopher made a treasure box cake and that was amazing!!!

Few weeks ago I saw that Italian fellow hammering a centre dowel and made one tier crack!!! If it was me, I will do it again but this guy just royal iced it and covered it with accents....

Love your tattoos m4rvel, I have to ask, does it hurt you or are you just used to it now?

It does hurt, but it's tolerable. As time has gone own, I've for better at tuning it out. I read a whole book during yesterday's session and I have been known to fall asleep too... ;)

Really depends on the artist though. The girl who did my thigh piece felt like she was digging for shrapnel. That was hard going. I'm having another thigh piece on the other leg in three weeks and I've heard that this artist is quite rough too... O_O

I had a disaster delivering today's cake.

After photographing, I removed the shoe as I thought it would be safer to transport separately. There is a cocktail stick in the heel for support, so I put the shoe on some polystyrene and transported it off the cake. When I got to the house, I discovered the shoe had completely broken. Virtually in tears, I took the cake in and explained what had happened and explained that I had an 'emergency repair kit' and could I use her kitchen. She said of course. She was very nice and I did manage to cobble together some sort of repair (excuse the pun!) It doesn't have the 'Louboutin' signature on it now. I used a little royal icing to try to stick it together, then rolled out/cut a new inner sole to cover the join. She isn't the actual customer though - the customer is her SIL (the cake is for their MIL).  I've tried to phone the actual customer a couple of times but can't get a reply.  So I've sent her this email.

"Hi Lxxxx

I'm sure that your sister-in-law told you that upon delivering the cake today, I discovered that the shoe had broken during the journey and I sincerely apologise for this.

Fortunately, I always carry an emergency repair kit for all cake deliveries and I was able to repair the shoe. The only difference to see is that the Louboutin signature is missing.

However, as there was a mishap, I feel it's only right to offer a refund of the cost of making the shoe, which is £20.

Please let me know if you'd prefer a cheque or direct bank transfer and I will arrange it straight away.

Once again, please accept my apologies.

Kind regards"

If she's happy with the repair, hopefully she'll tell me not to worry.  If she's not happy, I hope she'll think this is a fair offer.  Under the circumstances, I don't think I could have done much more.  There certainly wasn't time to make another shoe before the party at 7.30pm (in Epping, so half an hour away from me).  I feel getting in touch with her ASAP and offering this before she asks is the professional thing to do.

You can't begin to imagine how gutted I feel.  In the 8 or  9 years I've been doing this professionally, something like this has NEVER happened before.

Dont beat yourself up about it, you have done the right thing and hopefully she will be fine with the repair.

When I make the jimmy choo cake (louboutin one soon) I add the coctail stick in the heel and when i put it on the actual cake I RI the heel and ball to the top. I have always transported with shoe in place just incase this happens as they are not an easy thing to whip up if a break occurs.

I bet she will be fine :D

AOh Suzanne you poor thing! Well done for fixing it though, but I can understand how gutting that must have been. I hope the customer is nice and understanding about it! *hugs*

Oooh I don't like Merci Beaucoup or Cake Divas! I'm not big headed at all, but the finish on some of their stuff is awful! I saw one yesterday where they made a kangaroo (which actually once covered wasn't too hideous) but the state of the cake inside - OMG! It wasn't at all level, chunks of cake all over the place! How it stayed in one piece I will never know!

Had a small hiccup today with the birthday cake :/ Had a huge air bubble blow out while we were out shopping! Punctured and smoothed it, but I suspect the SMBC is just a bit softer than I'm used to and it's not working quite like normal :/ Now got to come up with a disguise for the damaged area and hope it doesn't happen again......

Look forward to seeing your cake Lizzy, hope you get a nice relaxing evening tonight after your all nighter.

Suzanne your cake is fab, such a shame about the shoe but it sounds like you did the right thing and I'm sure your customer will be happy with that.

I don't like the cake divas either, love the cake girls and christopher garren and I like the little flower shop and the gateaux inc out of the new series.

Awww Tiddy sorry to hear you had such a bad night again, you need to make that appointment and see if they can give you anything else if your meds aren't working anymore, you poor thing. Looking forward to pics of your dummies.

AThat's rotten Suzanne, especially when it was so well done. Have you heard back yet? If your lady is anything like my chap was for my first disaster a few months back you won't have a problem. I think making the offer straight away is key, it shows you're genuine and I think people appreciate that.

Your twins came came out really well m4rvel, were they pleased with it? I can't believe that you have fallen asleep while being tattooed! How does it work that some tattooists hurt more than others? I'm sure I'm being really dense here, but are they not all working with the same tools in the same way? Do some go deeper than others or something?

I'm sorry you're having problems mel, how annoying. Can you make your flowers in front of the teams at least have a bit of movie time?

Your cuppies and cheesecakes look so tasty sugar. I could dip right into those jars about now (yes, jars, plural. What of it? :-D).

I'm just sorting out photos (well hubby is as I'm pooped now :-)) so I'll post in a bit.

It's being delivered tomorrow, but have sent a pic and she's pretty thrilled. Was fairly last minute, so she'd better bloomin' be!! ;)

Tattooing varies person to person. Technique, speed, how rough they are, style of tattoo, etc. My guy that does all my photorealistic portraiture is really gentle, but takes a while, building up depth with shading and so on, whereas the girl I have doing my thigh at the end of the month does more traditional style pieces, which means lots of outlining and pumping in lots of colour, but she works a lot faster. It's hard to explain really... You'd have to see it.

Victoria congrats on getting engaged. I want to know whether you're making your cake too and what do you have in mind?

Tiddy, your new hair looks lovely, really suits you.

AI see, I didn't realise different types require different techniques. It's interesting to find this stuff out :-) I watch LA Ink etc, but they never tell you that side of it.

I never finish early enough to take a photo long enough before hand to make it worth doing, it's such a nice idea to send one though.
