ANo Maisie, theres more to life than working yourself into the ground, I was miserable, irritable, very tired and starting to resent John, (gumpaste John is retired) I just felt i worked all day then come home and work again, I know its my choice, it isn't hard work but it is tiring, and at 55, do I really want that, I'm on my feet all day, so it was the right time.

AWell, well done getting them all done tiddy. So if you have an injection now, when you feel it coming, will it stop it? Or make it bearable?

No Maisie, the injections are for when it starts and only work if you catch it fast enough buttheres no build up..its 0-100 instantly so hard to do. The oxygen works the same way and if you dont get it early can either not work or give you a rebound attack. There is no preventative medication and no cure. The above just shorten the attacks sometimes :(. Sadly there is no bearable.

ABlimey, in that case tiddy I hope it's over quickly and it's a short attack (probably not the right word) with a long remission. X

Just wanted to let everyone know Danny Nickerson has received over 100,000 birthday cards and 7000 parcels. And they still keep coming from all over the world. :-D Thanks for sharing the link roxy. (I think it was roxy.)

Kathy, go in dinkydoodles FB page, she has a link to do a trial for 2 weeks for a quid. I have just signed up, I'm just deciding between pretty witty and Paul Bradford so thought this would help. Paul Bradford would win hands down but pretty witty has dawn butler so I'm torn now as I love her :)

I subscribe to both. I think both are good value. PWC now down to £8.99 /mth or £75/yr. I too am a Dawn Butler fan

AHey everyone

Thought this day wouldn't come but it has, really stressed my vanilla cupcake recipe seems to be playing up yestrday, the cupcakes didn't rise flat how they normally do but rise 3mm under the cupcake liner with what it looks to be a more "nipple" look peak. I cooked them at 350. Is that too high? I tried turning it to 375 then to 325 but that made it worse baking powder and baking soda are fresh brought them yestrday

my recipe is

57g butter 57g oil 185g flour 1tsp baking powder 1/2 baking soda 1/2 salt 145g buttermilk 2 eggs 2tsp vanilla 200g sugar

I need to make another batch for today and im really stressed as the order needs to be ready for 9oclock

Hi UKake,

How are you mixing your batter? Are you hand or electric whisking?

If your getting a "nipple" it could be where you are over beating and incorporating too much air that is t being removed before baking.

Are you pouring the batter in to the liners or spooning? Just as a guess it appears you are over beating and pouring directly in to the middle if the liners.

To elevate air bubbles, tap your pan on the counter a few times before you put them in the oven.

Also, be careful with leaving your batter out too long before going in the oven. The long it sits at room temperature the more likely the build up of molecules are to break down. In other words it can affect the rise of your cupcake.

Try to bake your cupcakes on 300 instead of 350. You have a very liquid batter so it needs to be cooked low and slow. Maybe change that and don't open the oven until you think they are done.

There could be a lot of things that's changed your cupcake results. Is there any gap when you close the oven door? Do you open it while it's baking? It's really tempting but not worth it. The weather were having. Doesn't help either!

Are you melting your butter or using it at room temperature? Melting butter will change the build up again.

Baking is pretty much a science, once you have it don't change it! :)

AHi all. I'm in Clacton on Sea at the moment visiting my sister in law. We've been to the beach and rides on the pier the last two days and the girls have had a blast!

I've been reading on and off the last two days to catch up. Great cakes from everyone (sorry, struggling to remember who did what).

Tiddy, I hope you don't suffer tonight. I watched the video link you posted. It was really difficult to watch. What unimaginable pain. You poor thing xxx

Kuushi, you fainted! Gosh hope it doesn't happen again xxx

Hope everyone else is ok and surviving the heat. Maisie, no need to move! It'll be winter before you know it and rain is always around the corner in this country!!
