Thanks Tiddy is it the one from her decorating bible book yes ? I don't think its her mud or fudge cake just explained as choc cake.. Does it come out moist Tiddy ? I have cooked her madeira before in the one tin and it came out well as far as rise goes I just prefer sponge myself. This cake is for my daughters 7 year old friend so I'm guessing the decoration more important as will only be flung in party bags but I definitely will need height if I'm going to quilt the sides !

Hi Roxy, camping was good fun thanks but we got very wet on the Friday night as the rain was so heavy !! The kids loved being with all the other families and they played so well together, adults had a nice time bbq'ing and drinking wine and beer !! We have booked to go again in the summer holidays - must be mad !!

Hi Kathy, I haven't had chance to figure the other site out yet probably - its taken me ages to get used to this one (technophobe at heart !!).

I know Roxy! Naked dummies upsets me greatly!

I may have to go vent in a minute! Grrr! I specifically tell my customers to please make sure they arrive on time as a) this is also my family home and b) other cakes to be getting on with. Aaaaargggh! so annoying!

Just had a quick look at the choc recipe and tbh I have it laminated so feck knows which book it came from haha! I have also tweaked it a little so strictly speaking its not the same but if you still want it im happy to send. I shall post a pic of my 10" for you :)

Looks good Tiddy ! I'm very undecided whether to go to the next size mix for my usual choc sponge and hope its tall enough, or to try Lindy's. I hate it when a cake fails and knowing my luck would be baking twice ! I suppose at least with using 8" sandwich tins if it is short I could just do another quick layer !

I think I will try the recipe from Lindy's book on my own family first to check I like it, because I'm not liking the risk factor !

How annoying Tiddy I hope you huffed appropriately at them :(

Cake looks yummy Tiddy. Some people are just inconsiderate, my mother in law is one of them she tells you she is on her way down which takes half and hour tops and two hours later she turns up.

Jo can I ask what choco sponge recipe you normally use and do you mind sharing?

I've heard of people ironing mats to get creases out of them with a towel or something over it, couldn't you put it in the oven on low and see if that helps silicone is oven safe like the cake lace mats isn't it?

I use the silicone one from Ikea but I find the silicone ones attract fibres to the SP more so have been using my wilton one lately but it crinkles,or I just give my table a good clean and do it on that as I have a table cover on so the table top itself has never had anything on it. For little things I have two granite placemats that I got from B and M for about £3 that I use, I find them handy as I can leave things on them to set up a bit and move them while I get on with other stuff. Don't you have the mat Kuuushi? Why don't you just use the bottom half of it for rolling?

Oh, I so want your cake room Tiddy! I spread from the kitchen to the dining room, then we end up eating on our laps cos I'm not moving tons of stuff just to eat :D

Here's the fb page I was ranting about M4rvel

https://facebook.com/dadbakescakes

Seriously, apart from not covering boards he's good, but his prices are just ridiculous. People left right and centre saying they taste fab, so he's clearly talented, but there is no way in hell - even if he was double the ninja Tiddy is - that he can be making money on these. What's worse is the amount of people who say 'lovely cake and very reasonable too'. No, it's not reasonable, it's someone working for pennies! :x

Ooh, getting all worked up again, and can't even cook to calm myself as the plasterboarding is being done today right next to the kitchen :(

I've got two cakes booked in for the 10th August, booked ages ago, which I'm getting worried about as I can't prepare anything atm, and I'm not convinced the building will be finished in time for the dust to settle. I also need to be making dozens of roses, but can't do them for the dust either. I'm in such a grump today.
