ASo, I applied to register with the council 3 weeks ago and have been waiting to hear from them. Not heard anything so chased up today and they said yep you are registered you can start trading!! I said so I don't need anything else and he said, sometimes they will call and ask some questions or send a letter but not always, you are a very low risk business so no worries, you can go ahead!! This was the actual Environmental Health practitioner. Just OMG. No visit, no forms, no nothing!

AMorning all. :-)

You quite like the agbay then Suzanne?! :-D

Kuushi I love your piped writing! I'd love to be able to pipe, especially writing, I hate cutters.

Kathy let me tell you about the agbay. It was a present for my birthday, I opened it and thought "oh another leveller, I don't like them, they're more trouble than they're worth." I put it back in it's box out on a shelf and pretty much forgot about it. Sounds ungrateful but I had a lot of family stuff going and nobody was here when I opened it, if they had been I'd have thanked them and admired it. Anyway, when Kuuushi posted her cake porn I thought "wow that ridiculously expensive leveller looks like my new one." In the end I checked and compared and it was, bit smaller than the one in Kuuushi's photo but the same apart from that. I couldn't believe anyone would pay that amount of money for a cake leveller. For that price I'd want it to level, fill, stack and crumbcoat the cake! Then I used it. OMG Kathy, I can't tell you how good it is, you have to use it to understand. It's awesome, honestly. The difference it makes to my cakes is phenomenal. Every layer was exactly the same size and perfectly level. When I crumbcoated it and stood back I could not believe how good it looked. I've only used it twice but I'd never want to be without it now. I've had all sorts of cheese wire levellers before, they're rubbish, I also bought a new long bread knife cos I blamed my inability to cut straight on my old knife. Nothing comes close to doing the job as well as the agbay tho, I'd recommend them to anyone. Mine had very little assembly and what there was was idiot proof, I did it in a couple of minutes, no problem. It's fab, I love it. :-)

As for the KA, I didn't like my first one but I love my second one. Maybe the first one was faulty or maybe it's the flex edge beater that makes it so good. Interesting about the motor sizes Siany, I think the KA motors get more powerful as the sizes go up. Mine is the smallest, cheapest one, the motors not that big but you wouldn't know it, it's never struggled with anything I've put in there.

Are you enjoying the rest from baking nanny or missing it and itching to get an order? I haven't got anything planned til the 26th but I need to start making decorations for it soon. It's a minecraft cake for my nephew. He showed me his avatar and I've been looking online to find it so I can attempt to copy it but I can't find it, the only one people seem to make is Steve, I think he's either the one most people choose or the default avatar.

ASnap, same as me then Siany. It does make you wonder doesn't it - we might be low risk but for all they know I could have a filthy kitchen!

Kelsey, not kersey. Stupid phone. I have a swipe keypad which is generally great, but once it gets an idea in it's head it becomes very stubborn (hence tidy/teddy/fish/toddy, and the brand new ruddy instead of tiddy)! One day I'm not going to correct it's corrections and see if you lot can understand what I meant to type :-)

It's a pain when you're there to learn and people want to chat. Do that in your own time when others haven't paid!

Kathy, one of the people I saw with the Agbay just put a couple of pegs above the door in a spare room and it hangs there ready to use. Mine will be over the door in the new utility room :-)

Okie dokie, brownies are baking, garlic in balsamic and brown sugar is caramelising ready for my tear and share bread, and pulled pork is starting to smell pretty damn good. Now for pastry for tarts, salsa verde for potatoes and get eldest in to help make a salted caramel cheesecake (not made that before, so hoping it tastes as good as it looks!) Still loads to do after that but I'm getting there. What I need is a ninja... :-D

AWow Siany, good that you can start trading but that means you won't have a hygiene certificate to display. That might not be a good thing as far as customers are concerned, somebody else here has that problem, can't remember who tho.

Well two attacks last night! Not happy, just checked my shoe and one of the straps has gone and broke on me! Grrr! so now have to redo that then fill the lego cake. Got a customer coming to pick up the eminem/elvis cake later and just had an email argument with the PB school...they offered me an upgrade in the sale so thought yup and did it and they charged me the full amount! :o just waiting for them to get back to me now

Congrats Siany that's great news though you would have thought they would have sent you a letter or something to let you know where all sorted and ready to go. Have you decided between the agbay and the mixer yet. My mixer is an andrew james one and has a 7 litre bowl so I can see when you would want a bigger one.

Kelsey your piping looks great I love the bunnies.

Marvel looking forward to seeing your cake.sounds like a lot of work but I'm sure your family will appreciate the gift.

I have been at a 2hr meeting with the doctor at my nan's , she has been very agitated lately and scratched the career the other day and I have just found out she  punched one in the chest, that is so not like her so they are reviewing her medication and upping her pain meds as she is in pain a lot. She has metal pins in her knees and broke her hip last year. Just have to wait and see how she goes for a few months and then they will try something else if it doesn't help. There was a company setting up to put on a show for the residents when we left so that will be nice for her she will love it.

