Hello everyone. I have a quick question. I am making a 2 tiered polka dot cake for my daughter's 1st birthday this next weekend. I am new to fondant and want to make the dots out of fondant. I also want to do a "spray" of dolka dots coming out of the top attached with white floral wire. My question is how do I attach the dots to the wire? Do I make 2 of the same dot and just put the wire in between and use water to stick them together, or do I need to "glue them tofether with white chocolate or candy melts? Also, do I attech the dots to the Buttercream icing with just water? Sorry, I hope that is not confusing!!

TIA for all the answers!

to make them on wires, you can sandwich them between 2 as you said, or just glue the wires onto the back of the dried dots with choc or royal icing.

water is all you need to attach fresh fondnat dots to the side of the cake.

you could also slide the wire inside the circle, use a bit egg white/ edible glue to help it stick.

Is Floral wire the only type you can use? Also, is there something special you have to do to the wire before you insert it into the cake? I too want to experiment with the "spray" of dots or stars out of my cakes.

once you get your dots on wires, put them into a coffee stirrer and then insert into the cake...that way no wires are in contact with food. The coffee stirrer also helps you to "organize" your spray before putting into the cake. I did that with this cake...

Hope that helps!
