Hi all!

I know, why make a cake for someone who has lost weight? I don't ask, I just do!

So I guess the birthday girl has lost some weight and hubby wants something to celebrate this. He was thinking something like Jessica Rabbit, you know, curvy and slim and all that.

If anyone has any ideas, suggestions or pics, please pass 'em along as I am having difficulty envisioning this one.

Well, coming from someone who's had weight loss, the only thing I'd want to make sure of if I were eating the cake, was that it was low cal or sugar free... I'd do someone curvacious like the one you suggested or maybe Betty Boop .. something cute like that would be a really nice thing to do

ACK!!! Hubby wants me to make a 3-D Jessica!!! I'm glad to see he has confidence in my abilities but 3-D? Yikes! Plus, I did a quick search on the net for some Jessica Rabbit pics.....let's just say that the majority of them are not suitable for family viewing!

I like the BEtty Boop idea, seems much safer!

Does this person understand that by giving his newly thin wife a cake loaded with everything she's had to avoid for however long it took her to lose the weight that he might be offending his wife? Or is he subconsciously undo what been done?

I know an order is an order, but this is one IO'd give a lot of thought to before filling it.

It does seem like an odd request. You can substitute apple sauce for oil and egg substitute for the eggs and that will make the cake lower fat. Don't know how well that would work with a 3D cake though.

You could make her a VERY tiny cake of Betty Boop. Maybe a Betty Boop made of cupcakes????

How about the Playboy bunny logo?

There are some diabetic receipes in the recipe section that might work better for someone who is obviously watching what she eats. Also, what about a mini cake? Hopefully that wouldn't seem mean, but she might actually appreciate not having to worry about the temptation with a huge cake sitting there, just a thought. Let us know what you decide, that's an interesting situation.

You could also use Splenda to replace the sugar in the cake, but the icing? I think you're stuck there. But, hey - if she lost the weight, then I'm sure she learned some self-control where food's concerned. It's not like she's gonna eat the whole cake! lol Maybe just don't make a HUGE cake, so it's not sitting around the house for a week and tempting her!! lol Or suggest they have a party so all of the cake will get eaten?!

Believe me when I say I too understand the weight loss situation having lost 120 lbs myself.
I don't think her hubby is being mean, or even insensitive for that matter, at least not in this case. They are indeed having a party so he wants something to feed 20-30 people. It's kinda nice that he wants to acknowledge how great she looks with something sorta 'sexy'. True, it still seems a little strange to do it with cake but aren't all the best occasions celebrated with cake? And like JennT said: "It's not like she's gonna eat the whole cake! lol"...at least we hope not!

Then in that case, do a womans torso cake all dolled up in a red teddy with licorice garters! If he wants sexy, give him sexy!

I would say that this is a very nice idea from the husband and she is free to eat it or not, I would say, why not make it from an angel food cake since they are not fat loaded. Jessica and Betty both have big b**bs in all of their pics so I don't see why you couldn't tame down the Jessica one and just make it look sexy and thin but not over the top Good luck

Oh, I hope nobody thought I meant it was mean for the husband to get her a cake! I was actually trying to be sensive to her concerning the mini cake! Sometimes things sound different when written down than when spoken! I think it's wonderful that her husband is thinking of doing this for her - he must be a great guy!

I would have loved it if my husband did this for me! I lost over a hundred lbs. and my husband took me to my favorite tearoom for my favorite homemade peach cobbler as a treat for having gone without for so long. I lost all the weight just in time for summer so I think it would be cute to do one of the torso-shaped bikini cakes. My husband tells me that while there is less of me to love, he couldn't love me any more than he already does. I think it's great her husband wants to acknowledge and help her celebrate her accomplishment!

I didn't mean to sound insensitive in my earlier comment, I too am on the path to losing 80 + pounds, after 3 kids, so I definitely understand tripletmom's concern. But at the same time, I'm faced with temptation every day and part of losing weight succesfully, imo, is learning how to deal with and triumph over that temptation...which is really, really difficult when you love to cook and LOVE to EAT!!! lol Especially if you're a caker! lol And I also think that if her DH is supportive enough to want to celebrate her success with the weight loss, he's probably going to help her resist WANTING to eat the whole cake!! lol

I did send him a lingerie torso (a tasteful one!) and he liked it however he thinks that perhaps a one-piece bathing suit would be more appropriate.'
