Bill In Texas For Legal Home Bakeries! Calling All Texans!

Cameras are back on for the Public Health Committee but no sound yet and the room looks bare still except for 3 bodies moving around. Hopefully they will be back by 1 or so.
Has anyone read the bill recently? they have added some things. also there is a fiscal note which sounds to me like they are saying that it will cost the state. granted I'm not the greatest at reading legal documents.

I think adding in those extra regulations for inspections will only help our bill. It will shut Mr. Staph Kolache up!!
Can someone please repost the link to the Public Health Committee camera feed?

If this bill will cost the state money, then Perry will most likely veto it. From what I understand, he has vetoed almost every spending bill that has crossed his desk.
Okay, gotta run. I hope they vote soon! Making cakes and running errands is the only thing keeping my sanity intact today!
too bad they don't add up the sales tax we pay when we are buying all of our supplies and ingredients and things, wouldn't that go to the state?
Oh my, there talking again, will they decide today? or this week??? how soon? I have to leave for work like in 25mins...so I wont know.
PLEASE!!!!! If this gets passed, everyone get on the network and everyone mail someone or post...in HUGE letters...lol so we can all go BAKE CAKES...AND HAVE A PARTY!!!! *shouting, yes*
Thanks guys...But still confused about stuff,
When we went in to do testimony on our bill, the committee voted on all pending bills from the prior weeks hearing BEFORE hearing any testimony on new bill before the committee. Why have they not dealt with the pending bills yet?
I wonder who wrote that fiscal note and can it be challenged? It seems like that is a moving number that could be adjusted based on changing the registration fees or licensing fees. Plus there were other states that said they didnt have to add any staff at all. We'll have to find out how other states with cottage food laws quantified this as the law was being proposed.

I think it's kind of at the whim of the committee, as far as the order goes. I went back and looked at the minutes for the week before our hearing, and they listened to the testimony for at least one bill before they voted on some of the pending bills.
Ok, so I have a dumb question. I went to http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/81R/schedules/html/C4102009033108005.htm, which is the schedule for today's Public Health Committee meeting. I went through the entire agenda and nowhere do I see any mention of HB3282. Am I missing something? Are they NOT going discuss it today?
I hope someone can answer this.
Nothing like a legal document to make your head spin as far as I can tell the numbers that are in ( ) are costs to the state and the other ones are gains. Also it says it would incur no costs through august 31 2011 but they do seem to thing it would require more staff.
arosstx- the pending bills that they voted on last week weren't on that schedule either. so because it isn't on there doesn't necessarily mean anything.
OMG, how funny they mentioned the cakes they got!! Did that guy say he brought sausage?!? Hellooo, STAPH!
Yeah the bills they passed to the house floor last week weren't shown on the hearing individually, it just said pending business. We shall see, but I am SO getting bored with all this stuff. I don't know how the reps do it. I certainly applaud their patience.
Ok everyone hold your breath, I think they just said they were going to be voting on pending bills.
AARRGGHH! Let me know what they say, I have to go deal with my son right now...never fails!
I think that cremation bill was heard after ours... I wonder if this is in any particular order.
it just stopped streaming for me! I can't take the suspense
edited to say it just came back! whew!