Hi Tiddy, I can't believe I didn't realise your cake was eminem it was so obvious. I kept looking at him thinking he looks familiar but it just wouldn't click. You must be worn out you poor thing and you still manage to do all those cakes you definitely are a ninja

AMaize yeah I'm worried about the rating, but on the flip side I was also worried they might say my kitchen wasn't up to par (clean and hygienic just old and knackered, bit like me :D) so I might wait till the kitchen is done in a few months and then ask them to come out.

Tiddy sucks that it won't just bugger off and leave you alone. A true cake ninja though as I think most people would just curl up in a ball and cry :(

I think I'm going to try and get the agbay and a kenwood. I might go for the KEnwood premier major, it's more powerful than I have, 7ltr bowl so will see what hubby says, it's my birthday pressure so he might :)

I would of thought the power went up with model Maisie but the big one I was looking at is 300watt and the smaller is 500 watt, makes no sense.

Roxy, sorry to hear about your nan, it must be really hard to see. Aww makes me sad to think about it. Horrid to see people you love so much suffering :(

Thanks Siany unfortunately it's one of those diseases that will only get worse so as hard as it is you just have to get on with it and try not to let it drag you down, though that's getting harder to do.

You are so lucky getting the kenwood and the agbay for your birthday.

You know when you rush to make a cake and get it all in, grate some lemon rind in, get it in the oven and then stop for a min and wonder why your finger hurts, only to realise it's cos you grated it in your rush? Yeah, that sucks

Haha, sometimes I can be a little competitive :D

Have another cake for tomorrow now - last minute as somebody else let them down. *borrows tiddy's ninja mask*

Catsmum you are a genius! That's a great idea, I'd never have come up with that! Can I be a pain and ask what glue he used, and what he cut the drum with?

Hope everyone else is ok, BTW, sorry for the rant earlier! Hopefully I'll be able to catch up properly at the weekend once this darn cake is out the way....!

Hi Mel sorry first time on today so maybe too late. Just confirmed with DH how he did this. He revised his plan and instead of a groove in the drum above he cut a circle out of the "mini" drum using a fret saw. He glued the resulting collar onto the larger drum above ( carefully centred of course). He thinks he used Pritstick but any contact adhesive would work. The vase below slotted snugly into the collar which he said gave better stability. He was an engineer in his former life so I always turn to him with stuff like this. Hope it goes well for you, dying to see the pic. We still need to have that coffee sometime.

Well I decided in an effort to cheer myself up I would have a go at brush embroidery and since i really dont have time to do a large dummy I put my spontaneous head on and made a mini wedding cake! Ok so I know it wasnt much of a go but its still practice lol and overall I was happy with my first attempt.

Back to the lego tomorrow! Grrr!

Looks beaut my dear!

Christening cake is on pause overnight now. Gonna stack it tomorrow and add the embellishments. Then just need to freak out about the journey as per usual.

Tonight is now all about the ninja cake for tomorrow. Is baked, sliced, filled, crumb coated and buttercreamed. Now about to roll out the fondant. Then printed stuff on, some old-school piping, flowers and more printed stuff. Reckon I'll be in bed within the hour though... #ninja

Tiddy your brush embroidery is looking gorgeous. Still can't believe your managing all your cakes and experiments with a major case of CH. You really are a ninja!

H2b and I are watching twin peaks on blu ray. Man I love stuff like this haha!

Just bought a 6 tier acrylic cupcake stand on eBay. Bottom tier is 16" and totally interchangeable. Only £10 so I got two! Haha

Hope everyone is good tonight. If anyone prayers. Please pray I sleep longer than one hour tonight. I feel like my lungs are trying to escape through my oesophagus!

AThanks Catsmum, I went with the groove plan (sounds like a song title!) using a scalpel, glaze spray to seal it, and a glue gun to attach the boards together. Cutting a hole would definitely be better, but I don't have a fret saw LOL but this at least feels a little more stable! Just hope the whole thing will go together tomorrow! Definitely need to meet up, let me know next time you are over in Thame, I owe you a coffee for saving my bacon with the separator!

Cakes are looking good so far, stacking tomorrow partially for delivery then the rest on site. I know what you mean about deliveries Marvel, I've got an hours drive tomorrow for mine and I'm dreading it, DH has to remind me to breathe!

Just had a bit of a fright, the groom from the topper started to lean backwards!! Think I've saved him, but now terrified of coming down in the morning to a smashed up topper, or it falling apart on the car.......gah! Will be soo annoyed if it breaks, am really pleased with it :/

Love the mini cake Tiddy! I can't believe how brave you are carrying on with everything when you are in such pain, you really are a ninja!

I know I've missed loads out, but I must get to bed, can barely keep my eyes open! Catch up tomorrow after delivery (eeeek! Good luck with yours Marvel, and yours Bashini!)

Night night x
