As far as I'm aware, you're not allowed to consume anything between dawn and dusk - including water. Although I could be wrong...

I'm pretty sure that's correct, a few of my friends honour it and I'm sure it's nothing between sunrise and sunset. The biggest problem was always no coffee :)

Morning all!

I'm trying to pluck up the courage to look at the box of chocolate cigarellos I ordered several weeks ago...  They've been stored on top of a unit in my dining room.

I'm dreading it.  One big, melted and re-solidified chunk of chocolate awaits, I'm sure......  I can't bear to look - but I need to!

ABloody hell, that's harsh! I really thought you were able to have water! That'd be me screwed then (like I'd have the willpower to do any of it!). I have to drink plenty every day for my kidney, I get into problems if I don't. How do people with illnesses manage kuuushi? Are there any circumstances which allow leeway for existing health problems?

Sorry for all the questions, the last time I learnt about this was in re, and it's all pretty fuzzy now, but it's really interesting.

Lol Siany, my biggest threat to hubby is that I'll look after him if he's ill, straighten his sheets, keep him company, that sort of thing :-D

AHaha lizzy it is harsh! People who have illnesses don't participate but instead do something for the people who are. Like cook and stuff!

AMorning all. :-)

Thanks nanny and Siany. I've got a feeling dead aliens are really going to catch on! :-D

So glad your little man is feeling better today Siany.

My husband is the same when he's ill too. Just likes to be left alone. Completely foreign to me, I like him to know how ill I am. Look after me, bring me stuff, give me a cwtch. And most importantly look after the kids so I don't have to!

Open them Suzanne, they'll be fine. I had mine for about two weeks before I used them and it was hot. Probably not this hot but not far off. They were fine. Even once they were on the cake in a sweltering car for an hour they didn't melt.

A pain free night tiddy, does that mean it's on it's way out? Hope so.

I knew you couldn't have water Kuuushi but not being able to clean your teeth? I couldn't do it.

Morning cake mates!  Slowly catching up - we are going to hit the 1000 page mark in the next couple of days I'm sure.  What happens then?  Will Admin make us start a new thread do you think?

Barbara I loved the nurse cake - I wasn't able to post yesterday when I was in Brighton but it was so good - I actually loved the hypodermic and the tablets - both looked so real.  It's a shame when people don't step up to the plate and let you know what they think.  I always used to say it was like giving birth as there's so much hard work involved but I'm sure that people don't realise what each piece means to us all.  It's so nice to be part of this forum since we all care so much about what we make.  I think we all criticise ourselves too much.  I was in Brighton yesterday as you know and I went past this cake shop and they had these dummy cakes in there which were really poorly executed.  The Minion cake was not great - yet people were ooohing and aaahing and saying how great it was.  There was a Wizard of Oz cake which was not to my liking at all and a dummy wedding cake which had been positioned so you could see the unfinished work underneath and the ragged appearance where they had plonked it in the window.  Cupcakes were from £2.80 each.  I sadly couldn't get a picture but suffice to say - there are people with shops who are offering these cakes for sale which we would never in a million years deliver to anybody.

Andrea - I hope you are feeling better.  After all your efforts, it was a shame that the charity gig was not well managed.  Fingers crossed for some business for you.

Kuuushi - thanks for the reminder - yes it was me about the Eid cake.  Sadly had some family issues which totally made me forget.  However, they still delivered us some delicious food because they had everyone around last night and we were sapped after sitting in 3 hours of traffic jams.  I am thinking that I will do something at Christmas now - after all, that's my "religious" festival and it's all about giving.  So that is on my list now.

M4rvel - I think I have ordered from Cake Craft before.... I tried to check my invoices but I can't open my emails at the moment.  I try all of them to be honest and I get them all muddled up.  I seriously don't have a favourite supplier.  Spread the load is my motto!

Suzanne - where do you get your cigarellos from?

Kathy - my friend ordered them for me (she did a larger order)..  it may have been The Craft Company?  But in the past, I've just looked around to see who's cheapest!

