AIt's where the normal cream is in tesco Roxy, in a long life style carton instead of a pot!

Nanny if your in Blackwood, where's your nearest cake dec shop? Mum lives in Aberdare so if I'm down I usually have to plan to go back to catch Swansea sugar craft.

AAt the moment I'm using springform release pans and finding that they are starting to wear around the hinge and I'm afraid that they are going to break on me one day in my hour of need.

Can anyone recommend any tins to me? I don't mind if they're spring or jot

Kuuushi, its called Finishing Touches, she makes her cakes in the back of the shop, was in there yesterday, she shares all her tips bless her.I've even started to buy my butter and jam from them.

AI'm confused! I thought Kathy was referring ystrad when she said language but then nanny apologised for swearing! In my defence I've just cut Leah's nails and that means holding her down while she cries and sweats and turns red and puffy. I'd like to think my kisses and cwtches make her better but I've a sneaking suspicion it's actually the fudge I give her afterwards!

I had a leaky springform tin Kuuushi and came here to ask what to replace it with. The general consensus was pme or invicta. I bought invicta, it's the best tin I have.

ANanny your birdcage is lovely.

I can't go any further back than one page as I'm shattered and don't have the energy to catch up.

I also don't have the energy to get a decent picture of my cake today but I'll post what I have.

AHis body is all cake. I cut him from a sheet cake (Dawn Butler course today) but you'd use a 10 square and 6 round for him and then you carve him out.

AOh and her ready made ganache comes out in a couple of days. Have to say it's very good. Has a shelf life of 3 mths so that takes any worry away from using it.

AHi all

Maisie lovely little egg have I missed the theme of the cake ??

Nanny sounds like you have had a horrid time you poor thing, but I must say i can't see anything at all wrong with the birdcage and if i managed to do a cake like That I would be very happy !!

Victoria glad your ganache went well for you, I had a mare with my first attempt but got it back again then popped it into freezer. I'm hopefully going to use it on a trial cake this week as I have some yucky lilac sp yo use up from my ballerina cake !! Talking of the ballerina cake I only realised what you all meant by her legs when I went to the after party bit that she literally was just spreading her legs and not the proper splits - oh well will know for next time !! Tasted great though so I was very happy !!

Marvel I want to go a bit further with my cakes to see if I can get more orders etc but I'm worried I would have go pro so to speak before I put the word out ! I'm obviously not in your league but I am getting a lot coming my way but don't feel I'm experience d enough to go the whole pro route so wonder if I'm ok just carrying on as I am too ?!

AHmm maybe when and if my cake orders sore then I might invest in an airbrush ! I think colouring sp is my least favourite part of decorating cakes !

I have wilton gel colours there is black in there Nanny but I'd be loathed to try it tbh as I get into so much mess and I can't abide gloves lol ;-)

I bought the Cassie Brown airbrushing kit, and it does the job, but for some reason the spray doesn't stop when you released the trigger - not a huge issue as I just turn it off, but somewhat disappointing. Would've exchanged it for another, but didn't open it for weeks after I bought it.

Well as geeky as this sounds I'm already planning Christmas so an airbrush might just go on my list for santa ;-)

Going to trial Christmas cakes soon too as people at work are putting in orders from me but I have never ever bloody made one lol !!!

AGood god I have no hope of catching up with you guys!

Just popping in to say Hi! Been having a busy few weeks after holiday with cakes, and am now out visiting my Mum as she's now out of hospital! Rather nice to get an extra week of sun I have to say! ;)

Have a very quick skim through some pages to try and keep up (fail LOL) but everyone's cakes look fab! Nanny that birdcage looks great! Fab tip on panelling too Tiddy, I have a birdcage wedding cake in August so will remember that one! And fab washing machine too!

Colouring black - start with chocolate SP if you have to DIY, need way less colouring plus it tastes of choc and not colouring! :)

Siany loooove the dragon and very intrigued with easy made ganache!

Marvel the Moshi and Frozen cakes look great! In terms of getting wider exposure and 'going Pro' it's really down to you, I would ask if they wouldn't mind the kitchen being looked at? It might be worth it just for your piece of mind especially if you are getting loads of reach on FB? I was told when I had mine done that technically if you are 'selling' to anyone, being hobby or business, you should really have the kitchen checked out, it's worth thinking about to protect yourself if nothing else?

CatsMum can I ask how you dealt with stacking cakes with glass vases so the dowels didn't show? Have a cake enquiry asking for acrylic tube seperators and not entirely sure how to accomplish it, assuming covered boards may be involved?

Sorry for missing people, will try and stop in a bit more, honest!:)

Fabulous cake Siany! Is that meant to be Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon? I love the lizard skin- how did you do that? Mat?

I'm dying to get to Windsor Cake Craft tomorrow in Warrington. It's not that near but I haven't got any square cake cards for my cake due on Tuesday this coming week and I do need to get quite a few other things (I'd also LIKE a LOT of other things TBH) so making a special trip. Can't wait to get there!

Cake due on tuesday is my first sheet cake which is going to be shaped a bit. I'm hoping the design is as easy as it looks. Customer sent me a picture of what she wanted, and I agreed as she was happy that I may not get the cake exactly like the photo and the colours may differ. That's my disclaimer! She said she has faith in me, argh the pressure lol. Shame that she almost went for a bucket shaped cake (theme is Harry and his Bucketful of Dinosaurs- I'd never heard of them till now) with little dinosaurs' heads peeking out of the bucket, with a smallish Harry standing next to the bucket. She changed her mind and sent me a photo of an alternative cake instead. I suppose after the choc buttercream fail, I should be happy with a relatively simple cake (famous last words).

Jo, you could always start off slow and accept only the orders you are happy to do. For the orders that are intimidating you can always say no. Your work is lovely and really neat- the basics of any cake decorating! Everything else you learn on the job. If your cake fails, offer full refunds lol

Hi Mel, lovely to see you again! Good to know your mum's on the mend :)
