AOk serious cake questions coming up:

I want to make these cupcakes for my mum to take in work as she's leaving at the end of this week and starting a new job. I know how to do the two tone swirl but I'm rubbish at roses and don't know how to make those little roses an easy way. Can anyone help? I could always leave them off but I think they look cute.

Sugarlurva, theres 2 ways you can do it as I did these, either brush a stripe of colour in each side of the piping bag or simply put 2 colours of buttercream side buy side in the bag.

AIf you can't do the mini ones how about using a butterfly instead

ASugarluva, that's just the edges of the rose tinted not quite two-tone.

All you do is brush pure gel colour in the inside of the piping bag and nozzle before you put the icing in the bag.

Here's the ones I did like that...

Also for the roses. Here is the easiest tutorial I can find!

AThanks everyone. I know they're not properly two tone but I like them better that way than when the piping bag is 50/50. I know how to do that it's just the little roses.

That tutorial looks great thought Kelsey thanks I think I'll give them a go tomorrow. If they fail they can have a leaf instead haha

AHow pretty is this?!

I think I'm going to do this for my nieces party in a few weeks.

I have this stand from eBay http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=170417519549

You can use as many tiers as you want and the bottom tier is 13.5", the one up is 12" and the one up gem that is 10.5"

So I'm going to use a 10" board to go on the 10.5" top and do a two tier cake 8" and 5" with a 3" mini mouse topper from styro with 36 cupcakes on the bottom two tiers.

Think it'll be okay?

AYeah should be ok Kuuushi, have you used that stand before? Be careful, they're fragile, one of mine snapped the first time I used it.

Had a look at your FB page Siany, my favourite is the christening cake. Even knowing how much work went into the Alice stuff I still love the christening cake. The billows and the rosary beads, just gorgeous.

Don't think I will get to New York mel, nice to dream tho. You've been obviously? How long for? What season? I'd love to go there Christmas shopping.

Right I'm off to bed now. G'nite all. :-)

I think you look older in the other one, you do actually look about 16 in this one lol. Don't complain, you'll soon be grateful for your youthful looks :)

We were watching a film this evening and I nodded off quite early on into it!  I started to rouse right near the end, only to hear my 15 year old say "Look at the size of that wedding cake...  Imagine trying to deliver that!"  I couldn't be prouder.... My work here is done! LOL!

AMorning cake mates! Back in work today. Still feeling rough but you just have to get on with it I guess!

The problem is, I look about 10 years younger than I am and I get treated like it. Which infuriates me!

I went to asda and I was trying to buy a set of cutlery and the woman goes "you realise you have to be 18 to buy a knife?" Her attitude stunk until I whipped my drivers licence out to her. She then proceeded to say "oh you don't look THAT old" to which I was now bubbling and said "oh well, jokes on you. At least I won't look THAT bad when I'm 40" snatched my licence back and walked out. GRR

AMorning all, me too Kelsey, work today.

At least you get asked!

I know what you mean though, it must be annoying, it happened to Sarah few weeks ago buying a bottle of wine, she‘ s 32!

AThat used to happen to me until the other week in asda when I was buying wine my son was reading the till screen and it said age 25 or something and my son asked why it said that I explained you have to be over 25 to buy wine from there and the guy behind the till said to him I didn't ask your mum cos she looks a lot older than 25 I could have punched him lol I guess having 2 kids is taking it's toll on me (and the fact I am actually getting old pmsl)

AHahah! It's so aggravating though. Can't even buy a sodding lottery ticket without ID!

Why is it that when you don't have to work you are up at the crack of dawn, wide awake. And when you have to work you are like sleeping on a island of soft pillows and you don't want to get up!