How was Brighton? We're thinking of going down for the day when hubby is off at the end of August.  We may take the train instead of driving, although by the time we've commuted to get the train from Victoria that's about half the driving time.  So I'll see what hubby prefers.

Right.  I'm going to be brave and open the box.....

AHi Kathy. :-) Are you a very proud mummy today? Hope you had a lovely day and the weather didn't spoil it. Don't feel too bad about the cake for your neighbours, you've had an awful lot going on. I think a Christmas cake is an excellent idea. :-)

There's a lady on another thread who needs help with a wedding cake, nobody's replied. I have but I can't help her, I know lots of you will be able to tho. The threads called "need help with wedding cake technique" I think, started by little topper, last post is me.

Hi everyone, I've not had the chance to get on for a few days so has taken quite a while to catch up. I have been doing my gargen and in between my mum had me spend hours digging her garden to I'm worn out.

Anyway all cakes are fabulous as is dora, backpack and the peony.

Maisie thanks for letting us know about Danny Nickerson I havent been online, wow that's a lot of cards.Loved the cake and the alien.

Tiddy I hope your head eases off very soon, BIG HUGS xxx

Nanny Stephanie Weightman has been on create and craft the past couple of days doing the painting on cakes, I didn't know she was on or I would have told you. The show is just listed as creative cake making you may be able to catch a repeat or watch them on the create and craft website. They have deals on to for different packs with the dvd's and practice pages.

Hi Guys!

I need help and have been trawling the forums for the past hour to find something similar to this cake but no joy - thought some of my UK counterparts might have the answers!

A client has ordered this style of cake from me for next week and I am fairly new to weddings, only have around 10 under my belt so far and never in this style before so I really want to execute it right.

I am wanting to do a test run today but the problem is I cant decipher this cake! The bottom tier is just sugarpaste draped on and pinched in right?

I am just wondering how the other three tiers can be so thin and perfectly folded with no tearing? Do you use anything in the sugarpaste to make it more pliable or easier to work with?

Help! I need a walk through and you guys are so so wise!! :)

Niamh

AAw tiddy I was hoping that seeing it didn't come at 2am it was a good indication it was going. :-(

Kathy I got my cigarello's from the chocolate trading co. They have their own website but they also trade on eBay and amazon, worth checking all three cos they're on offer sometimes at one but not the others. They were lovely too, good quality and tasted nice - I hate cheap chocolate! Bit expensive but they're expensive everywhere. I really like the idea of using matchmakers in their place too, who did that recently? M4rvel I think, I thought it was a brilliant idea, much cheaper too.

AOic kuuushi, so you can be involved whatever your circumstances. That's cool.

Hey little topper, you're going to need to add some tylo to get the thin strips, otherwise they'll be a bugger for tearing as soon as you try to pick them up. You *can* roll plain sugarpaste very thin, but it's a pita.

Hi Maisie!  Yes - a very, very proud mummy indeed.  She'll kill me but here.....

View 20140728_113020_resized_1.jpg in slide show

The only girl to win an engineering prize.  I can just about get my head through the door.....:-D

I used the chocolate trading company recently too after a link from kuuushi for chocolate when the weather was melting our shoes (still waiting on the photos for those - not taken by me!).

Yes - it's been a rollercoaster of emotions lately - just need something really boring.  So tonight I'm gonna clear out my jumper wardrobe!

Suzanne - glad they were intact.  Agree about the pleating too - I actually hate doing pleating....does my head in as I find it harder than it looks - but then I'm an impatient and untidy baker!

I love your name little topper, that was our first choice if we had a girl. Not little topper; Niamh. That would be weird :-D

Do I have the weirdest kid in the world? Just knocked up some vanilla fairy cakes with him, and he didn't lick the bowl because, and I quote, 'I can have the cake in a bit'! Who prefers the cake to the batter?! Quite frankly I'm doubting that he's really mine now
